tbh pretty amazing marketing job the epic fellas managed to do , they have been shitting on steam for more than a years and now revealed their own thing righ after downfall of algorytm bug ... i guess they were in rush as the store is rushed as hell
red_avatar wrote: | Also, I really wish there were more filters to get rid of all those shitty games that pollute the search results. When I'm in the mood for a strategy game, I don't want to go through 500 crappy looking games made on a shoe string budget with zero originality that used the "strategy" tag because a tiny part of their game could be seen as strategic. |
makes me wonder where people always se those ... you really must go out of your way to find the shovelware form susual places ... but maybe you jsut mean the small indies with mediocre but not trash level titles who are pretty much exactly the ones who are raging the most about steam..
...and definitely they need to improve the discoverability and filters ... but so far by normal means i rarely find these anyway ... i guess baning meme and VN tags and i teached my discovery quee enough to not to show it to me, especially ever since i removed the shovelware listing curators |
Yeah, I can't see much of shovelshit on the store any more unless I go out of my way. I still get indies and hentai shit (I love the card earnings of cartoon titties). Used to be way worse though.

Steam is far from a haven of quality releases, a lot of the titles you guys cant help but preorder i consider shovelware fallout3+, anything bioware, new tomb raiders etc.

They do have some curation but you can submit your game here

Well with steam i did the "look through your queue" for some time, selecting no thanks to survival and sandbox games = hentai only. So pretty much this forum, indy retro news are all i got. On my radar for now if i ever get the time D2 sigma, Terraria 2 (not looking like it will happen), i'd give romero a chance with an fps if they actually do blacksite. Maybe anno 1800 but they raped me with derpness last release so might have to be an iso this time.

They are not making as much money as back in the day so each year their dissatisfaction grows. That's it.
Kickstarter ran its course, Bundles ran their course, Indies ran their course. Right now the in thing with the PC community is Battle Royale games and what not.
In 5 years it will be something else.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

But profits are absurdly through the roof... why bother investing in anything truly innovative or revolutionary if market just buys "name i've heard 3,4,5" or "name I've heard battlegrounds". Why im interested in StarCitizen as it proves innovation in technology seems virtually redundant asset to gamers now, completely different to late 90's maybe todays gamer just cant see it enough to care. Really interested to see how that game, if released is received.
ofc this is purely unlimited funds AAA im talking here, at the moment im only paying attention to SC and cdpr because they deliver storytelling far beyond other studios. The rest, meh its same shit copied and reskinned over and over.
Valve throwing everything at a VR title + vive 2 could also peak my interest, i would also say the VR game Onward is an absolute masterpeice on the level of wolfenstekn, doom, halflife etc.

I didn't say shovelware - I was talking about the gazillions of indie games that would have looked crap even on a NES. I enjoy indie games if they hire a competent art designer (Factorio for example looks great) but most can't be bothered and when 30 year old arcade games look a million times better there's really no excuse. Games back in the day were made in small budgets with just one or two persons doing the pixel art so it's not like it takes huge budgets.
And with every sale, I got to wade through 100 of these before I see one or two "regular" games. It just puts me off big time.

epics solution is limited to the unreal engine 4 and unity only, its not even interesting for now. but sure its nice to have multiple ways
if ms ensures crossplattform with steam (now after the xboner received keyboard+mouse support) its a huge win win situation for both companies and a step ahead of epics stuff. i just wish they get ea into that, sony would be the biggest loser in the end (and as they still dont want crossplay to happen its a good thing to teach them a lesson)

It is funny how garbage slow the Steam client becomes when even a terrible sale like this winter one comes around.

Are they back to upping the price before discount?
I saw 80% discount on Watchdogs 2 at 14€ and was like: wut? Apperantly the normal price is 69.99 that can't be right.

I don't think I've ever heard a game described as being "pure." What does a game become after a while, "tainted"?

It is still untainted by filthy discounts! Only plebs buy discounted pieces of art like this game!

It is a new politically correct term for "pretentious art games".
