Sadly we don't get the Lotus back, she leaves with a cliffhanger at the end.
Also, the cutscenes seem less awesome these days. I remember being glued to the screen during the Second Dream and the War Within. Now, not so much.
It's more like a regular "get the parts for the new frame" type quest rather than the cutscene-heavy quests. There are a few neat moments, but nothing "holy shit" worthy.
At least Umbra is kinda neat, even though it's just an Excal Prime reskin. Wish we could remove the scarf somehow tho.
I think their way of delivering expositions is kind of shit. Can't really care about anything if the plot or story or characters or lore aren't narrated to the player at a consistent pace and interval. There are only tidbits here and there in the form of the codex entries and rare dialogues between each major quests, which in itself usually only comes once a year. I can't even remember all these esoteric terms they use in the lore, not to mention all the characters.
To me, this is Souls style of telling lore but worst, because unlike Souls which uses various ways of delivering exposition (items, environmental, dialogues, cutscenes, etc.), and all of these can be access in the first playthrough, Warfarm just does it as obtuse as possible, to the point where dialogues sound very unnatural to me. Every time I listen to them or read them, I feel like I need to check the wiki to remind myself of the terms. Doesn't help that it's so long between each of these quests.
Ultimately, I think my real issue with trying to get into the lore is that they don't deliver them right at the beginning of the game, they only started these quests a few years after I started playing. Since I don't go back doing most of the old content again, I think I missed or just don't remember a lot of the lore they tried to tell long ago and still relying on the players knowing them for the latest narratives. Ie. I remember the name "Hunhow", but I have no fucking clue what he actually is, I know it had something to do with Stalker, but that's about it. Same with "Dax" or "Natah" or "Margulis", etc.
I don't even know WTF Tenno is vs. what a Warframe is, or Operators. That's 3 terms for what appears to be 2 separate but integral entities. Then you try to explain the origin of any of those, and I find it hard to paint the whole picture in my head.
Then come this quest, yet another new character. Everyone in the game seems to know who he is, so they all speak naturally and don't dump expositions in the dialogue. I mean its good that they don't do that, otherwise its bad writing, but there seriously need to be some tooltip or something to remind or explain who or what everything is.
Haven't played it for a long time. Downloading again to play all these new quests. How about gameplay? Is it still grind fest? I gave it up just because getting prime parts was getting tiresome.
have never played it before, but this seems like one of those diamond-in-a-rough deals which has turned out pretty shiny after 5(?) years of ongoing development, amirite?
is this worth getting into with a couple of friends? (mostly interested in the coop aspect)
Just make sure you guys like the core gameplay. Because you'll be doing it a lot if you don't want to pay. Thankfully, the core gameplay is fucking awesome.
Speaking of going completely F2P, don't spend the starter platinum until you ABSOLUTELY have to. By that I mostly mean warframe/weapon slots.
What is the appeal of this, Warframe? Deep/Rich Lore/Backstories? Interactive Play with fellow mens + Robust Netcode? Crafting? Makes things like Destiny look like Poo on a stick?

It is considered the fairest monetization system in the industry. You only pay for cosmetics and shortcuts. I keep hearing that people only pay because they want to, not because they have to. As a player who spent around £100-150 on the game, I can totally agree. I NEVER felt pressured into paying, but the game was so enjoyable that I wanted to. Of that money, I spent maybe 10-15% on shortcuts, the majority went into cosmetics. You also get discounts on plat as a daily login reward, which come in 25-50-75% versions. I only ever bought plat with at least 50% off.
Kickass gameplay and power-fantasy. Other games try to limit you in all kinds of ways. No don't go there, no don't be too powerful, etc. Warframe set's you loose as the ultimate killing machine in its universe. Speaking of which...
Unique world and art style. This is very much a love it or hate it thing. Some people are fascinated by the weird looking stuff on display, others are actively repulsed by it. I love it.
All weapons and other equipment are unique and hand crafted. You won't find any "Generic Sword of Destruction +1" in here. They feel different, they have different quirks, etc.
Making your arsenal unique comes with mods. Some are pretty bland, like extra damage, faster fire rate, faster reload, bigger magazine, etc (some can be essential for viable builds, but they are still undeniably bland). But others stand out more. One can split your bullet, so you have a chance to deal double damage. Others make your bullets go through enemies and damage others behind them too, or will slowly auto-reload your weapon while it's holstered, so it's ready to go whenever your main gun runs out.
It runs great. I have supersampling enabled to 21:9 1440p and with everything absolutely maxed out (except motion blur, duh), I can easily squeeze a healthy 150-200 FPS on a stock 1070.
Pretty great story missions with nice cutscenes. Most "quests" are pretty meh with very little story, but the main story content (Second Dream, The War Within, and most recently The Sacrifice) are pretty amazing. Hell, some of the lesser quests can be good too even if they don't have epic cinematics (Chains of Harrow, Sands of Inaros or Octavia's Anthem for example).
i dont understand how destiny 2 even got any praise, every reviewer should have compared the two and utterly destroy that piece of overpriced shit turd.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
I wonder why Warframe is such a unique entity in games, and after 5 years, no one has managed to emulate their model successfully, hell I haven't seen any that even tried to be similar. Yet it's success should have been well known to those relevant in the industry ever since they've gone "Open Beta" on Steam. So where are the "clones"?
I understand many game devs have their own vision that they want to follow, but certain games are just begging to be like Warframe.
One that blew my mind that wasn't more like Warframe was Absolver, THAT should have been more like Warframe than what it ultimately ends up being.
Props to DE for their business model and passion for their game though, they do deserve all the success and recognition they're getting.
