The Ferraris are holding up very well so far, against all odds really, which is refreshing for the competition. Doesn't magically makes races less boring, but it's something!
Today's protagonist however was Nando (he did the fastest lap too, the absolute madman )
That was a fun race. Vettel... if only he would play it cooler/smarter.
Ferrari got Ferrari'd once again.
The team makes it hard to like them lately, with their press bans every few weeks... the blaming on Verstappen on their official twitter page. Silly really, wondering if its because they know they are losing their grip on F1. While still powerful they can't say: 'Ferrari is F1 and F1 is Ferrari' any more.

Not going to feign any interest until Max gets a better car/team.
Why even bother if the only reason is mostly the nationality someone races for.
Do I enjoy having two Belgians in F1 ( )? Sure... but that don't make F1.
Besides have a look at tricky Ricky, Red Bull is far from a bad team/car. Sadly with 'succes supporters' it's only good enough when they win.
I guess I am a success supporter then.
But this sport is all about having the best tech (the best mechanics as well).
So basically it is no fun at all IMO.
So basically it has become a season of finger pointing and corruption? Have there been past seasons where there has been so much allegations of vehicle irregularities and FIA coverups? This has taken the fun out of the sport. So much retarded regulations.
It's mostly part of the circus' modern "atmosphere", although it doesn't really help that everyone (starting from the drivers themselves) has a soft spot for drama and primadonna stances these days.
The current season looks like it's shaping up to be a reenactment of last year's one: both Mercedes and Hamilton are as remarkable as always, but Ferrari's truly awful decision making and Vettel's occasional silly moments* once again are ruining all the improvements in terms of competitive performance and engine . We'll see how things fare in the long run, there have been some thrilling races this year so in the end for me the entertainment is there
*I still believe that with good ol' Nando onboard thing would have gone differently. Vettel is a solid driver (that goes without saying) but he doesn't always react well under pressure and that's a vital component for such hard-fought championships with head-to-head cars.

The 90's were rife with scandals. I remember the whole Mercedes vs Ferrari espionage thing, the FIA being involved in all sorts of shady things, etc.
It certainly did its job, the crash looked fairly impressive from the replays but this picture shows how helpful the halo actually is.
On another hand, another DNF for Leclerc ( and Kimi ) !

I don't think this would have been much different without the HALO though. I get why everyone is rushing to use it for its promotion though.
But I've seen silly things like: without it Leclerc would have been dead. No, lol... we've had enough of those accidents in the past to compare.
It's there for (large) oncoming things to be deflected because that is the biggest risk for the driver. They are pretty tucked in from all the other sides.
That was my impression as well. The McLaren's floor could have hit his helmet, and the pressure that was applied on the halo ( pretty deep fissures ) would have went somewhere else. Could have been nothing, could have been serious !
Seen enough (not blurred) footage and angles to say: no. It most likely wouldn't have been anything serious without the HALO. There's lots of footage out there, even 360 cam from Leclerc (and lots of similar incidents over the years).
The way the cars are made, it is impossible for that floor to hit the driver. Also the Halo is exactly what causes the weird angle and change in direction, without it it would have 'flown' () different.
Don't get me wrong, there will be moments that device would or could have saved a life. I just don't like that any incident from now one will be people jumping on it and go: SEE! It does save lives!
