don't really worry about gear outside of one decent set during story
after story you unlock HR (high rank) and that's where the real mon hun begins, HR has all new sets/weapons that are actually good and the ones you wanna get but no you don't need all sets, you just pick and choose parts based on what you like/stats if you wanna min max etc.
you can make all armor sets/weapons decent to a degree through upgrading (HR sets) but there's always gonna be those that perform much better than the rest and those are the ones you'll wanna get because mon hun is a very min maxy game. each category of weapon has a couple of really good weapons but the majority are just kinda eh

yeah but it's less focused, you might be better off just going to a specific investigation/side quest for those
the way mon hun works is
story mode > unlock HR
almost the rest of the game will be done through investigations because they offer more rewards (you get investigations from one of the npcs in the quest hub, and from finding tracks - so any time you find a track in HR be sure to pick it up!)

I'm really enjoying the game a lot, especially with friends. Sucks how you have to watch the cut scenes though before you can join others. I'm also struggling with the controls in heated battles using kb/m. Trying to change from whetstone to potions to antidote, etc. Is very difficult when you are getting hit. Overall though, I can see putting in a lot of time on this.

Where do i find blueprints or whatever is needed to know which resources i need to craft/upgrade equipment? For example, in case of weapon upgrades i can see that under the specific upgrade type i can upgrade the weapon 4 times. But when i click on that particular upgrade to see the requirements, some of the ingredients are marked with question marks.

Why? He is right with everything he has said. The way the coop is done int his game is terrible and for a game which is advertised as coop first, this is unacceptable. The game is fun when it works, but the whole complications with creating a coop session and then hoping it won't fall apart, completely destroys the game.

What is the reason though? I doubt the Chinese goverment of all goverments cares if a game has bad controls or crashes once in a while. There muist be some other reason?

So far I'm enjoying the crap out of this 
Played ~40h+ since the release
Got to HR... 13 or 14, just killed Nergigante last night.
Only thing I dislike about this is the partying system. You practically NEED 4 people if you want to party, with 2 you're at an disadvantage.
For example, if I have some boss at a 'farm' stage (I can kill it without any troubles) I can down it in 2-5 minutes. The moment I add a friend, it takes ~10min+

Man this game looks horrible with the massive black bars at ultrawide resolution (yet someone has already hacked it to work with cheat engine in 1 day, but not recommended to use atleast for now), not sure why Crapcom wont do it themselves, absolutely retarded.

Its always the same, they claim shit that wont make it in the end and the results are the ones we just have here. False promises to increase pre orders.
Also didnt they say they give the console DLCs later on for free or something like that ? IF so i highly doubt it when i take a look at the steampage where you can buy additional gestures or stickers for 3-5 bucks (this is discounted).
If they charge you for crap like that they are gonna milk this fucking game to the max, thats granted since its Capcom.

Bought it, saved £10 through allkeyshop, so that's good in my book. Restarted once, because the females eye selection is just horrendous, there was literally ONE eye that was somewhat passable to put on my character.
Only encountered two issues so far. First is the ridiculously broken net code. Same as Dark Souls, it's a complete toss-up if it decides to work or not, and even if it "works" there is 0% guarantee that the connection will last through a single hunt, let alone prolonged coop play. Thankfully I really couldn't give a rat's ass about MP, it's just annoying to go through some hassle to enable offline play.
The second is the controls. I played through DS1-3 with kb/m and had very little trouble getting used to the controls. Here, a controller is a must. Thankfully I still had my xbox one that came with my Rift. I was spine surfing Anjanaths in no time with my dual blades, while i could barely manage to dodge out of charging monsters with kb/m. Sadly I just cannot see it being "fixed" in any way, the game is just not built for it. The team responsible for the port obviously did the best they could, but there is only so much they can do with what they were handed.
Other than these, the game is a fucking blast. But avoid like the plague if you don't have/like controllers, or really want to play coop.
