Upgrade - Really well made film with some nice concepts. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was after reading a review in Empire Magazine which only scored it 3*

For me it was the other way. Having heard how good this movie was, I was surprised that compared to the opinions how "bad" actually it is.

Its of course not a bad movie, but its still a cheap scifi movie.

Same here. I don't get what's so great about it.

I get there are some good parts. I enjoyed them. But that's it.

Great visuals and great performances, but everything else was really... bad?

Hey which cut did You watched?
Shining is one of my fav movies but I totally hate the long cut (the US cut). It adds a lot of pace breaking exposition and just nonsense.
The European Cut (2 hours exactly) is a cut done by Kubrick and preferred by him. It is much better paced in my opinion.
It's one of few movies that I prefer shorter versions (Alien 1 too)

Edit:
That shorter EU cut don't have Danny talking to his stupid finger for 10 minutes in the beginning, stupid spooky skeletons and so on. in my opinion it just flows better

The shorter EU Cut. It's like a show off for some good cinematography but at the same time the story and events happening on screen don't make a lot of sense. What is considered to be so great about it if I may ask?

OK now yesterday I also saw the Nun. It was worse on all aspects except for some of the scenes which were actually... a tiny bit scary. I can clearly see that a lot of people of today would find the Nun to be a much better "Horror" Movie than the Shining, though at this point in time I find those stupid jump scares absolutely shit. The only good scene in the whole movie was the only creepy scene WITHOUT an actual jump scare Laughing 3/10 But this means that a lot of the shitty horror movies that I saw in the last year have to be graded even lower. Wish upon is now at a solid -10/10 I guess.

So You've seen the "better" cut.
What I like is just the Nicholson's performance, atmosphere and cinematography. Story is just simple amityville really. The movie aged weirdly, I agree.
For me it's also a bit more subjective because winter + confined space ... I just like this setting (That's why The Thing 1982 and Pitch Black are my favorite movies).

back to the topic:
Ghost in The Shell 1995 - 7/10. Beautiful and fantastically animated. The drawings and cyberpunk atmosphere is just dreamlike... but That's just it. It's a cyberpunk galore but story is pretty simple and explained a bit too much with one or two too many exposition scenes. I know it's a classic and I can see why.

@lolozaur
Lol. I agree. It's no Raimi spiderman and Tom Holland is just terrible. And why would they choose him to play Nathan while there is real Nathan Laughing
I just don't like that Spider Man is now part of MCU and coexist in the same world as all these other assholes. I liked when it was just his world in Raimi movies.

The Deaths of Ian Stone - 4.5/10
It didn't grabbed my attention, was kind of boring and the story was meh.

Metamorphosis The Alien Factor / Deadly Spawn II - 5.9/10
It has some great monster effects but the movie is a tonal mess. Ii was just sliding back and forth on the comedy - horror scale. It had potential and I think that the saddest thing about it.
Overall I found it an enjoyable good bad flick.

Gay Niggers From Outer Space: Arrow / 10

It's.... it's.. I've seen it before but someone mentioned it saturday night after I took entrance fees to a gig and partied with the band afterwards and we split a joint in a cemetery. When I got home I downloaded it and fell asleep halfway through.

It is so bad and so off and I wonder what kind of hallucinogenic substances the makers were tripping on when they thought out this piece of.. whatever. An experience, just not.. something I'd recommend for someone interested in watching a proper movie.

What pumpy said. I especially liked Pontypool, 30 days of night, Misery(More thriller than horror) and Snowpiercer (holy shit snowpiercer).
Aside from those:
-10 Cloverfield Lane - no snow but claustrophobic setting. Good movie
-Pitch Black - Again no snow but very white sand and claustrophobic setting + stalking
-Event Horizon - Space, claustrophobic setting, hell
-It Follows - No snow at all but good stalking and atmosphere
-The Dyatlov Pass Incident - Snow, ghosts, horror... medicore but good setting
-2011 The Thing is not as good as 1982 but worth watching
-Whiteout - ok, snow, thriller
-The Colony - medicore but snow and atmosphere are excellent
-Maybe Hateful Eight? - Snow, mostly one room setting, thriller
-Fargo - lol ofcourse
-Extinction - medicore but again, good setting

Some way over the top really unbelievable action sceens... just too unreal. Rock is usually good, but it was the movie itself that was holding this one back. Recommend, but dont expect much.

Solo 6.5/10

It was okay but basically a simplistic version about the beginnings of the Solo, Chewie and Lando friendships. I could list pros and cons but there's no point. I wasn't disappointed since it has been slammed pretty bad so my expectations weren't high. The opposite was the case with TLJ which really pissed me off (or rather the combined idiocy of Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson, two people I really can't stand due to their moronic butchering of what could have been something good).
