Absolute trash and the one you referred to as it being better is infinitely a superior mod. Steve's mod opened up 1 planet gave the rebels the death star and other random imperial units, and basically gave the empire two planets. They constantly attack hoth with the death star and if you attempt to take the asteriod belt you'd need about twice as many units as you could conceivably take. Literally 4 or 5 dozen tie squads and about a dozen Star Destroyers, as well as another 1 or 2 dozen medium ships, plus a space station.

He also mods it so that you get 30,000 credits a day and other random crap. Whats the point? Endless defense battles on hoth? thats 1337 man.

The other mod at least attempts to make a playable game (though I do get some random error result in a crash now and then which I also got with Steve's mod) by giving the proper sides the proper units as well as a couple dozen planets being opened up for proper use.

Maybe take a valium and relax? Don't shoot the messengers, all they did was post a link to those mods. They didn't twist your arm, you made the choice to install them and test them. Maybe they suck, maybe they don't but at least they did something else than just complain about other peoples attempt of making it a better game.

hmm is it me or does the game really slow down when engaging combat?

So far only encoutered it with land battles... space battles run smoothly...

tried tweaking, turned everything down... everything up (which is no problem) but still the same FPS... (or slow downs) so kinda annoying if you ask me...

Anyone else having this problem? And better yet... how do you solve this?

No, but he did reply to another mod extolling the virtues of how superior it was. I'd really like to hear his explanation of why its such a superior mod.
There is NOTHING about that mod that makes it better.

Usually a box will pop up saying "ignore/cancel" or something to that effect?

No it runs just as good as it does on my gaming pc downstairs. That has 2x 7800GTX in SLi with 2 gig of and a 3ghz processor(Do alot of video editing so need asmuch power as i can buy).

Dont copie of my words please it is quite annoying and rather gay. Razz

My mate has the demo he has the same specs as me and on his PC it runs like shite. :/

Like i said it is not long out of BETA. Rolling Eyes

the vanilla demo had me worried, but with the bryant mod i was impressed with the game. this is the star wars game ive always wanted; a 3D Star Wars Rebellion set in between episodes 3 & 4.

my main concern right now is with the ground battles. while the space battles, economics, and heroes are every bit as good if not better than Rebellion (and very similiar to ORB without 3D movement), the planetside battles remind me of Force Commander...

playing with Boba Fett in his Slave 1 ruled the first time i dropped one of those sonic charges as seen in episode 3! i love that sound effect...

very nice surround audio as well.

Remember its a very vanilla demo, though honestly for like 15 minutes of playing time, they should have reduced the size, or made the demo so it took about an hour to play.

maybe 4 or 5 planets and a little basic AI.

It was mainly released it seems to give you a very basic look at ground combat and space combat. Space combat is awesome. Ground combat doesn't strike me as that awesome at this point. I'm often seeing entire groups of units disappearing for no apparent reason when fighting.

Recruitment works strangely... and it doesn't seem like the game gives you any control over placing ground structures, which leads to the ability of the attacker to develop a strategy based on your constructed buildings and the map you're playing. It will always be the same.

It does strike me like its going to be a bit of a "Tank rush" kind of game where you just build up a massive massive flleet and charge in.

i think the game will play just like Rebellion for the most part.

it will take alot of time to get the capitol ships constructed, plus there are 30 planets and who knows how many heroes each side will have in play all with special abilities.

add in random mission battles, weather on the planets, pirates....

im pretty stoked about this one

No. The x1900 still has 16pipes, but is equipped with 42 pixel shader units. There is a large difference between the two. The upgrade in pixel shader units is an almost moot upgrade though. This effectively means that the GPU can process more at once, but it still is limited to the 16 pipelines, so a small boost will be seen, but not much, definatly not enough to overthrow the 7800 series of cards. On top of that, nvidia is release their refresh version of the 7800 soon, so effectively, ATI has lost the round for this year.

As for my experiances with this demo, it runs perfectly fine with medium/high settings on my now low end system.

ok discovered some of the reason why empire at war might fux0r up on you (cause slow downs or simply crash/not start) only I do not know how to fix it.

First of all speed can be adjusted in the game option menu's so if it just runs slow (no slow downs) thats what you can do.

But some of us have had slow downs when the action gets to packed (especially with land battles)

Now besides the basic things; drivers / spy ware / defragmentation of hdd / closing background programs / etc etc...

The latest windows updates cause slow downs as well. I've tested the demo on a "clean installed" pc and it ran smooth. Also the latest updates cause the game to crash on boot. So if you are one of them ppl, you might wanna uninstall the latest few updates released these last 2 weeks and try again.

Hope it all works for everyone, because the game is simply fun Smile
