The Predator 5/10

Don't know what I was expecting, but what I got was lots of jokes, gore and macho stuff.

I mean I like macho action movies, but this was somehow way over the top and everyone was a badass...even women and kids.
Spouting profanities at each other at an alarming rate and never easing down.
Plotwise...I won't go there, it was just stupid. Laughing

Pretty much agreed. It was mixed emotions throughout the movie.

The Meg: 5/10. Kept me watching, so I guess its ok. Take it or leave it. Nothing great. Jaws still much better. Average to below average acting, cheesy lines. I dunno. Just watched it to see how much dialog is not hard coded...Missed alot!

Hearts Beat Loud - 7/10

Sappy but quite enjoyable.

Fahrenheit 451 (2018) - 2/10

Fucking hell, that was bad. The whole first 15 minutes had me thinking: who the fuck gave the okay on this cringe. It didn't get better at all. Laughing

Deadpool 2 - 7/10

A lighthearted popcorn superhero flick done right is like seeing a unicorn, wonder where Deadpool is hiding that horn. It's far from perfect, not everything gels as it should and several jokes miss the mark, but the sparks of comedic brilliance and maniacal action make up for the shortcomings (..sort of). The hilarious jabs at the easily offended culture, the skydiving scene and regrowing techniques, the banter, absurdly frenzied violence and the 4th wall smashing bits, it's all the good stuff that makes such a carefree tone so unique and less stale to me than the usual "gotta saev teh univurse1!" routines.

I liked the sidekicks as well, the Zazie chick (giggity) rocked her role, Brolin's character was more interesting than I initially thought, same for the Ruskie chrome fellow. Seeing the kid re-enacting the Wilderpeople X-Force made me giggle, the result ended up fitting the tone though. I hope there will be a third one in a parallel universe *tinkles with the device*

Watching this for the first time?

I remember waiting for it's re-runs on HBO. Eddie Murphy's under-rated gem. Very Happy

Contratiempo/The Invisible Guest 7.5/10 A good Spanish film with good acting from all the cast only let down by a somewhat convoluted ending.

Best scene for me is in the parking lot with the dog, when I saw this movie in theaters I could not stop laughing, don't think it would be as funny if I rewatched.

Tom Calancy's Sicario: Mexican Wildlands of the Soldado E02 - 6,5/10

Well, that was awkward. I had pretty high expectations after thoroughly enjoying the first Sicario, and this sequel was actually heading into the right direction too with an interesting setup, great visceral(tm) action, solid directing job and acting as per usual.

Then at some point the logical thread just said a la mierda, strange resolutions started to pop up in sequence and the situation lost credibility near the end culminating with the silly cliffhanger. Not a bad movie by any means, but it is built in a bizarre way and the writing shows some flaws (apparently the original script was heavily modified, and it shows). Hopefully Sicario 3: Second Day of the Soldado: Venganza del Asesino: Act One will go back to being a bit more coherent again.

It's funny seeing how many people notice that something goes terribly wrong at an exact point in the movie Very Happy

Haha yeah it really was noticeable, a shame because until then things were going well. Sollima is very talented, but he shouldn't have interfered with the script in order to make it more personal, it just felt hamfisted and went from being Sicario to a Walker Texas Ranger's Soap spin-off.

SOLO - 3/10.

Finally finished this. I had to stop watching this at the first time as the camerawork was too hectic for me (one shot lasted no more than 2-3 seconds, although I was drunk at the time so I might be wrong). It felt like they toned it down after ~1h though.

Overall, this movie felt pointless, didn't like the solo dude, couldn't see past the actors, almost boring...

Please Disney, do not go full Marvel.

My rankings for SW movies:

V: 9.5/10
IV: 9/10
III: 8/10
VI: 7.5/10
VII: 6.5/10
I: 5/10
II: 5/10
VIII: 5/10
R1: 4.5/10
Solo: 3/10
