Reverted back to iPhone after a few months. Every time I make the switch back and use iOS again i'm always shocked as to how much more responsive iOS feels doing normal things compared to Android. As good as the S7 was for me there is just something that I prefer about iOS.

That's pretty much it. I hate Apple and everything they make, but the responsiveness of the iOS has yet to be unmatched. I dunno if it's cause every phone maker uses different hardware so handles the OS different but I'd love to have that kinda performance.

You mostly need to root, rom and OC your phone to get that level. Even with a quad core cpu in Androids they still can't do it.

Wot? My wife has a Galaxy S6 and it's extremely fast. How fast does a mobile phone need to be?

if you can't setup your windows it's also slow after some time.
deactivate bloatware (possible without root) and install another launcher like nova launcher (also possible without root) and there should be no lags or whatever.

but sure it's the phones fault. Laughing

Has nothing to do with the hardware being fast or not. My iPhone 6 hardware spec wise is slower then my S7.

It doesn't change the fact that iOS feels smoother, and generally gives the outward appearance of running better.

I don't care how fast my phone is. (Generally, it needs to run the latest games trouble free at least) I care that it runs apps good and the OS feels good. Not only does iOS feel better on my iphones compared to my M8/m9, S5/S7, Xperia Z3/Z4, etc.. But apps run better on my iOS devices as well. Be it star wars uprising, punch quest, micro machines, hearthstone, etc.. Again, while my S7 hardware wise *should* be faster then my iPhone 6... All those games I mentioned run worse on it.

I don't care if it's the phones fault or not. That's completely irrelevant. I did strip down my S7 to be bloat free and there was absolutely no impact to the performance of the phone. It's already fast. Getting rid of the minimal bloat present on the latest Samsung phones won't change the fact that vast swaths of apps out there on Android are poorly optimized.

Even removing optimization the Android apps by and large generally have more bugs (Somehow) compared to their iOS equivalents. For instance the Steam app on Android is a pile of shit. When someone messages you and you click the message the chat panel tends not to update for some reason. This forces you to back out of the app and re-enter. On iOS you click the notification and it works every time no problem. Another is the USAA (my bank) app. Or stocktwits, or even the fucking gmail app. All of my key apps I use on a day to day basis have very slight issues on Android that make them worse to use compared to their iOS equivalents. I don't really care why, because at the end of the day there is nothing I can do to fix it besides sticking with an iPhone as my primary device.

I don't recognize any of the problems you mention, but my wife probably uses different apps than you. All I can compare it to is my G3 and iPhone 6(S) my friends have. The S6 is considerably more responsive than my G3 and it's on par with iPhone 6. I didn't see any hang-ups etc.
We both don't use custom ROMs btw, just the standard LG and Samsung skins with some tweaks. I had more problems with custom ROMs than with original skins. The last Samsung I owned was the S3, but Samsung came a long way with the SW from that clusterfuck.

How is 450 euros for a used S7 Edge? I'll be buying it from my uncle, who didn't like Android and bought an iPhone. The phone is basically new. I was looking at a new One Plus 3, but I'd have to wait two months for it to arrive, which is crazy. I assume the jump from G3 to S7 will be huge? I don't really need a new phone since my G3 is fast enough for me, but my father needs a new phone.

For reference, a new One Plus 3 costs 400 euros.

For 450€ and almost brand new? I would definitely buy it, especially if you can get the papers for it in case it breaks or something. ^_^

Is there any chance of a new tide of releases before the end of this year? Galaxy S8 for example?

That's the note 7 though, he's going to buy the S7 edge which doesn't have little nukes built into it.

Is there anything major Samsung (or any other manufacturer) is trying to do compared to the S7 Edge? With the current cashback from Samsung, the phone can be had for 250 euros brand new (the Oneplus 3T goes for 439 euros for example). I assume the new gen of phones will add some gimmicks/features here and there, but will things like screen/camera/battery be a huge leap from the S7 Edge?

would you mind linking to the cashback? I'm about to pull the trigger on an S7 edge, but wasn't able to find anything below amazon price (~550€) yet, which is still a bit steep.

i did my homework on it over the weekend, what won me over was the combination of dat screen, camera, IP68 and sd card slot. the oneplus 3t, flat s7 and HTC10 (amongst others) are all fine contenders, but at this point it's basically a coin toss, so might as well take the sexy package.

the S8 (which apparently will have the edge screen as standard) will ofc be a straight upgrade with some fancy stuff like retina scanner, better hardware and more screen real estate - but in terms of camera and battery, you can only pack in so much with limited space and i'd rather pay 550 now for the s7 than 800 for the s8 in 2 months. if you hate bezels, there's also the xiaomi mi mix or the elephone s3 (lol), but not much else.

I can get the Phone for 325 with a one year contract from a provider. There's also a 75 euro cashback from samsung. I pay 11 euros for 1GB data (no contract though), with the contract I'll be paying 17 euros for 5GB. Very tempting and I think I'll just go for it.

According to rumors the S8 will be 100 euros more expensive than the S7 was, as if the S7 wasn't exoensive enough. Crazy fuckers. I'll just buy the S7 Edge for 250 buks.

I have a tiny issue with my phone. It's nothing phone-breaking but tiny yes with one of the functions..

Notification Badge

On my S7 it was great having that orange circle next to the icons as a notification for them.

Now since today, a new S7 update came, the Oreo 8.0 one. Once installed Play Store had for a moment the icon, and so Samsung Pay, but whenever it comes to other apps like FB, Whatsapp, Gmail etc etc, they don't appear..HOWEVER, if you go into the app, you can see the app's notifications just sitting there..

What is the cause to this?..Is there any fix?. I've already reached out Google telling me to go to Notifications and enable them, but they were already enabled and all, with the icon bubble , and so is in the settings!..
