You do realise its playable right now?

The quality of the current state of the game is not really relevant to the legality of it.

I am very sure the game will release by 2020-2021.

Whether it will have MMO universe that actually works in a way that allows regular players to enjoy it... who knows.

So will Chris Roberts. The difference is, he'll be able to use all of that non-existent ship money to attach his Mars Attacks jarred head to a cyborg body. Oh, how I wish I had Photoshop skills right now! Very Happy

Not yet afaik.

There is absolutely no way, on this or the next world, that VR will EVER work in such a way as to be playable. It can't maintain 30fps on a single low res screen, let alone 2x 1080 screens.

(Drone shit doesn''t count, as it is not a full game so don't even go there...)

Thanks mate!. That's good to hear, I think it'll be great in vr, if all parts are (ie: the first person parts and the ship combat of course)

Well it's not optimized in the slightest yet Kaltern.. have yet to see any optmization at all in the game so far. Will be interesting to see just how good the game can be run when it's (if ever...) implemented.

edit: cool, nice one mtj, i'll try research how to get vr running in game as it is Smile

In single player and offline its easy to get enough FPS for VR.

All they need is 45fps for the MMO if they cheat and do frame interpolation. (like psvr)

The MMO isn't that suitable for VR unless they do full VR support for player movement/shooting etc, which is doubtful.

You know i keep hearing this is playable, released, bla bla, but i never EVER see a gameplay video anywhere. Like someone genuinely playing, instead of promotional clippings worth of 30-40s of cuts into a 10 minute video

I did actually watch a stream for an hour or so recently, out of curiosity. It was a bugfest clusterfuck, the streamer himself was laughing his ass off all the time. I think one of his little vehicle ended up being bugged in his bigger ship, so he had to self-destruct it to get going Very Happy

Here's an example of a "big" skirmish. Don't ask me about the FOV/camera angle, I have no idea either Laughing

I didn't even bother watching the video as it seems like a waste of time.

I can tell you right now that there is no way this game would have ended up better without crowd funding.

Having investors doesn't mean Chris Roberts all of a sudden releases a game with a smaller scope much sooner.

The video is, by the way, critical, but not unreasonably so.

I guarantee you that this game won't actually be fun to play even if they manage to "finish" it. Whatever ships will be a pale shadow of what people are expecting. It's a scam.

It will never be released in any meaningful manner, it'll be pretty much what it is now, and the 'game' will dissolve into nothingness. CIG will fold, all company assets will be sold off and Roberts etc will be very rich - even after all the lawsuits and refund requests, because of the way they've resold studios and liquidated other assets in such a way as to be seperate from the main companies they set up.

They've been getting a lot of advice from those who know how to hide and reclaim funds 'legally'. I can tell you this tho - he will never be allowed near another crowdfunded project, nor any development/publishing company ever again. At least none that care about their reputation of course.

I don't understand why people would spend so much money on something that might be released and might be good when released. Has anyone here spent 1000+ on this? I'm not judging, you can spend your money how you want, I just want to ask why.

I think it taps into gambling mentality, these people are fantasizing about this amazing game one day they are going to play based on promises .jpg alone.. no different from spending 1k-27k on lotto tickets, I'm both sorry and Laughing at anyone that's spent +$30 on this thing.

I would suggest anyone who bought into it at the very beginning can be forgiven, as noone really knew it was going to be such a colossal scam - I don't think Roberts et al even knew, until they realised people were literally throwing money at nothing but promises... and they turned it into a business model.

I'm just astounded that they can continue to 'trade' given they've provided nothing but empty promises, and people are still convinced it's just going to take a bit more time.

I've been 'scammed' with several kickstarters. Still waiting on my digital watch and portable printer from 3+ years ago Laughing

At least The Universim and Sunless Skies are doing ok Smile

But all in all, I'm still in the positive when it comes to success/failure ratio. So it's not as if crowdfunding is a big failure. But ironically (or not), almost all of the more expensive Kickstarters failed. I guess the lesson is: don't go balls deep with these things unless you're really convinced you will get something in return.

I saw the drama on Twitter, and while I indeed condemn the retards taking it that far... I thought that Sid fella was after some drama from the get go.
Couldn't keep it in his pants... since the moment one twat showed up he was crying on the twitters even though nearly every comment at that time was agreeing with him. Scratch Head

I just chucked him together with all the other drama queens on twitter after that.
