Joseph Delappe's new project - developed in collaboration with Albert Elwin (coding) and James Wood (consultant), Elegy: GTA USA Gun Homicides, is a self-playing version of Grand Theft Auto V that - starting each midnight CST (Central Standard Time) - reenacts/recounts/represents the entire body count to date from January 1st 2018 in-game.
In other words, the project visualizes real life gun-related homicides in the United States of America though the filter of a video game. (As NRA fanatics love to say, "Guns don't kill people, video games do.")
Each daily update represents - in a graphic, literal way - the body count reported by a gun violence website. The next day, the program scrapes the new data and starts again, in a perverse Groundhog Day-sort of way, while "God Bless America" - both the original version by Irving Berlin (1918) as well as Kate Smith's iteration (1938) - plays in the background.
"From the mountains
To the prairies
To the oceans
White with foam
God bless America
My home sweet home"
As the camera slowly recedes - a peculiar "kill cam" - all is left on the screen is trail of blood and agonizing avatars. Launched on July 4, 2018, Delappe's intention is to run Elegy 24/7 until July 4, 2019.
if I'm reading that right every day it "reenacts" the total from the beginning of this year. As we are 180+ days in, that number is currently rising at real time * 180. Not to diminish the number, it's large.

As I understand, he just restarts the simulation every night and adds last day of real murders to it.
So in one day of simulation we see 180 days of real world murder and in next day of simulation we see 181 days of real world america ?

Only via Amazon and Ebay by now if you want the "original", only downloads out there and none of them on any platforms since Steam took GTA 1 and 2 down. The only chance to get one of them is via a gift and these are super rare.
Rockstar had them for free at their homepage for a long time, but they removed it (mostly the same reason its gone from steam). but you can get them all over the web (called rockstar classics). buying isnt possible anywhere as harry stated already
Is there an easy means to buy the old GTA games? 1-2 etc
I believe there was license issues with music but since both have been available for free, I'd just download them off Abandonware sites. The second one is not guaranteed to work anyway on modern machines.
Still no cars and other objects in reflections. This is literally the only thing that bothers me in GTA5 graphics, and none of these useless "mods" are able to fix. "GTA6"
I mean... I don't see other cars reflections in cars passing by on the street. But in Poland everyone drives 15yo volksvagen passat
