Man I started playing this game 2 weeks ago... and have been playing it daily now, it's incredibly fun. I remember trying it during the beta and I not liking it. It sure has come a long way, and dev support is awesome. The community is fantastic as well, everyone is really helpful and explains you the systems, haven't encountered a single toxic player yet.

Anyone who likes a good shooter and loot mechanics should give this game a try, it's insane. Shooting and traversal is so incredibly fast and fluid it's a joy in itself. Add all the customization options and all the events, you can keep yourself busy forever.

And I was sceptical because of the free2play mechanics, but I have 70 hours in the game now and never felt like hitting a paywall, haven't paid a dime yet, and so far I'd really only spend money on cosmetics. But if you have tons of time you can grind for more mods and trade those to other players for the premium-currency with which you can buy everything as well.

Really excited what the future brings for this game, feels like something new is around every corner.

Focusing on quests is a good idea for starting out. They usually give frame blueprints as rewards, just be sure that if a frame is only obtainable through a quest try not to sell it. It way cheaper to buy a frame-slot than the frame itself.

Even with some issues in Plains of Eidolon, it's very nicely done. The bounties don't get boring at all (or at least for me till now). I'm enjoying it more than I expected. Very Happy

As for starting/getting back, focussing on quests sure rewards and unlocks a lot of places/quests which are beneficial in your journey.

As for rewards, most of them reward you with frame blueprint while you have to hunt for the parts/Neuroptics/Chassis/Systems etc.

You should also join a clan where you can get a lot of blueprints (full set - Banshee/Nezha/Volt/Wukong/Zephyr) and bunch of other very useful stuff (weapons/companions/arch wings, etc).

Don't forget to check market in-game and buy low-level weapons with credits and craft. Smile

I must admit that this game grows on you the more you play, it's getting better and better. So much goodiness for absolutely free, this is like a dream compared to other similar games (I'm looking at you Bungie scum!).

This is my 2nd attempt to get into this game and this time I'm hooked for good. My 1st attempt was last year, played it for about 20h it was fun at first but then I felt I didn't do any progress and I was under impression that it's too grindy for my taste.

It's not a very good idea to go into this game completely blind (most games are better when they surprise you though) so it it can feel like running in circles and you are not aware of 90% what this game can offer.

So my advice for new players is to look for some beginner guides to somewhat speed up the step learning curve and don't give up too early as it opens up really slow BUT it's hella worth it Exclamation

I also have gotten back into that after several years and am having a blast. I’m still learning a lot and have been reading guides and tips here and there and it’s helped a lot.

I’m still a bit lost on mods though. I have tons of them but I’m not sure what I should do with them. I know you can upgrade them, fuse hem, sell them and what not. But what is worth upgrading, fusing and selling? I noticed several that have a crack in them as well and they have flawed in their name. Should I even hang onto those?

Thoughts or suggestions anyone? Thanks.

Generally speaking the most optimal way to use mods earlish in the game is to rise the main stats of a weapon/item, let's say you have a rifle that has 5 slash, 5 impact, 20 puncture damage, assuming you have a mod +5% for any of it's stats only rising of the puncture gives you noticable boost to damage. Similarly with other stats if you have a weapon with very small clip don't waste your mod capacity on expanding it, it's better to invest in reloading speed in such case.
Upgrading is fusing and it vastly improves the mod's stat, just remember it costs much more with every new fuzing level and ups also the draining level by 1 per level.
Also don't forget that if an item has polarized slot to try to match the polarization of a mod to slot to lower the draining x2, then you can fit more mods or fuze the installed ones (preferably the matched polarization one).
For more advanced modding you can try to combine different elements like for example heat and frost gives you new element - blast.
As for the flawed (broken) mods you can sell them for endo, they are lesser versions of normal ones with worse stats and less fusing capability.
The mods part of this game is really great - so many possibilities to twinker and adjust to your playstyle and there are literally hundresds of them, for few first dozens hours of playing you see only tip of an iceberg, it's sooo much more than at first glance I'm loving it.

Awesome tips! Thank you! Especially about the selling and fuzing.

