Sounds about right, I agree too. That said, for me it was a matter of minutia really, a few inconsistencies here and there, perhaps a bit of rush involved during the last step, which made the season lose some cohesion after its (solid, in my opinion) build up.
In the end though a slightly less satisfying Fargo is still heaps above the majority of the TV shows out there, so I can't complain really. Overall, 'twas yet another bloody great experience.
Spoiler:
I actually appreciated the final scene, with the strong ambiguity aspect (Inception-esque ) and the viewer who's supposed to pick..whatever he wants to believe.
Along with the complete randomness of the events underlining the Fargo dogma that sometimes there's just no logic an no one gets what he deserves. There's no right or wrong. "Good as new!"
“Please don’t tell people this is the end,” says Fargo series creator Noah Hawley about the recent news that there may never be another season of the FX show.
So season 4 is not a definite no but might not be for quite some time.
As a fan of the series, this season overall didn't cut it for me.
Spoiler:
What I strongly didn't like is the lives of the main characters going in circles all throughout the season, with nothing really changing except for some of their deaths in the later episodes.
I couldn't really care about most of them.
And for some reason, the beta characters all chose to stop learning from their mistakes. It's like beta characters are destined to remain betas, no matter what. Why? People ARE capable of learning, improving.
It really deteriorated, unfortunately. I think the first 5 episodes where the best of this series so far, 10/10 and ended with some weak 6/10 ep's... Overall i think it's the best season together with the first.
Hope they decide to go with a 4th season eventually.
To me the finale was bittersweet, as for the others 2.
I really liked the last scene (with one of the best villain in the last years btw) shaped like "Lord of War", with the final left opened.
In general I really liked it: there were some under-standard things (mostly due to Ewan McGregor's characters, I have to say), but in general really good stuff.
I stil find it better than 2nd season, mostly because of the characters, less in number and better balanced, not mentioning the far less "wtf" moments.
I'd really miss a 4th season, maybe they don't have others "real story" to tell about the magical land that is Minnesota.
A fourth season of “Fargo” could air in 2019, FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said Friday during his presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
Landgraf said that he has spoken with series creator Noah Hawley and that Hawley has an idea for a new installment of the critically-acclaimed show.
In 1950, at the end of two great American migrations - that of Southern Europeans from countries like Italy, who came to the US at the turn of the last century and settled in northern cities like New York, Chicago - and African Americans who left the south in great numbers to escape Jim Crow and moved to those same cities - you saw a collision of outsiders, all fighting for a piece of the American dream. In Kansas City, Missouri, two criminal syndicates have struck an uneasy peace. One Italian, one African American. Together they control an alternate economy - that of exploitation, graft and drugs. This too is the history of America. To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons.
Chris Rock plays the head of one family, a man who - in order to prosper - has surrendered his oldest boy to his enemy, and who must in turn raise his son's enemy as his own. It's an uneasy peace, but profitable. And then the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for routine surgery and dies. And everything changes. It's a story of immigration and assimilation, and the things we do for money. And as always, a story of basically decent people who are probably in over their heads. You know, Fargo.
That's a great premise, me likey. I'm quite curious about Chris Rock, he's not an obvious choice but who knows, comedians are often capable of nailing dramatic roles. (Plus, when it comes to Fargo there is always going to be extremely awkward and absurd bits amidst the serious tone )
If anything Fargo can make a man out of Chris SparklingSmiles Rock.
I´m betting the role does not allow for him to smirk, somewhat like Woody Harrelson cheers > Natural Born Killers
Fargo will return on Sunday, April 19 at 10pm ET/PT. The season's first two episodes will debut that night, with one new episode to follow each Sunday after. New episodes will also premiere on Hulu on FX the following day.
seems generic. Absolutely loved S3, seen it 3 times, doubt this will be even close unfortunately, don't care for the actors here either. Hope i'm wrong though since it's been one of my all-time favorite shows.
