Next year, I'm going on holiday to Iceland, and I would like to buy a new camera. I haven't bought a camera in 15 years, so not sure about the range of options.

I'm looking for a versatile, all in one camera (photo/video), but compact enough for holidays and walks. I'm no pro, so nothing too complicated. But as the purpose is for nature/wildlife, I'm also looking for the best possible zoom.

Anyone with recommendations?

I bought a Panasonic FZ1000 as I wanted a good zoom (to takes pic from afar and closeup), good picture quality and no hassle of switching lenses.

Ain't got no time for lense switching when you are strolling trough streets and so on! So it's OK in all parts and quite weak in darker scenarios, but that is to be expected as it's sensor is not huge Smile

Here some unprocessed pics in (as far as I can tell) original quality:
Regular Foto:

Max zoom:

Doggo caught me spying:

Me:

Birdie (motherfucker was hard to capture, super fast!):

Moon over mountain:

Zoom on the moon:

Exposure: 1ms

Exposure: 33.3ms

Some couple infront of cooling mist:

A red birdie:

Portrait:

Sun is setting in Madrid:

I met JJ and he took the camera:

All those buildings were just georgeous:

Back in germany, some grapes:

Some closeup on some plant:

I used as much zoom as I was hungry:

The european version is pal (50fps), but with a simple button combination you can switch it to 60fps mode (fullhd 60fps video, 4k 30fps)

If you want the RAW of any of the above just send me a message, I think I also have those.

Video quality is quite good but the audio of the inbuilt microphone is very bad, you should attach an external one if you want to hear more than the inner workings of the optical image stabilisator Very Happy

Oh and I didn't want to spend a fortune (:

What a great camera for that size! The price is justified but would have been waay over my budget Very Happy One can imagine what the future of the compact cameras will be Smile

Yeah the sony is a bit expensive, or is it, its amazing for that size, beats bigger cameras in many areas and the picture quality is insane for small compact camera. That panasonic is a great camera aswell, that is similar to the nikon coolpix P1000, which has insane zoom (24-3000) Very Happy.

The only problem I have with the p1000 is that the picture quality is even worse... Though I would love to have one, simply to gaze at the moon all day long <3

Oh btw regarding the pics above: No tripod, all pics taken with my shakey hands Smile

Thanks guys! The Sony camera looks amazing, although not very cheap. But these things last a long time with me, so it's a good investment.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

They are amazing cameras, especially A6000 and A6300 for the price (A6300 video quality cant be beaten for the price), A6500 is little bit overpriced tho, its basically same as A6300 but has IBIS built in, that is like 700 euros premium over A6300 in here.
