This playthrough shows more locations/rooms than any other, I believe:
I still don't like it. The SSAO and floor reflections look terrible, blood doesn't stick to walls, the heavy color filter and turned off lights ruin the original visuals, and the way player progression goes, feels more linear, even if that might not be true, actually, it just feels like that with all those cramped hallways. Where is the iconic RPD music - or something equally as good at least?
Framerate is bad, but there's time to work on this.
Dunno, I was ecstatic when RE7 was first previewed, and I wasn't disappointed by the end product, but this.. it feels disappointing so far.

let's be real a static camera with tank controls would not sell very well on current gen. I'd love a remake like RE0 & RE1 but clearly they went a different direction with this one which doesn't mean it's gonna be bad, just different.
If you are referring to my post, I didn't say anything about camera or controls.
If you are not, well, ok.

You are right. REmake is what it is and it's amazing but over the shoulder game in new engine will sell much better.
I think it looks great but:
The matilda sounds terrible
The corridors are very tight and the fov is not doing any favors to the presentation

I'm expecting some streamlining here and there, but as long as the formula and core of the game remain intact and the derp factor is always under control (very important ), I'm not bothered by hypothetical minor changes.
About the camera, after recently replaying the REmakestered it felt evident that the good ol' fixed perspective and 1:1 gameplay (sadly!) would not be suitable for the current triple-A audience, compromises have to be made to satisfy corporates' insane sales targets. RE7 hit the sweet spot for me when it comes to merging modern and old school, if this RE2boomake will do the same I'll be a happy panda.

What is there to streamline though?
The game had few actual puzzles beyond item combinations and most were very simple, first runthrough would be a bit of a challenge but either scenario provides plenty of ammo for almost all guns.
Interviews and other information provided so far does make it clear that the ink ribbons are similar to the tapes though and for the higher difficulty levels but they're also expanding the game a bit more adding extra notes and probably a few additional areas now that storage space and current hardware makes this more viable.
Combat also so far at least looks like it's going to be tougher with enemies being overall more resilient and even a headshot isn't guaranteed to to kill since you need to take out the entire head for the zombie to stay down.
Course there's probably going to be "green herbs" just about everywhere (Evidence locker in particular in the police station.) and maybe you can find the same amount of magnum bullets too. (About 89 or so in total.)
Leon has been shown to move and shoot at the same time though and he's probably more mobile overall though I assume enemies like Mister X and the hunters, dogs and lickers are probably also a bit less "box" like in their movement or tank like perhaps?
Or it'll be like Vendetta where Wesker wasn't really all that compared to what Chris and Leon can actually do when they feel like it.
EDIT: Ah right compulsive hoarding behavior, no-one would ever figure out that you can leave one item behind in the armory for the other player scenario if they kept that mechanic in at all.
They can streamline the progression. I got that impression from the videos, but it's tough to say.

I am starting to get annoyed how dark this game is. It will suck on nonoled displays

I'm annoyed because the darkness destroys the original art direction, and honestly looks boring. I hope it's just the RPD that is that dark (although I doubt it).
At least the preorder includes the option to play with the original OST, so that's something, because so far from what I've heard in the videos the new take on the OST is entirely unmemorable.

Rely On Horror: Are there any members of the development team that actually worked on the original Resident Evil 2? If so, do they offer any special input on the remake since they were there for the original game’s development?
Yoshiaki Hirabayashi: Yes we have two artists on the team that worked on the original game, and in fact one of them even worked on the very first Resident Evil and has worked on multiple titles in the series. So they’re quite specialized and experienced, and they’ve been very valuable team members. Also, from a top down direction, our boss Jun Takeuchi is an old school Resident Evil 2 project manager. So we get a lot of advice/instruction from him.
Tsuyoshi Kanda: Also on the sound team, Shusaku Uchiyama is working on the new title and he was there for the original game as well.
Quote:
Rely On Horror: Resident Evil 2 has a lot of iconic enemies like Mr. X, William Birkin, and the Lickers. Did you have to update enemy mechanics to suit the OTS playstyle and combat?
Tsuyoshi Kanda: Yes, we had to reconsider the space that the characters are in with the new camera angles. Taking the Licker for example, you first meet it in the ‘Licker corridor’ and while the CG movie plays it’s on the ceiling, then when it goes back to gameplay the Licker immediately drops down to the floor so you can aim down and shoot it. With that sort of camera the Licker can’t really jump around from different angles, but with the new over the shoulder perspective the Licker can move around a 3D environment and introduce 360 degree action. So the Licker will be much more able to utilize the entire space around you because you can see the entire corridor from any angle. It allows for much more elaborate and interesting enemy AI and behavior.
Is this a lot of the same team that worked on “Resident Evil 7?”
YH: The team is really mixed in terms of their experience with previous games in the series. We do have some “Resident Evil 7” veterans, including Kanda, who was producer on the title, and myself, I’ve been working on the series since the Gamecube remaster. The directors, one of them was a “Resident Evil 2” staffer, one of them has been on the series since the original “Resident Evil,” a lot of members have been involved in various “Resident Evils.”
Sounds like there are 2 directors.
And the Japanese title this time is "BIOHAZARD RE:2", where RE:2 can mean "repeat of 2" or "2 remade", or something like that in Japanese. (Aside of the obvious "Resident Evil 2" reference.) So a bit like they played with RE7: Biohazard and BH7: Resident Evil in the title of the latest game.

These new faces are ridiculous. Everyone looks unrecognisable now. Even if it is new tech, atleast Capcom should have made an effort to not make it look like everyone has gotten a plastic surgery.

I guess you haven't seen Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 7.

I have as that and the new Leon,Claire models are what I referred to with the new tech.
RE2 has some pretty iconic music, but the series has used music in different ways in recent years, especially in RE7 and in the more action-focused entries. How are you handling it here in the remake?
Tsuyoshi Kanda: In terms of how we approached the audio and music this time around, I think a very important element in a franchise like this is making sure that players feel as much immersion as possible. With Resident Evil 7, trying to build as much immersion and tension as possible what we’d do was… well, because RE7 was a first person perspective, we’d pay more attention to the type of sounds that you’d hear around you. Audio that you’d actually hear in the world, in the surrounding environment. Sometimes there’d be music too. In order to build tension though, if there was a moment where we didn’t want players to know what was ahead of them we’d mute the audio cues to really ramp up the tension.
Because RE2 has a different camera angle we’re not incorporating the exact same techniques, but what we’re doing this time around is we’re trying to focus a lot on combat with zombies. Around that, we’re doing whatever we can to make sure the audio elements really enhance that tension and immersion with those elements that we’re trying to stress in RE2.
One thing I want to stress is that the composer working on this title is the original composer [Shusaku] Uchiyama-san. So even if it’s 20 years later, this is very much his vision of what the audio should be for RE2.
Meh... I don't want the music to become prominent only where there's action... That's just not RE2.
