Steam in your pocket:
We love handheld consoles. Now that smartphones and tablets are overtaking handhelds, we need more than ever good games to play, real games for gamers, to be played on a dedicated gaming platform.

Valve has opened a new Steam dimension with Steam Machines: Now you can choose if you play your favorites games on your PC, your TV, or your SMACH Z. Discover a new way of playing Steam games!

We have chosen AMD’s powerful embedded low-powered SoC with its blazing fast performance and power efficiency on portable devices. Thanks to their support for SMACH Z, the dream of playing your Steam games on the go is on its way to coming true.

"We love the project, it's pretty amazing! When we first met the SMACH Team we were immediately on board to help support them. SMACH Z will bring an exciting new dimension to Steam games." - Stephen Turnbull, AMD's Director of embedded product marketing.

-----------------------------------------------------------

More than 1000 games out of the box. And you don't need to purchase them again, just load and play any game on your Steam Library compatible with Steam OS.

More than 5 hours of battery life. Plus the option to add extra batteries to double the duration.

Powerful enough to play any game on the market: Portal 2, DOTA, Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, SOMA, Civilization V, Metro: Last Light Redux, Borderlands 2, The Witcher 2, ...
Haptic controls: We're following the Steam Controller standard, it will surprise you! And if you are more old-school gamer, take a look to our Magic Z-Pads!

-----------------------------------------------------------

They will never be able to fit all that into a handheld device and with a battery that will actually endure for more than 3 hours and without that thing being heavy as a brick Sad

And honestly, why don't they just use a 720p display? I'd rather have a nice 720p disply without ghosting, good darks and nice colors instead of a cheap 1080p that burns away all the energy Rolling Eyes

And delivery in october 2016 yes yes sureeee

"Steam in your pocket", we are gonna need bigger pockets men Laughing... Sounds good idea, but how they are gonna pack this all into that tiny shit with good battery life. Sounds also unreal that this kind of AMD SOC can play modern games at fullHD even at lowest settings.

To be fair the prototype is running on Intel Atom Bay Trail while the final product is supposed to have an AMD "Merlin Falcon RX-421BD (12-15w) SoC at 2.1 GHz with Radeon R7". The video I posted awhile back is what the final hardware is supposedly capable of. However I do believe that they're in over the heads trying to fit the AMD SoC inside a portable device which is likely going to have heat issues and poor battery life. Laughing

If this isn't bullshit and doesn't end up costing more than the last iPhone for enough battery life to play one game of War Thunder at each charge, it could be quite an awesome thing.

That's one hell of a load of "Ifs" though. Especially for something that's been living in vaporwave purgatory for the last three years.
