One thing is for sure, 2049 is a lot less hollow than the original.

Dune 2 on Amiga 500 was the first RTS game I ever played as a kid, wasn't it also the first RTS ever? |
Dune II was released in 1993. I think The Settles was released in the same year but it's not quite a proper RTS. Warcraft 1 was release a year later.
I LOVED Dune II on the Amiga, it was the first RTS in that style. Westwood followed up Dune II with the first C&C and we know the history after that. Later we got Age of Empires and even later we got Supreme Commander which introduced the "revolutionary" zoom function. |
Dune II = 1992
Warcraft 1 = 1994
Command & Conquer = 1995
WC1 was a lot like Dune 2 - while Dune 2 needed slabs to build on, WC1 used roads. C&C was really in a different ball park - way more units, two very different sides, free building (kind of), amazing soundtrack, live action footage, proper story, alternative missions, ... . C&C to Dune 2 was like Doom to Wolfenstein 3D.
Settlers is more a god sim than an RTS - also released in 1994. Utterly love the original Settlers - S2 & 3 were better but the first has more charm I find.

Stellan Skarsgard has joined the growing cast of Dune, Legendary’s adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel being directed by Denis Villeneuve.
Skarsgard will play one of the villains of the piece, Baron Harkonnen, whose family previously ruled Arrakis and has a long hatred of the Atreides family, plotting with the galactic emperor to destroy it.

Either he will wear a fat suit, or it's a different interpretation of the character.

Pretty good cast.

Will only watch it for Uncle Denis. Have no interest in the lead actors. Bardem and Brolin seem to have small supporting roles sadly
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Current cast:
Jason Momoa ... Duncan Idaho
Zendaya Zendaya ... Chani
Rebecca Ferguson ... Lady Jessica
Josh Brolin ... Gurney Halleck
Dave Bautista ... Glossu 'Beast' Rabban
Oscar Isaac ... Duke Leto Atreides
Timothée Chalamet ... Paul Atreides
Stellan Skarsgård ... Baron Harkonnen
Javier Bardem ... Stilgar
Charlotte Rampling ... Reverend Mother Mohiam
David Dastmalchian ... Piter De Vries
Javier Bardem? Cool. And 100+ other actors not announced.
Filming began little over a month ago so it's a long wait for this one.
I've seen the original (loved it, rewatched it and got more of it since I haven't read the books), seen the 2000 mini-series and liked it a lot (it's more direct and less mystified) and I've seen Children of Dune mini-series as well but I can't really remember that much about it to be honest.
Obviously I've seen Jodorowsky's Dune, the documentary about the ambitious but ultimately doomed film adaptation of the seminal science fiction novel. From what I saw in the documentary it could've been epic or it could've been totally incomprehensible, one never knows when we're talking Alejandro. Santa Sangre was amazing but more like a vivid dream than anything else.

I had to Google what a 'Zendaya' is, and it's the annoying twat who plays "MJ" in MCU Spider-Man? Blech.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

She's pretty though. Never seen a Spooderman movie (or any other for that matter) with Zendaya as Mary-Jane, I've just seen the movies with Tobey Maguire and Into the Spider-verse.
