I wouldn't have any issue with the Pirate Women, Brits with Katanas, possibly Hitler's Negro Stormtroopers and whatever other ridiculous shit they conjured up, if this wasn't advertised as a WW2 game.
If you don't want to be authentic, call it as it is. A very fictional take on WW2 with boatloads of creative liberties. But I guess that doesn't sound as cool and isn't very marketable.
The worst part is that everyone who dares to criticize this, will be called something along the lines of misogynistic white cis male and silenced.
I will survive but it's just sad to me that this is the return to their legacy... which was WW2...
Nah, sorry, I think I'm done with Battlefield. I could already feel it with BF1.
Luckily there is Post Scriptum, whom's gameplay suits me alot more nowadays.
It's still sad though.
But, there is some positives. Like them getting rid of all the crap that always did split the playerbase.
Then again... this kinda smells fishy. I have a hard time to trust it. It at least feels like a 1-time thing... damage control.
They could do the sensible thing and feature the eastern front, that had more women fighting (for the reds) than any other area in WW2 but it's probably a combination of "russia? But muh elections" and that the game wouldn't sell much without murica/uk...
Imagine that, having a game where you played as a young ruskie chick, asome ruskie prisioner dude forced to fight and, say, a ww1 gramps that decided to enlist again.
But no... that would involve, you know, ACTUAL diversity

Well Dice did say they're always going for fun over authentic.
(Also fun allows for thousands of micro-transaction cosmetic opportunities but no-one really thought of that idea or anything.)
And what is this "fun?" Is it tangible? Quantifiable? It's the same for all the players? That's quite a nonsensical thing to say as a developer.
What he actually means with that tweet, is that they are putting the possibility of a wider audience over their already established audience (because the latter will buy the game anyway). Preehuurrrdurr nauh!
cant wait to see the reveal for the battlefield Vagina 100 eur deluxe edition filled with 100 euro of free ten hats for my vagina skins. Cause face it, they want to milk at least 200 euros out of each person buying this game, how else they gonna get it
also its all cool to record a v1 rocket engine, but all war survivers said the most scary part of v1s where the moment the engine stopped, as that was the moment they would drop out of the sky and since uc uldnt hear them anymore, u had no idea where it was gonna hit, the terror of silence
If that's the way we're judging it, many Battlefield games were further away from reality than this concept art for CoD. Battlefield Heroes is the most obvious choice, but then there's Battlefield 2142, there's BF4 (the DLC for Final Stand in particular), there's also the comedy-oriented Bad Company. But if people enjoy CoD more than BF, that's cool, no real need to explain why by discussing realism.
Battlefield 2142 he says ... , cause battlefield 2142 was not realistic cause it was set in the future ... *facepalm* it tried to be , and it was pretty good at that actually
Or is just a satirical tweet about the current situation.
I answered the satirical post with a post satirizing the people defending the game.
That's a lie, this post is satire, the other one isn't.

Don't conflate maturity and realism as being the same.
Battlefield 2142 was mature, most likely far more mature than BF5 (based on what we know). Still, there's a difference between a game being mature and a game being realistic. That's the discussion.
@Nodrim Great, comparing a BF engine shot vs. a COD promo material photo manipulation
Great, not seeing that this is how both want to present their games to the public. Doesn't matter if one is art, one is in engine, one is from the deepest part of someones asshole, it's about how they want to present the game. How did the BF 1 "promo material photoshop manipulation" pictures look? That shitty "BF engine shot" doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

The BF5 reveal included quite a bit of concept art, which was presented before the gay nazis trailer:

Not interested in either. I saw that, still pretty ridiculous to start with two kinds of images, especially as COD looks nothing like that ingame.
That image is for USER customization. Don't know why it was chosen as a thumbnail.

Anyways,
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
Damn, that grass is green, and I mean.. GREEN ! Feels like you're in the jungle or nearby a volcano !
Yeah, I know it's a small detail, but I can't ignore the over-the-top greenness of this grass
This is likely to be just like BF1, I used to love the Battlefield series but it just doesn't click any more for me, and the apparent direction they're taking ain't going make me return.
According to this guy the trailer is simply shit because it doesn't represent what the actual game is like, he had a 3 hour preview behind closed doors and apparently it's a more tactical experience than any previous bf.

That appears to be the consensus, it's always hard to believe the insiders as they often have their hands more or less tied towards the developers/publishers, but the "it's more tactical, the trailer doesn't represent it whatsoever" opinion seems prevalent.
This is why I loved the first Battlefield games, let's hope we can find some of that back.
