How hard can it be to make a proper cross-hair nowadays? They keep reinventing this only to come up with the worst possible ideas.

I personally like Division 1 because of the setting. The night / snowy action was so much better than this current generic day cycle. Both visuals and atmosphere. This one looks just soulless. Sad

First CREW 2. Now Division 2.

Furthermore, it has been announced that Ubisoft and Epic will partner on "additional select titles" over the coming year.
The partnership will see PC version of The Division 2 available only on the Epic Games Store, and directly from Ubisoft.
Ubisoft confirmed that pre-orders placed on other platforms would be unaffected by the decision.
Epic is working with the publisher to integrate digital rights management software Uplay with its own online services.

Quote:
Chris Early, vice president of partnerships at Ubisoft added: "We entrust Epic to deliver a smooth journey for our fans, from pre-ordering the game and enjoying our Beta to the launch... "

Regional pricing is going to be a problem from what I know of the Epic launcher, though it's still available from Uplay and that mitigate it.

But I don't understand the decision at all, Valve also increased the split for "AAA" publishers so they get what, an extra 5% from this while losing access to the 100+ some million Steam accounts for PC and even if only a small part of those buy multiple games that's still a few million compared to Epic's launcher.

Seems, short sighted.
(No really! What else is new do tell! Razz )

EDIT: Unless Epic is somehow going crazy with their own funds from Fortnite and similar and buying publisher rights for several million dollars just to increase the attractiveness of their own client, I don't know that doesn't seem sustainable either.

Well...

I wonder how much time the mass of consumers needs to understand that Epic Store is about pleasing publishers not customers.

Seeing how many people defend Epic for their decisions and choices almost poaching existing publishing contracts and deals well it's going to take time and regular consumers readily defending corporate interests and choices will never not be weird or sometimes funny though also damaging in the long run.

It is kind of funny though as everyone said they hate Uplay so rather get those games on Steam, now I think those will rather buy them on Uplay then bother getting it through the Epic store.

The media is first to blame here for not taking any actions. I don't remember seeing one article that criticizes these practices.

Well my line of thought was that they're all wanting to avoid risking a blacklist or they're just jumping on easier existing info and parroting it for their videos or articles though I do think publisher blacklisting is still a major factor though it's not like they're going to completely slam everyone who reports even the tiniest issue.

But being buddies with the publisher does provide free keys and early access for reviews and what not although with the video review popularity almost exploding they're probably more selective nowadays.

Some of the larger sites might have more pull but even these often get caught up with repeating the same few things for a shorter video or article.

From a few posted images of SteamSpy sales data almost all Ubisoft titles are sitting around the two million sales mark too or higher (Though older titles will have been part of numerous sales as well.) so I do wonder what the deciding factor for this decision was but eh guess we'll never know but I find it strange with how established and well working they already had Steam and UPlay and getting customers used to the dual client stuff even bringing more control and functionality to Steam and now they're moving to Epic for this and some other select titles which I suppose we will see but higher profile that's probably Far Cry 5 New Dawn for one.

First bigger publisher on Epic's store too so it will be interesting to follow how things go but without any tools or stats well I guess it'll be difficult to tell unless Ubi themselves report any figures an then it might just be the combined total from their own UPlay client as well.

Heh with the price, discounts, third party sales sites and existing longer established features does the Epic launcher even measure up to the UPlay one at all and is it still Epic/Uplay similar to Steam/Uplay now with less features?
("Hey I had this amazing idea to make our client seem much better than the competition." Nah it's financial or some upper decision I suppose from who knows what lead to it really, Tencent? Nah probably not directly involved as such.)

Was looking worse / copy-paste Division 1 with summer setting and now with EPIC store, it's going to an easy pass. Laughing

The Epic exclusivity war, as if gaming didn't have enough problems already. Not that I care about the bland Calancydivision or Ubisoft in general but still, I hope such aggressive practices will eventually backfire, with things going back to normality again. Gamers act in mysterious(ly dumb) ways though...nothing would really surprise me anymore

Ubisoft is slipping up again.

I remmeber how they parted from steam if memory serves me rght and were only reelasing games on their own platform and doing online only sp games crap (assasins creed) and didnt have regiional pricing.

They went and got better with time. regional pricing on their own store no always online, releasing games on steam again

Now they have a relapse it seems:
Always online on beyond good and evil 2 for example, shutting of steam.

What i wonder is:

If they sell their games on uplay and epic gamestore for the same price why would anyone use the epic sore anyhow? Since instead you could directly get it from their own store probably for the same price or even cheaper since there is no real incentive to go there (unlike steam)

Imo only a matter of time before epic store will faceplant and blame pcgamers for it.
I wonder how they will justify pulling therope for their own store in the end.
