Not sure which thread to post this in, but I'll do it here. I got permission from a Capcom rep to post impressions of a review build of the game. The game supports framerates above 60fps (the framerate lock options are 30, 60, and "no limit"). Unlike most MT Framework games, the game can go beyond 120fps, though you'll need a very beefy PC if you want to get close to 100 with settings around max.
If people want me to test specific things, let me know. Note that I haven't played any Monster Hunter game before, so I'm new to everything. I can confirm there are very cute kitties in the game, but I suspect that's the case with the console versions too.

Wonder if the fog effects and such rely on very high depth bias or how it's technically called, that tends to kill the crap out of performance such as Elex going from 128 to 256 and 512 and performance goes way down.
EDIT: Heh seems the fur effect hasn't changed much since the days of Lost Planet 1 either.

well tbh it's just one user from resetera named fluffyquack. Who is to say thatit is not an issue with his setup?
Need to wait and see. Mostly nvidia or amd do some driver optimazations that can boost the performance somewhat.

Not entirely sure about this one, it doesn't look like that on the ps4 pro, maybe some glitch?.. Bit early to tell, but hopefully it'll run well, most capcom ports do..

Japanese devs get away with murder. They BLOW at programming games. It's like they still haven't got over the age of just programming games for a single fixed hardware platform. Hi guys. it's 2018.

it looks good from normal perspectives, usually a bit further away.
can look like that occasionally but it's not noticeable most of the time in gameplay.
looks pretty decent here:
but yeah, it could be better with those terrible looking angles.
Another thing I don't get is how everything looks so damn washed out.
On PS4 with HDR this game is a joke. What HDR? What is this shit?! where is the contrast, dammit?!
That said, i had never played a monster hunter game before and wasn't sure if I'd even like it at all. In the end I played this game for over 300 hours on PS4.
really loved it.
It has some annoyances but when it's good, it's soo good.
I played the entire game with a friend so your mileage may vary.

Guys on game spot played it:
Pc specs: i7 7700k 1070 32gb ram
Game runs on :
1080p high with volumetric off, AA on FXAA
Fps were between 70-90 (unlocked without vsynch or limiter)
Game on low settings 1080p(everything off):
140 fps in town
Ps4 pro controller seems to work.

But it's JAP game... it will start of with 1 hour of cutscenes and 4 hours of tutorials before you start the game.

Few details on performance:
https://www.pcgamer.com/monster-hunter-world-pc-system-requirements/
And this info combined with some other news article that said that volumetric fog n shit was killing performance makes me think i'll be pulling around 80fps with my two rigs. Game seems to need a strong CPU though.

Seems like if you have an SSD in your PS4 you can drop loading times to 1/3rd of what they were on the HDD. From 60+ seconds to 20-. But I'm surprised they shipped the game with 1 minute loading screens

MT Framework always had excellent core scaling, i.e. look at RE5 using 4 cores in an era where games struggled to use more than 2 and people suggested one should invest in a fast dual core instead. http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Resident-Evil-5-Spiel-29903/Tests/Umbrella-in-Africa-690488/
Quote: | As its name indicates the MT Framework Engine scaling very good with multi-core processors: A C2Q Q6600 (4x 2,4 GHz) is 41 percent faster than C2D E6600 (2x 2.4 GHz), while the C2D E8400 is regardless of its 2x 3.0 GHz and 6Mibyte L2 cache only as fast as the Q6600. In contrast to many other engines Capcom's development does benefit when running on four instead of three cores - depending on the frequency the framerate is increased by about 13 percent. The MT Framework also likes more L2 cache - the C2Q Q9650 (12 MiByte) beats the C2E QX6850 (8 MiByte) which is running at the same frequency by about 9 percent. |