Is it worth it to do the transmute deal? It mentions a chance at a rare mod. Thanks again!

No, it's not worth it unless you have thousands of mods and don't really care about endo much either. It's pure RNG gamble and odds of getting a useful mod is very low.

As for mods in general, don't fusion anything at the start. Just use them on default ranks and once you are comfortable with your build, then fusion it. This way you won't be wasting endo too much since you need a tonne of it.

Have at least 2 copies of each mod before dumping the rest. One at max and other a low rank so you can always use those on other weapons/frames when you get.

Check prices for rare/gold mods on https://warframe.market before dumping. Most of the rare mods sell well and you never know till you check. Smile

You will 100% need to fusion mods once you advance to T2+ zones else you will have a hard time sustaining/clearing.

If you are playing on steam, have a tab opened of the following, so you wouldn't have alt+tab every time you want to check something.

For market (buying/selling) - https://warframe.market
Event/activity tracker - http://wf.poedb.tw/us/ (or) https://tenno.tools
General wiki as it is very useful and filled with every information - http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/

PS: don't forget the main quest line. It's nice, long, and also rewarding. The side and additional quests are a great way to get frame blueprints and also some cool weapons.

Ahh. Alrighty. That helps a lot! I just got one frame up to lvl 30 as well as the weapons I had equipped and am now mastery rank 4. I’m working on a new set now. Once I understood a bit. Ore about how the loving in general works, the more I am looking forward to actually trying out new frames and weapons. Like you mentioned, in doing the quests as they come up and finished the arch wing line a few days ago. I’m actually working I. Unlocking the nodes on the starting planets as I heard that is also a great thing to work thru and has some rewards there too.

With any weapons you level, always check the wiki before you trash them as they might be used to make another weapon.

Extractors are helpful to have deployed. However, make sure you don't lose (it loses health) or you will have to craft it again.

Keep an eye on slots (weapons and frames). Discard the ones you don't like after hitting level 30 with it as they will take a slot and it's no point to save everything (unless you have enough slots to store).

Some weapons act as a requisite ingredient for crafting another weapon. So store those unless you want to craft them again.

Some frames require another frame's parts. Like Chroma, for example, needs Volt Neuroptics + Ember Neuroptics + Frost Chassis + Saryn Systems. So if you ever get duplicate blueprints, don't sell for credits. Just keep everything in your inventory.

Last, the weapons/frames you craft have 30 capacity. You will need Orokin Reactors and Catalysts to increase the capacity to 60. Very very useful but don't install those on every item as you might not use it after a while or find something better. They are quite rare to come by.

Adding a polarity will "reset" the item to unranked. You will need to level up back to 30 every time you install a polarity using Forma.

Mod position works in a way you arrange them. To get specific elements (example, viral + lightning, corrosive + cold) you need to put them in the proper order. Also, always have a stance/aura mod to it's max as they increase your capacity.

Toxin + Shock = Corrosive, and is effective against most armour
Toxin + Fire = Gas, and is effective for bypassing shields (on status proc, otherwise use just Toxin)
Toxin + Ice = Viral, and is effective against health
Shock + Fire = Radiation, and is effective against robotics, health, and some armour
Shock + Ice = Magnetic, and is effective against shields
Fire + Ice = Blast, and is effective for knocking

While fighting at a high level, consider modding based on the faction.

Grineer - Corrosive and using primarily Puncture based weapons
Corpus - Magnetic, Gas, Radiation, and/or Toxin, and using primarily Impact or high-status Slash based weapons
Infested - Fire, Gas or Viral, and using primarily Slash based weapons

There is so much to learn. The game is massive. Very Happy

Oh man I love this game. Just finished the quest "The second dream" after ~80 hours of playtime, and my head very nearly exploded. That's why you read everywhere not to spoil it, holy hell. Quite the time invest to get the story started, but man this pulled me into the universe.

I now have 2 nicely potatoed, forma'd weapons to blast through everything (Kohm, which is a insane rapid-fire shotgun and Atomos, which is a secondary flame-thrower pistol whos flame connects to other enemies and wipes whole platoons), but still couldn't commit to a frame to put my one frame-60-upgrade thingy in. Really love my Rhino, but maybe I'll wait till I have a Prime frame... only one part missing of my primed valkyre.

