At least we got random maps back. Still unbalanced and unoptimised, which is to be expected since it is a proper genuine beta, instead of a time-limited demo we see these days. Because of this unbalance the money flow is too erratic, and we don't have those nifty little production-chain-planner sites yet that always told me the ratio of buildings I need to sustain the population. Smile Despite the stupid design choices in 2205, it was stable, ran well and looked pretty. We should be ok on that front, the only question is replayability, which was the issue with 2205's new direction.

I think this is it for me, I won't have time to play in the next 4 days because of work, and when I'm finally free I'll be busy testing out X4, which should be out by then, and last I heard they are on GOG, so no need to wait for a crack.

All in all, looks promising, but too early to tell how things will turn out.

They sent out information for their beta test a couple of months back I think. This will be my first go at Anno so looking forward to trying it out tonight.

They also have a signup for The Division 2 and other betas as well, might as well if you're interested.

I was a massive fan of this franchise, does this version from what people have seen fix the below derp-provements of 2205.

Anno 2205:
- Removal of fertilities.
- Simplified trade > remove vehicles, time delays, v. little need to buy or sell in the game.
- Removed disasters.
- Give you unlimited resources.
- Removed research, vehicle and warehouse upgrades.
- Removed choice of factions.
- Removed pollution / negative effects.
- Gave player ability to freely move all buildings without penalty > so retarded.
- Remove combat defensive, offensive building and strategy from main game . Introduction of dog-shit rts mini-game.
- Introduction of derp mobile phone app companion.
- Removed Multiplayer.
- Removed randomized maps and challenges.
- Screwed everyone with DLC and season passes.

It's a technical beta, lasts about a week. I did apply for it a while back Very Happy

Same sentiments as Morphineus. I only crashed once and I think it's because game kicked out and downloaded an update after that. I can't access the beta forums so not sure what the news are. Pointless of letting me test it and not post there.

Would love to post screenshots, but they plastered beta with ID watermark all over the screen Laughing

About 3 hours in on a big map, so far have not found AI opponents yet, however I did find a crapload of islands to colonize.

I signed up for it, I assume I was not successful, oh well, as you say it's only a weeks worth.

Fertilities are in.

Trade requires ships.

Disasters are in.

Resource deposits appear to be unlimited, but depending on settings, those could be far apart. There is a production and maintenance involved. You can also adjust productivity by making production higher but it in turn affects citizen happiness.

Dont think there is research. There are menus that are still not populated.

Warehouse upgrades exist.

No factions, think of Anno 1404 system.

No pollution, at least I have not seen any.

No RTS mini games, combat takes place on map

Not sure about mobile app, might be one in future heh

MP is there.

Random maps there.

DLC there, if you get the delux edition, it says 1st DLC included. So I'm assuming there will be more than 1.

IIRC there was a pollution modifier in the pop morale calculation.

Yes, so, some polluting industries decrease attractiveness of the island. And you can see smoke cloud around the industries. Since I don't have any residential stuff close by, not sure if the smoke affects anything. However, low attractiveness will make people leave island and be more pissed, which means more riots and shit.

And people leaving can ruin you. Having people populate industries and the population groups are scarce as it is, having folks leave means less production to support which means more pissed off people. My last game I was playing, I set the city events to high. This means I had fires and riots and shit constantly happening. It was a blast.

I'm really loving this game. Can't wait until release Very Happy

Combat is basically the same as 1404, don't expect anything interesting.

Who cares about combat in an Anno game anyways? It was always such a minor part that I never bothered with it.

If you're not going to make it interesting you might as well remove it. I'm not expecting something advanced either. Something like Pirates! (or other stuff I saw in the 90's from bargain bin titles) would already be a step up. Also it was glitchy as fuck... but that can always be fixed in retail.

I guess there have to be a little bit of combat, because of pirates. But they are also just a minor part of the whole game, there's no need to overcomplicate the solution to a simple problem. Smile

It doesn't have to have an overcomplicated solution is what I'm saying. But if you're going to put combat in (and for me it doesn't have to be there) you might want to give it a bit more attention than the bare minimum.

You did play the beta right? Because I did and I'm telling you that part was quite bad. Even taking over islands and the result was badly done.

Full agreement, i think it was mostly brought it so you could have AI factions and some means of taking over a hostile island. Must admit I never enjoyed 2070s combat trying to remove hostiles from islands sucked huge dicks, cant we just buy out other factions or in some way make it economic warfare etc.

I.e you become sole source of particular goods, rivel cannot afford or meet his populations needs, people leave his city he goes bankrupt and eventually you can buy out his remaining settlement, problem solved. Having 3 turrents and 3 ships play out shitty rts is annoying

Yup, you can go non combat take overs, buying shares and eventually pushing them out by majority. The pirates, you can turn that faction off if you really don't want to get bothered too much with ship combat.

Lead your Industrial Revolution in Anno 1800. Play the Closed Beta from Jan 31 through Feb 4. Register now at anno-union.com/register.

+ delay
Quote:
Today we have an important update for all our Anno Union members: The release date of Anno 1800 will now be April 16, 2019.

This wasn’t an easy decision for us because we know how much you are looking forward to the release, and we ourselves can’t wait to have you all experience the full game. Since the announcement of the game at Gamescom 2017, we have always been committed to deliver the best Anno experience possible at launch.
We are very happy with where the game and its wide mix of new and classic features are today, but we know that it can be even better with a little additional polish and tuning. These extra weeks will allow us to deliver a game that fully lives up to its potential.

Of course, you don’t have to just take our word for it! Starting next week on January 31st, our Closed Beta test will allow many of you to get your hands on the game to see for yourself how we are bringing the world of the industrial revolution to Anno. On that note, we are also happy to confirm that the Closed Beta won’t have any NDA- so feel free to discuss, create videos or to stream the game to your heart’s content.

Finally, we wanted to let you know that the Anno 1800 journey won’t end at launch. We will share more details closer to April 16th but can assure that we have some cool ideas for future post-launch content for the game.
We are humbled by your excitement and passion for the game, and hope you support our decision to take a little more time to make it as polished as it can be.

Best regards,
The Anno 1800 Dev Team
