ya'll say this worthabuy guy is right, while he says back in the day it was all about tactics an not just pew pew and cod like 360 no scopes while in the same time we got a bc2 video on this page were exactly this happens. wtf guys?
he plays with randoms of course there is no tactic involved, you can be happy if they revive you after your death.
the combat feels just like bf2 and bf3, if you play like and idiot you get killed in no time, if you in a good squad you will not, or atleast be revived in a few seconds. back then it was just the same.
yes the maps are not as large, but still large enough. yes there is no commander who tells you this and that but it's not needed anymore since the maps are not as large anymore. it's enough if your squad leader does that now.
who the fuck want's to run 20 minutes through the desert for nothing?

well like i said in this post already i had no hopes for this game but after playing the first 2 days alone with randoms i had already some fun. since today i played with my friends and we owned every map, it was even more fun and we all preordered it on cdkeys and we can't wait for the release.

maybe it will be a flop and maybe it will be dead after a few months since all this hate is going on, but i don't care. i will get as much as i can out of this 40€. for me this game is fun.

also all my friends who preordered played battlefield in the past and feel exactly the same.
one of my friends didn't liked it and he is actually a cod player. so just for those people who say that this plays like cod are obviously wrong.

The "quality game-play" line graph took a steep fucking nosedive (pretty much off a cliff) in just the past few years alone, much less the past eight. Very Happy

Now, for the first time in a long time, I'm left without a go to shooter. Battlefield was always there. Now there's nothing. It's either the mouth breathing armchair colonels of ARMA, or the screeching tards of "Battle Royale game #2,103". I guess Rising Storm 2 is the only in-between, though that's still pretty janky despite all the work that has gone into it.

I'm not a fan of the worthabuy dude generally, but everything he said is on point.
The maps are so ridiculously small that it does feel like a Call of Duty, there is so much chaos and the capture points are right next to each other. You just keep running forth and back between capture points and there is no real feeling of progress or forward momentum.
Given this the enemies can simply pop up from all sides because everything is so frantic and confusing. The mechanics are fine, but the maps are just horrible and ruin the game.

There's the new mode that gives the feeling of progress, one team defends and the other attacks, and it continues over a few rounds. Forget how it was called tho Razz

I have not watched the videos but compared to Battlefield 1 it is not more dumbed down, it's the opposite.

No more full health regen, limited ammo, no dorito shooting, slower paced gameplay, limited tank ammo.

I'm really liking it so far. Okay, it doesn't have a real WW2 vibe, but I like the changes they made.

There are improvements, absolutely, but overall, it's moving in the wrong direction.

Ofc, we have to see the other maps, but it looks like it's again the same thing as in the previous BF's, a lot of space, but most of it is unused and the action is all concentrated to a tiny area in the middle, making it more CoD than BF.

Oh, one thing I really like is the Tank turret speed being fixed now and not dependent on your mouse sensitivity. Makes playing as Tank a lot more realistic and less arcade-ish.

As for me buying it, well, I think if I can get it below 30$, I might consider it down the line.

It isn't "not fun at all". And the FPS market is very shallow as it is anyway. There isn't much alternatives really, other than playing the older BF's Smile

Nice to see you've played it.

I gave it a whirl this morning across both maps (didnt like the snow one at all coz we got buttraped) but I was actually impressed by this game.

Compared to BF1 this thing feels better overal, gunplay feels much more on point. Squads are actually fucking important now, if you run and gun its insta death on one of the maps, you have to actually use your head.
I hated the default medic gun but overall I am impressed by this. Hope that the other maps are as good as rotterdam coz i like that map.

The same thing was said about BF3 when they compared it to BF1942 and BF2, so that argument is nothing new.
Maybe Mac shouldn't be talking about map sizes as BC2 map sizes were tiny compared to BF1942 and he still liked it. He is now just grasping at straws not to like this game as in terms of game-mechanics there are almost only improvements.

No, I don't mean just smaller than BF1942 and BF2, I played all the newer Battlefields so far as well, but the BF5 maps are simply FUCKING SMALL in comparison to even the newer ones. Laughing

Now I haven't seen the new map in BF5 (downloading it now) but I do recall that BF3,4,Hardline and 1 all had one or two maps that were pretty small in comparison to the rest.

Edit:
Those smaller maps are of course much more focused on infantry combat than vehicular combat. This is also a strong selling point (since BFBC2) for quite some time, to focus more on the infantry combat side of things rather than the vehicles.

The only thing I'll say is that the air combat is god awful in this beta. I hated planes in BF1 and BF4. BF3 was fun in the choppers but hated jet combat.

1942 had awesome dogfights even the xbox version they released like 7 years ago was cool aerial combat.
These modern bf games are terribad for that.
Rest of the game impressed me.

It is definately a holey shit wtf is going on at the start kinda game but i guess learning it and playing in a good squad is where this game will really shine.

I played some rounds this afternoon and evening, it's a strangely mixed battlebag. Everything is still damn too fast like an ADHD party starring nosc0pe Forrest Gumpmen, but at least they got the shooting part right this time (sort of Razz): pewing around feels more like the pre-BF1fields and the approach overall is a bit more methodical with the limited ammo, no full health regen and less reliance on obsessive spotting + super Leeroy mode.

The visuals/sounds are fine as always (albeit not a technological leap), minus the fact that I get plenty of pesky framerate drops that caused me several deaths (whereas BF1's beta ran buttery smooth and looked just as good, if not better). Despite some screaming Anitas here and there the atmosphere isn't as silly as I imagined, although the character customization is locked in the beta so it's difficult to tell how the final game will fare.

What doesn't really convince me is indeed the layout of the maps, they're designed for quick run 'n gun action and feel extra-compact (somewhat "tunnel-ized"). The only mode that matters to me in a BF game is Conquest, so that ain't optimal. It doesn't help that vehicles have a lightweight level of importance here, as a tankman myself I really miss how the classic Battlefields handled that part also including basic strategies and positioning, it feels like a missed opportunity (again) to be honest. Lukewarm/10

Played it at a mates house and IMO it's dreadful. It's console tripe for kids who crave instant gratification.

Damn it's sad to see how far this series has fallen. They had a golden opportunity to cater for gamers craving an immersive fps mp experience but are more interested in chasing the COD crowd.

For the sake of gaming i hope this tanks hard.

Gamers don't have the long patient attention spans of many a decade ago I'm afraid so its basically now quick-fix insta-action these days. Sad really.. into one fad moment but once exhausted/expelled, onto the next quick joy ride.. rinse/repeat. No real human "take time along the way to smell the flowers" moments anymore. Sad

I don't get the CoD comparisons, it's still a way off from that kind of gameplay imo. But it's not a proper BF either :/ Remind me more of Battlefront, a soulless game with lots of infantry pewpew and some rubbish vehicles sprinkled on to tick the box "see? its battlefield!"

The desert map in BF1 was the closest we recently got to the classic BF gameplay, but none of the 2 beta maps of 5 is even remotely like that Sad

Maps are terrible. Both of them. Very small and they don't feel like was put any thought into them. It's just bunch of assets thrown together without any sense. So while i like the gunplay, I'm not sure i will get the game if this is the best they can do with maps.

Yeah, it's really the maps that are killing it for me right now. It's just a big kill zone and the side who kills faster, wins. There is no room for tactics. Just head-on pushing.

If that is correct its blatant racism and it seems like there is a rabid sjw making the decisions for this turd of a game, hope it tanks badly.
