Also on sale on Steam. Kinda tempted, as it is now just about at the price that I'd consider fair for the game.

yeah i bought it 50% off on cdkeys a few days ago, i try to never pay full price for anything Wink

The game does look better, i immediately noticed the much better scale of things. Animations looks a lot nicer and more fluid too.. can't say too much about gameplay yet really.

There seem to be much more direction at the start. Base building looks fine. Procedural generation is still shit. £20 seems to be an ok amount to pay for it.

gonna be interesting to see the events and the weekly updates.

Having fun with it again, but the core gameplay is of course quite the same as before, just feels overall better.

Is it a regular update or a separate DLC to download?
I re-downloaded the game yesterday evening but hadn't had the time to check yet if it's already included.

Did any of you guys succeeded in recovering your old base yet ?

It seems old bases are GONE!
But it seems you can re-spawn them with these (rare) base building pod on some planets.

Started a new game, after the 5-10 minutes of "loading shaders" I spawned on a radiated planet, 3 minutes later I was dead from radiation.

The beginning is quite brutal on many planets, i actually just restarted it 2 times until i had a planet that i felt was fair enough. But even so i felt quite stressed to learn about the new things while dying.

It's a really strange design choice because it will put new players off something immensely, and since it's a very "chill" game overall it also gives of the wrong impression. Sorry Sean and team no idea what you were thinking with that. The beginning is more stressful than before, but not more fun.

The Loading Shaders thing is just the first time you play the game, it creates a huge folder with files...

Anyways, other than the quite awful beginning, it's better overall.

So I had the same experience as Sin317. Death by heat for me. Uninstalled. So glad isodemos exist. Even at half price this seems to be a complete waste of money.

On the other hand, when you instead pay for games you usually put in more effort than perhaps ~5 minutes. Wink

They seem serious about continuing to work on it at least hehe, an experimental build has been up for a while (use 3xperimenta to opt in in Steam)

Im having a lot of fun with this with my friends.
The start is a PIA. But its really only about 45 minutes until you get to a point of base building and surviving pretty easily. It IS a dumb design decision though. If nothing else, they should start you off in a little shack of a shelter or something.

Im looking forward to the freighter fleets and such.

... That looks like a Fallout 4 mod. And just like Fallout, that doesn't look very convincing. I always found Fallout 4's build mode to lack a set that really lets you make a solid looking base and it's the same I see on these screenshots. As if it was built using nails and a hammer.

Yea the game is... better than it was at launch.

I like the fact that the resource gathering is 'seemingly' more complex (ie. you get primary and secondary resources) etc.

If you start on survival, you still have the initial planet challenge which I find just ridiculous... You start on an semi-extreme planet always (either hot, cold, toxic or radiating) By maxing your atmospheric shield you survive always ~2 minutes 30 seconds.
In this time you MUST find sodium to charge your shields. (or maybe you have a cave next to you - can hide there always)

Anyway, once you get to the ship etc. it becomes easier as you can easily charge your env. protection inside the ship. Charging lifesupport can also be challenging - depending on the planet.
I started on frost planet and each iron node has dioxite or something as secondary mineral -> dioxite can be used to recharge life support -> I'm literally never out of life support.

I have not yet figured out how to store large amounts of materials... the inventory space is extremely limited, and once you start exploring you get a lot of rare single piece items which fill up your inventory fast (I haven't found any way to build containers yet, I've unlocked the base already and researched most of the early blueprints.)

Yeah, I had to restart 4 or 5 times as well
Especially as I had a bug to repair the scanner. The icon of the subsystem you're supposed to click on, always moved away from the cursor when I came too close Laughing
Took me a little while before I figured out it was a bug and not a feature Very Happy

Game plays and looks a lot better than at launch, but it remains to be seen how long I'll play it.
