One more Battle Royale game?
Shit, that's why I haven't been buying recent games (apart from Hearts of Iron IV) for the last 3 years or something. With all of these PUBG, Fortnite and whatever, it looks like every game is the same and has the same mechanics...
I think I'll pass on Battlefield V voluntarily (I passed on BF:1 because I had nothing powerful enough to play it) and just wait for Enlisted to be released.

Yeah, now its not enough to buy the Deluxe herpiderp edition to play a day early or two, no now you need to shove some more moneyz into the great Origin Access BS to being eligible for early playtesting the Beta ^^

You do realise that you get 10% off on games when you have Origin subscription? It's pretty much free if you end up buying the game regardless of the what edition...

Doesnt matter, i dislike when someone tries to sell you a subscription in any kind even if you can remove it on a monthly basis.
It should be enough to buy the herpiderp edition alone like in the past to get access, not that i like herpiderp editions at all.
Also on a sidenote you wont save any money when you buy the game before launch in a retail store. And there are still enough casuals who do so.

Not that I agree with what they're doing ( almost two weeks of exclusivity is fucking shameful), but you can sub for $15, play it for the month, and if it's awful you're only out that $15 instead of $30-40 for a full key. If it's decent, well, you'll be able to snag a key on the cheap a month later most likely and make up for the difference you spent on the sub.
Works fairly well for me, as I usually play games hard for the first week or two and then move on to something else. By the time I plan on coming back the game's cheap anyway.
Not that I suspect this will be decent mind you. I fully expect it to be the worst in the series thus far.

Battlefield maps always look nice in trailers, all the modern Battlefield games had very few maps worth playing. There are always issues with the level design because they try to adapt these maps for all the game modes. Rush and Conquest don't really match.

So, we've got 8 maps at release. Narvik we know is shit because it was in the alpha/beta. Aerodrome looks like the latest version of Metro, so that's out. Rotterdam looks like an infantry focused slaughter-fest, so there goes that.
That leaves 5 potentially decent maps that embrace Battlefield's core of Infantry+Tanks+Planes, only 2 or 3 of which are probably going to be decent. So, no different than any other Battlefield lately. Most of the maps are crap, or designed with modes that are not Conquest in mind, leaving a sparse few that are worth it.

I played in the second stage of the technical alpha. I was disgusted with it, not due to performance, but the feel of the vehicle combat. Took way too many rounds to kill shit. The vehicles felt like they were forced in rather than an integral part of the map.
I've also got a sneaking suspicion that since there's no money it for them this time (no season pass), map updates are going to be far fewer with an extremely long time in between. They're going to resort to pointless shit like free cosmetic skins for soldiers/weapons in order to keep the experience "fresh" (with fresh meaning what can we unload onto the interns that make sub-minimum wage to do that shows we are updating the game).

The launch maps video looks better than anything I've seen so far trailer wise.
I didn't care much for the beta though and I think that this might be the first game since BF1942 that I haven't bought at launch. Just feeling no hype at all.
Possibly because I think I was kind of hoping for a bit of a BF1942 re-hash? I would have definitely been more up for it if I had seen some more of the famous WW2 battles - D-Day, Market Garden...Even Wake Island etc...meh
