Really risky launching this on this on the XBOX. It must be a massive overhaul.

I think it will sell well. People are probably desperate for something like this.

I wouldn't say desperate, probably very curious to see the clusterfuck or if it has become better.
Then again Xbone people have been desperate to get more games... Razz

No matter how many updates or content they jam in, I doubt it will ever be good. The core is just way too simplistic/bad.

It wasn't a terrible game at launch, it was just. . .boring after awhile. A lot of this had to do with the procedural generated system, but folks knew this going in. Marketing hubub aside, the game launched as most people expected it to.

The biggest problem was that the game was trying to do too much, with too few resources to get it all right. Something like Subnautica works because it is a self-contained survival adventure with a VERY clear goal in mind.

It was a solid 7/10 game at launch, that was only marred by people getting overly salty about marketing missteps and overhyped expectations.

Sounds like it might be worth giving it another ISOride...maybe Very Happy Laughing

The first and last time that I played the game was with the original 1̶.̶0 0.1 version, the one with all the copycat barren planets, automatic flying, dick-shaped alien creatures, barebones crafting and 'intelligent' extraterrestrial beings offering the same things ad infinitum. I didn't find it terrible (at least it was relaxing, well a bit too relaxing xD), just underwhelming in every possible way also considering the ridiculous pricetag.

Four Men's Sky from the looks of things heh. Guessing this is the box art for the definitive edition then or what this upcoming re-release / big patch was called.

Couldn't care less about MP.

It's an immensely shallow game, after a while you get the feeling it's all smoke and mirrors.

It's not possible to be tricked that you are exploring a giant universe when it's basically same-same all the time.

It needs more surprise and random elements and designs (underground bases and mines, giant creepy abandoned ships to explore, more "lost civilization" themes) and more variety for quests. It needs far more races and why are all human-like races advanced? Why are there only tiny camps everywhere - no random generated cities or at least towns?

To be fair though, i did enjoy the game for 30h+ something, i play tons of games (though far less now than 10 years ago..) and many of them i give up after 1h because they offer nothing i haven't experienced 100 times before. This at least tries, it doesn't really succeed but 9/10 for effort at least? Wink Hope the new patch brings something more than MP and that it's indeed "huge".

Yup. If you are able to recognize how the worlds are procedurally populated with stuff, and it's the same on all planets you go to. Them having a different color scheme or temperature doesn't matter. It will all feel the same.

July 24th, NMS Next date , Multiplayer: can play with friends, "full" multiplayer experience on Next's release. Battlestar/Star Trek, fun/funny, emergent/intense.

Can play with a "bunch" of your friends, can come across random strangers, can pair up in teams, work together to survive. You can go & prey on other people.

Basebuilding together, complex colonies spread across multiple planets, other players can come & visit. Dogfighting, big space battles, be a pirate or wingman. You can race each other with exocraft. Lay down scenic routes.

Doesn't feel like he's really done with No Man's Sky.

Hopes to reward players' patience with good, solid content instead of talking about them.
then he guy stopped Sean from talking about other NEXT features to talk about old updatesand then ended the segment

How inspiring.

"4 devs, looking for players left playing no man's sky"

Well i guess it's nice that after that release back then of No Mans Lie, that they are still pumping out updates.

By the time i have time to play this again, it will probably be a masterpiece.

I think they'll oversell the patch again Smile

I mean, those 'notes' look very interesting...

"For example, you’ll be able to explore the universe with your friends, or bump into random travelers. You can help friends to stay alive, or prey on others to survive. Tiny shelters or complex colonies that you build as a team are shared for all players. Fight as a pirate or a wingman in epic space battles with friends and enemies. Race exocraft across weird alien terrains, creating race
tracks and trails to share online."

Sean is still beating the dead horse i see. Well the idiot should have not promised that much. It doesnt matter how much effort he puts on this, people wont be expressed no matter what. Besides i dont think the game will get "that much" fun after all the promised updates.

Better luck next time spacenigga.

As soon as they manage to make the actual exploration a rewarding experience, then they can shove MP up where the sun don't shine, and I'll buy it. But as long as the whole "procedural generation" is the same few plants/crystals/rocks/etc put on every planet with a bit of colour variation between them, then it's still meh.

In a way it's easy to understand why someone would lie and exaggerate about his "baby", not because the intent is to scam, its to be able fund the dream and to be able to continue to support it. If the intent was to scam he would have disappeared and left the baby (in the dumpster Very Happy )

Not trying to defend it, just saying i understand it.. If he has half a brain i bet he also kind of predicted the hate, but didn't care since he had tremendous faith that eventually it would deliver.

Gotta say I don't like him the least in interviews, he comes of as a total douche, still.

Or he's forced to keep working on it because of pressure from Sony, or because he wants to one day release another game, something he couldn't do if he dumped it straight away.

That's also true of course. It seems to have sold quite well (and probably wasn't super expensive since it was a small team), so Sony might be smart enough to not just dump it/them.
