Hm, I feel it's the opposite and most prefer Odyssey over Origins, including myself and I really liked Origins. The only thing Origins has over Odyssey are the pyramids.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Odyssey indeed is Origins on steroids (in terms of contents). The problem for me was that Origins already became quite the slog to finish and the idea of going through the same-ish experience for another *inserts humongous amount* of hours accompanied by Ubisoft's signature generic writing and arcade-y design simply wasn't worth it.
I'll just wait for the next "revamping", assuming that it won't turn the franchise into an online uplaym8 featuring sixth-dimensional couchassassins, that is

The most boring part about Origins was the "ingredient" grinding in order to improve items.
That thing here too?

I finished the main story of Odyssey and I am having fun doing the side quests and just exploring the world.
However, I tried Origins last week (perhaps my 5th try since the game was released?), and again got bored very soon, the world just feels dull, from what I saw so far the map seems to look the same everywhere....in Odyssey you have at least different landscapes which it makes it more intersting for me.
Not sure if I should continue with Origins or not (just met Cleopatra).

Yes you can save him, as your father will intervene when the fight is going to start.
Didnt know that you can still get a good ending even if he dies. But your father needs to be alive, if he dies you will always get the bad ending.

Yup, dad and brother were alive in my game. Kassandra made the remark that she perhaps could have saved the other brother if only she went to help him sooner. So there's either some time limit, which I doubt, or it's because of the order of certain quests.

Or the wrong choice when you talk to him before the fight. Timelimit doesnt seem to be the case, never had something timelimited in the game iirc.

Stentor is what he is, dad-Wolf was pretty alright though but a traditionalist so when boy-Lexios (Or girl-Kass.) football tackled and fouled and sent the old fart they had as a goalie flying off the mountain during baby football finale he had to be sent off the mountain too because traditions.
Though I suppose that does mean the appropriate solution is to Sparta err football kick the old man off the mountain too during the reunion and then send Stentor into the afterlife too.
Spoiler: |
Though then Deimos has a little PTSD moment and you are now the sole owner of this fine Spartan hovel that you will likely never use for anything.

This liveservice is bullshit, i went through the game and thats it. There is too little to do and they should release that stuff all in once instead of dripfeeding. Cant be arsed to play the additional stuff.
The content is a joke in itself, we get new Costumes and weapon skins, again another Cyclops in just another enviroment (3rd Cyclops) and the increase of Merc tiers is also meh. There is no point to do that stuff in a game that is limited by what you can do. You play it once through the Story and thats it.
Silly

Yeah, just wait for the two story DLCs to be released.
I guess that the idea with this approach is to keep the game in the media sphere for longer so that there's more chance people buy it.

Was hoping level scaling could be disabled, seems odd that it's just a separate option for how the difficulty levels already handled scaling but perhaps it can be decoupled though a slider for how many levels enemies should be scaled up or down would be nicer and the ability to disable it or always match the player level although it does also impact rewards since a quest four levels lower than the player will give a similarly lower level item.
(But most of them are junk anyway once you get stuff for your specific playstyle.)
And yeah it's drip-feeding and I'm mainly just waiting for the rest of the season pass missions to see how these will be, fourth Lost Tale was also released yesterday as a mini-version on 7 Samurai giving about a hour or so of content through a few quests chained into a slightly larger event.
Spoiler: |
A breastplate of limited use as a reward and the romance subject of the moment also joined as a sailor with common tier so once we're over deep enough water I'm booting her off the boat.

Any overall thoughts for those who played both Odyssey and Origins? Which was best?
From what i've gathered (youtube) people seem to like Bayek way more + story seems a bit better in Origins?
Currently finishing Origins, really enjoying it even if it gets samey and it feels rather "bare bone", if you've played it for 2h then you know exactly what to expect for the rest of the game, pretty much, no real surprises. I guess this goes for a ton of games though.
And yes, i still like the combat very much, it's easy which makes it have a nice flow to it, i die all the time from those Elite bastards, so it's not super easy.
Edit: and shit, the fucking map, it's immense... i did not look at it very closely for a quite a while and when i started to really examine it I was extremely surprised to see that i had not even seen 50% of it. It feels waaay larger than Witcher 3 or Zelda BotW, but i dont think it is. I got the Season Pass cheap btw so i have the expansions which i think expands the map.

And some info on Assassin's Creed 3's remaster.
https://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/comments/ag603i/assassins_creed_3_remastered_info/
Quote: |
Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered Info
Haven't seen this posted yet
From a gameinformer article
'Most of the assets, like 3D models or textures, have been completely redesigned...'
In addition, the team has also addressed some of the in-game systems to bring them up to date, like improved menus and user interfaces.
Sounds pretty good! I can't wait for March to replay one of my favorite AC games
Edit: the rest of the info we know so far, shared by u/Chelf1
" According to an FAQ on the Ubisoft website, the remaster will boast higher resolution textures, new character models, a new Physically Based Rendering system for lighting, as well as denser crowds, environments and VFX. On top of all that, you'll be able to upscale the game to 4K and HDR. " From PC gamer
|
Not bad, doing more with it than I expected though some info was already available from earlier including that they were looking into changing some of the gameplay aspects as well so it's more than a quick re-release.
Also 1.1.3 is out but it primarily fixes a save game crash issue and silently also fixes the recurring nag screen for "BUY DLC HIDDEN BLADE PART 2!!!" or something like that which popped up constantly until it got quieted.

There is also a shitstorm about the ending of the second DLC episode. Apparently you are forced into a certain choice and cannot be a hardcore gay/lesbian/asexual.

Is it PBR, or they simply rerun their export scripts to export their original assets at 4x the size from before?

Finally downloaded the yarr version. Graphics are cool and runs very well on my 1080ti, but facial animations are really bad. Animations overall are very lacking of polish. Don't remember them being so bad in Origins.
