I am not sure yet if the problem is in the source (we know the morons cramped 4-6 episodes on one disk), or wither the encoder just did a poor job. Waiting for source.

So any chance we will see this in acceptable quality? Or do we have to wait for a faithful remake like... macgyver?

Wow, the first shot is so well lit and still we have a ton of noise and compression artefacts. This has not been recorded with expensive lenses or onto a medium which would support a higher resolution extraction years later.
This will never be released in a good quality

Neither was The Wire, but it's night and day.

After years spent chasing Byz Lat shows operating in Backlogington I finally got to tick this big box as well as an honorary member of the better late than never club(tm). Jesus H. christ on Aceveda's stolen bicycle, what a ride.
It was definitely not easy to create a cop show that lasts seven seasons and never (ever) gives the impression of suffering from some form of fatigue, but they pulled it off. Whether it's the relentless pacing with its unfiltered raw action or the engaging main plot or the numerous mini-cases that punctually provide a different perspective from the seemingly obvious one, every episode is smartly written and has something interesting to tell.
The best part of it is that there is no black and white, it's all a huge sea of ambiguous corrupted anti-PC grey dipped in shacky cameras, tenso close-ups...and smug ♪ ♫ just another daaaaayy's
All the main characters are complex and have proper developments, from good ol' Walton Goggins to CCH Pounderette & Dutchboy, Danny <3 and so on, without forgetting Glenn Close or my man Forest who contributes to making Season 5 the most remarkable one. The undisputed highlight however is clearly Vic Mackey, the one and only. He is not a good man despite his many efforts, his behavioural patterns are highly questionable, in fact, he's fundamentally a manipulative asshole with impulsive and narcissistic tendencies, but it's impossible not to be enchanted by his strong personality. He's the epitome of a fascinating anti-hero, in some ways I'd say Vic could almost be considered the Tony Soprano of the police world (I was reading that Chiklis himself actually claimed multiple times that without Gandolfini his character would have never existed, which does make sense). It's a bit of a shame that the actor never really managed to replicate such brilliant heights, though this is one of those rare cases of things lining up perfectly with him being the right person for the right job at the right time in his life.
The show ends in about the only logical way it could end, too, following its crazy disruptive escalation in a damn powerful way. It doesn't touch my personal holy HBO trinity captained by The Wire (most likely nothing ever will for me) but it's such a memorable and unique adrenaline-filled production that it has all the rights in the world to sit among the big boys. If for some reason there are still lazy pandas like me left in the wild, do yourself a favour and get those mkvdemos from the Armenians, you won't regret it!
