Anyone here switched region to Argentina? Or all you all still on India?
Any disadvantages, or advantages, from switching to one or the other? I'm still in EUR country but want to switch soon.

For me the main and only disadvantage with Leo Messi, at least comparing to Panjabi, is lack of Skrill to add wallet funds.

Yeah, but you can buy Steam wallet cards so not really an issue (or so I've read), they are available in almost every store here.

I decided to go visit Uncle Maradona. Was able to get Fractured but Whole (gold edition) for $5.16 when it's normal price is still $90. 94% savings.

I switched just before the November sale. Loaded up Steam Wallet with Paypal before switching, but have added via Steam Cards a couple of time since then. Bought a couple dozen games. No issues at all.

Note: You have to wait 48 hours after your last transaction in your "current" country before Steam will allow you to switch regions.

No, but you do need to appear to be in the country you are moving to in order to change to the new region. I just used a free trial of expressVPN on the Play Store and loaded the Android Steam app and changed my region in there and it was done instantly. After you move, you no longer need to appear to be in the new region, just use steam as normal and all prices will be of the region you moved to (assuming you are logged in).

Well, almost all games I've checked are cheaper in Argentina, so there's at least that. Some are a lot cheaper, like 35% cheaper, but most are just a bit cheaper though. I'm a bit worried about the unstable peso (although it's been rather stable for 4 months now), so I think it would make sense not to keep too many wallet funds. The rupee is much more stable, it's still around the same level as this time last year.

It also works adding your normal card to add funds, been doing this for years and I still got my account.

Haha yeah likewise, still living with cousin Aarav and aunt Shanaya. Sometimes the chicken tikka masala is more expensive than the asado but the difference for the most discounted games is relatively little. So far I'm ok with the compromise.

So if I have this straight you can use a VPN to set your location to India/Argentina etc. Log into Steam and select the new region as your home.... then turn off the VPN and log in as normal, adding funds to your account using paypal or card and start buying the games at the lower prices? ... I used to use a Russian account ages ago and had to have the VPN on to buy games I was gifting to my UK account. This sounds so much easier Smile

Me personally, I already have the funds in my steam wallet prior to going through everything. The wallet automatically gets converted.

The best wallet cards to get are GBP, because of the best conversion rate.

When I go thru a VPN and then try to change my region I get the following...

"You'll need to login to the Steam Client in this country to be eligible to change countries.

Your last Steam Client login country was: United Kingdom

You will not be able to change your country until you login into Steam from this new country."

Do I need to turn off Steam Guard or something or is there something else I'm missing? I've tried on an android tablet and also on my PC.

use vpn on your mobile device and computer at the same time. Make sure both devices are in the same country on the vpn.

Turn off your computer and try logging in with a new country just on mobile.

This got me sorted but I've been knocked back for a couple of days due to adding the credit from the steam cards ( 2x£10) I got ... it was mentioned above that 48 hours was needed after the last transaction but I thought it only applied to purchases. Anyway - no biggy... I can wait. Thanks for the replies guys.

I presume some stuff is region locked and I need to check what I buy - or am I wrong about that as well?

All new titles don't have region locks anymore, only some titles released < 2013/2014 have it, but mostly RU only, so don't switch to RU and you're OK.

Which region did you switch to?

Ah cheers mate. Haven't switched yet... won't let me until tomorrow but I've just moved into my new address in Buenos Aires Very Happy ... looking at some prices there are some very attractive prices in Argentina - as you said earlier, some aren't much less than India but some most definitely are.

Hmm, I tried switching from India to Argentina, but steam won't let me, always states that the last login to the steam client was from germany. Tried 3 different vpn services, tried it with only the pc logged in, only mobile logged in, both together... always the same error, even though steam seems to recognize my location is in Argentina (says so when I choose the US as my region). Last purchase was mid last week and I switched to India maybe 2 years ago, so there should be no restriction on the account... anyone knows what I can do?

Edit: Ok, turns out I am just stupid... had ArchiSteamFarm running on a raspberry, once I turned it off, the region change worked instantly... Embarassed
