This is really neat. Now this is stalking done properly... not shitty alien isolation with magical aliens

I liked Mr X but it was very easy to get around as a game mechanic, alien isolation had a bit more to it and he would enter every room, not just a few like Mr X.
Well, Mr. X is just one enemy. The Xeno was THE enemy of that game.
Mr. X is not supposed to play the Alien's role, which is also why you can't hide in this game.

Mr. X is great. He's there to mix things up for you.
With Mr. X behind you, you probably can't stealth past a licker, or slowly take out or bait a zombie. You just gotta get through there NOW, whatever it takes, and that's why I love the guy
Makes for exciting situations where you gotta adapt on the fly. It wouldn't be the same without him.
If you want a Mr. X that kills you instead of just pushing you into dangerous situations, wait for RE3 remake

Now that I finished all "4" scenarios, another thing that I noticed compared to the original is that William shrinking in the G body, as G takes over, is missing the focus and importance it had in the original. In the original it was very clearly depicted (going by memory here) and it was a very freaky moment, but in RE2make I think I only noticed it in Claire's campaign and it was a very brief and unspectacular moment.

IGG doesn't "release" games it's just a shady site injecting spyware and other shit in to the games they post so i recommend not downloading anything from them, well unless you like to have crapware on your machine
finally finished claire a + b and leon b + a.
one speed run with around 1:30h for claire (b), without using the itembox.
a few racoons are missing and somehow some files to read. other then that i only need to do the hardcore runs now and trying to do a complete run without using a health item. don't know how this will work out but i will try
After a humongous series of deaths and pants being shat I've reached Leon's end, what a bloody good remake. Took me nearly 10 hours and got a pitiful C rating, but who cares, my old 1998ian memories were so fuzzy that it was almost like playing it for the first time.
It's one of the rare cases where I practically don't have anything to complain about, the hardcore difficulty (very recommended for true resident men) delivered a perfect survival horror experience with atmospheric sense of dread, constant fear of losing progress and wise mix of scripted events + dynamic ones involving them lickers, zombies, MrX, dogs and angry veggies. I never played the RE games for the story, though the campy style and traditional cheese always manage to suit the gameplay like a glove. Claire's run will have to wait though, will do that in first person view in the future in order to keep it fresh.
Wanted to have a visceral(tm) grittiness so in addition to the sharpening I also raised the in-game brightness to the max and Reshade's fake HDR to 1.8, it ended up hitting the sweet spot for my ancient monitor: https://imgur.com/a/w29yMQX
The game is very good, it's just disappointing that unlike REmake which only added stuff to the RE1 experience, RE2make cut some stuff, be it enemies, plot lines, the zapping system and so on, so it can't 100% replace the original. The abbreviated nature of the plot is the worst offender for me.
Then I also have some gripes with stuff like the limited amount of zombie models (oh, look, it's "fat zombie" again), or the limited vocabulary of actions the player can do (only run and shoot, no, say, duck, dodge, melee, hide, jump, etc. I'm just typing all sorts of stuff here, I don't mean I want all of them or any of them, just saying only run and shoot is a very limited vocabulary for a modern game) but I can't complain too much for now. We'll see how they evolve the formula with RE3make (which at minimum should be adding dodge like RE3 did) and RE8 (which might be first person)

Just seen the original RE2, Jebus that 'Alone in the dark' graphics
I think it's safe to assume they had to redo this game from scratch.
RE2 is one of the better looking PSX games thanks to the pre-rendered graphics. Certainly better than cousin game Dino Crisis (3D), rival Silent Hill (3D), and better artstyle than first foray to (bland) 3D for the series with Dreamcast's RE Code Veronica.
And all those look about a million times better than the early Alone in the Dark games.
REmake redid everything from RE1 and that was back in 2002, so of course RE2make released in 2019 also redoes everything from RE2.

Remember back in 2012 when RE6 came out, imagine if someone told us back then that one day we would get this game...
"gtfo you're drunk "
Even further back, when the Lost in Nigthmares DLC for RE5 was out, I remember how excited everyone were, because it was a a throwback to the mansion in RE1.
LiN inspired REvelations 1 (REv1 reuses a lot of LiN's assets, and continues along the same line of "this is a mission of Chris and Jill that happened between the games" theme and ends exactly where LiN begins, and further takes the gameplay towards a more classic RE direction), and REv1 was well enough received that its director made RE7, which further moved the game towards its classic roots, which RE2make uses as its base to fully restore the classic RE heart.
(Going even further than that, REvelations 2 picks up an important plot point introduced in LiN.
Spoiler:
Wesker's "sister"
And REv2 did well enough that its director co-directed RE2make.)
So in retrospect everything started with LiN. And RE6 of course, but for the opposite reasons.

enough time to finish claire s+, 2 more speed runs on hardcore with claire and leon and 3 more tofu runs
can't wait to get 100% achievement on steam. claire hardcore + 2 dlc achievements are missing for now.