@Xenthalon - Both Kohm and Atomos are fantastic weapons. Although for perfect Atomos you might need few Forma but otherwise great. Would also recommend Ignis and later Ignis Wraith (at MR9).

I mostly play Octavia and as a long time player of her, you learn to just make a song that makes it easy to hit all your buffs which means you will lower the volume sliders for each instrument all the way down to not annoy any teammate that has not yet found the Ally Mandachord volume slider in the audio options.

The Mandachord is a fun gimmick but eventually even you will get tired of hearing the same 20 seconds of a song over and over again especially in long missions.

Started it off 3 weeks ago and after ~200+ hours in, I gotta say this game is everything I wanted in an online shooter. Very Happy There is simply nothing close to this game. So well crafted and the game mechanics are perfectly adjusted to work without dropping any $$$ or having an F2P game feel. Sure there are some minor bugs but even with that the game simply works amazingly well. No issues like other online games. Doesn't lack content. Even if the tiles are repeated, I don't feel bored. It's just blast to play.

Every frame so far I've played are a lot of fun and unique. Some of them even have crazy ideas to make your builds. The weapon collection is outstanding and there is one for everyone. Every day I try a new weapon or two and end up having fun than the previous weapon. From Amprex to Zarr, each of them is fun to play and mess around. As someone who never plays melee much, this game has changed it. Some of the melee weapons are great and I can't wait to craft more.

The lore is great. The main story quests are done well. The new ones set a bar high from previous. The Second Dream, The War Within, The Sacrifice are some of my favourite quests. The side quests that reward frames are done well too. The Harrow quest with a little of the dark-scary bit was done well. So much potential if they ever want to make more scary type quests in the future.

Have almost completed every location and I can't wait for Fortuna update. Amazing game. Well deserved praise for once.

Can't decide which to make main. Laughing

Trinity Prime - great support frame. EV build is also fun.
Octavia - jack of all trades. Absurd power and makes everything easy.
Volt - the Flash. Got the speed and damage.
Mirage Prime - makes every weapon great. Wipes everything.
Excalibur Umbra - the boss.
Rhino - another boss. The stomp never gets old.

Vauban - good crowd control. Was quite fun to level him up.
Banshee Prime - decent but very squishy.
Zephyr - kind of weak frame but very very useful in PoE.
Oberon - okay support but prefer Trinity.

Nyx Prime - the most boring frame I've used so far. Got nothing to do with those poor abilities.

Currently working on Valkyr. Seems good for melee users. Smile

The forma thing kind of takes time (24-hour to make and one at a time sucks) and with so many lovely frames am not even sure which to improve and which not to focus much. Embarassed

I can only agree with IamAWESOME, started playing this 3 weeks ago as well, ~130 hours of playtime already, and if anything, I had even more fun yesterday than a week ago. The game just seems to grow and grow on you, still haven't finished the story missions, but the second dream already blew my mind.

Just got my first prime warframe, Valkyr, currently in the process of leveling her up, and Rhino Prime is currently building.

Was pretty lucky with a event a couple of days ago and made a cool 200 plat from mod sales on warframe.market, and since I already signed up during the beta I had 150 plat sitting in my account already. So I can afford to trade for some helpful mods or prime parts if I don't feel like grinding Cool

I even play a round or two BEFORE work, can't remember when I was last hooked on a game like that.

Trying to get Saryn soon. Cool

Honestly, it is 50-50 at this point with melee 3.0 coming anytime soon. Maiming Strike is currently sitting at 160-170p (I sold mine at 250p before acolytes were up). The price is surely about to go up in coming weeks but it can also plummet to discard value if they nerf/adjust the mod when melee 3.0 is out.

Argon Scope is safe to keep. I'd sell it when you really need some plats.

warframe.market has statistics for each and everything for last 90 days. You can always check the median price.

I should have picked a couple of both mods when they were around 100-120. All went up by 50p already. Crying or Very sad
