Also highly rumored as returning are Sophie Turner as Jean Grey and the titular Phoenix, James McAvoy as Professor X and Nicholas Hoult as Beast. However nothing is official currently.

This was surprising. The trio, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbencer, all return for this sequel. They must have cost a lot of money to Fox because these were new contracts. Lawrence must have been muuuch cheaper when she first signed 7 years ago.
Also Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) return. No Jubilee
Simon Kinberg writing and directing, in his directorial debut.

after apocalypse, its probably just best to cut their losses and reboot dat shit again sophie turner was a horrible decision... they thought just taking an actress from GoT would get them some of that shows hype, but shit me she is an atrocious actress and pretty damn rough on the eyes.
Disney is about to buy FOX for $60B, so you'll see the X-Men and Fantastic 4 in the MCU not so far in the future.

it's all speculative.
like... no one knows exactly what disney is paying 63billion for.
they're saying that the lad from fox is gonna take over disney movie productions.... like which is stoopid.
feige talks aboot wanting to work with xmen... is cool and all... then you got that fella who did logan going all this could be disastrous to xmen franchise...
peeps are saying fox shows is gonna cancel after this deal...
no one knows... it's all click bait speculation...
they might get distribution rights for fanfour and do a fanfour movie....
dark pheonix might end with a cliff hanger that includes avengers...
every fanboy right now is hoping for fanfour, xmen, deadpool, and other properties fox owns that they didn't do shit with.
no they buying their production shits...
so that pretty much means all their stock...
fanfour is owned by someone else... but fox owns distribution rights... or some shit.
it's all weird but yeah they buying all their shit... saving a dying company is what they're doing.
2.5 weeks of reshoots. Which is nothing, the only reason I'm posting it is that it debunks the rumors that they were going to be having 3 months of reshoots!
If the Disney acquisition had finished, I would think they were adding some post credits scene that merges the universe to MCU or some shit. But since it's still, technically, going and it will take a while for the deal to formally close, nah.

This one will probably be the last "big" (non-spin-off) X-Men non-Disney film, as they need to rethink how they are going to integrate the characters to the MCU, and whether they are recasting everyone, or some actors will survive the process. (For example, goes without saying Reynolds will continue to be playing Deadpool for the foreseeable future, no matter the universe.)
In the meantime, they can be making Deadpool/X-Force films as they are pretty standalone, and Deadpool can literally show up one day in the MCU without any deep explanation and audiences will just roll with it.
I think there's still the opportunity for Jackman to return as Wolverine for a special "one last time because you asked for it" appearance in a Deadpool film, as Reynolds is continuously "harassing" him to return, be it in real life, social media, interviews, hell, even in DP2 itself, and even Jackman had said that if he could appear in the MCU (at a time where he didn't know such a possibility existed), he might had chosen to not retire. I'm not saying there's a big chance. But a small chance, I do believe exists.

I wonder which alternate universe this is. I read the comics in the 90'ies where Jean Grey turned into Phoenix (and colluded with demons) during.. whatever it was called (can't be arsed to find the comics, no idea where I've stored them). It was a mashup with a lot of MC heroes incl. Spoderman. Or is this some alternate reality version or something? For someone like me who hasn't read Marvel comics since the late 90'ies I suppose this is one of the alternative worlds with a very different story.

The Marvel universe is a mess. There are so many "what ifs" and different timelines etc. that there's really no point in even trying to follow them and it's better to just go with flow of what's happening now.
He's talking about the comics, not the films. The continuity of the films is loose to say the least, and that's ok. I don't really care how Logan fits with the rest of the films, I care that it's a great film.

All I could think was "meh" and the whole Xavier being too nice to really obvious villains-in-the-making - who will probably turn good/self-destruct at the end or something - is getting tiresome.
I feel like I've watched the movie before seeing it.
Negative expectations. The new (young) mutants are just pure shit in terms of casting, zero screen presence.
