Game is a fucking blast, finished zone1 in 7 hours of coop with buddy. 9/10 easily. Loved every moment, every glitch (there was like 1 or 2), every goofy situation on the road.
Waking up with a hangover in the mud with pigs - priceless.
Thanks, ubi soft.
And where excactly is that drinking part where you wake up in hangover with pigs ? Cos i couldnt find single thing in this matter when i googled?
I drank like 10 booses and all i get is little dizzy.

EDIT: The funny and kinda fucked up thing is that this actually works within the world of Far Cry 3, 4 and probably also 5 here and how the writing and certain elements seems, strange or how to describe them. Almost eldritch in a way for players who do dig up a bit of the background lore and info.
Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 had a lot of this although not as heavily featured in the main story missions itself outside of drug induced sequences but there's something really wrong with Rook Island and Kyrat within the lore of these games though it's not super important to the overall story but it adds some additional nuance and interesting thoughts.
Wait what, is this the first game that is not nVidia bullshit filled?
So I'm reading people are running into issues holding stuff, and the money not being quite enough to comfortably afford ammo etc... yet you can buy such luxuries with microtransactions... is this a thing in this game?

so I bought another sidearm, but it goes in a weapon slot?
you can't change the standard 1911 sidearm?!
Yea you can, all sidearms can go in the generic slots and the sidearm slot.

yeah I got a console derp moment - apparently you can't navigate with <- or -> or A or D from slot 1 and 2 to slot 4 if slot 3 isn't available yet.. you need to point to it with the mouse

I haven't had issues with money quite yet, but it looks like everything can either be bought with in-game cash or "silver bars". The idea being "if you want access faster, pay $$$".
The silver bars are bought with real money (it looks like 100 bars for 1$?) OR you can find small piles of them around the world. For example, I just blew open a safe and there were 40 silver bars in it (yeehaa, 40 cents).
At the moment its showing me weapons with costs ranging from 200 to 500 silver bars.
Edit: In-game cash, those same weapons had costs ranging from 3600 to 9000 bucks. Various trinkets that I collected around the world could be sold for maybe 150 bucks. Completing a side mission gave me 900.

Second technically.
Far Cry 2 had far as I know no hands on involvement from either AMD or NVIDIA.
(Both were caught cheating with driver optimizations for gaining the performance lead though as far a I remember but that happened a lot during the early 2000's for both AMD and NVIDIA.)
Far Cry 3 was supported by AMD and showcased their HDAO tech and overhauled Dunia into Dunia 2 going from D3D9 and D3D10 to D3D11 with some graphical tweaks and improvements.
Far Cry 4 was NVIDIA supported as were most Ubisoft titles by now and saw a full suite of GameWorks technology implemented in addition to pretty big changes to the engine.
Far Cry 5 is once again supported by AMD which I'm not sure how they pulled that off, Watch_Dogs 2 was intended as a DX12 showcase but switched over to NVIDIA partway through development instead so I'm surprised AMD managed to retain FC5 at all.
Main thing here is rapid packed math and shader instrinsics which aids Vega in particular but also Polaris GPU's though not to the same extent.
Engine has been overhauled with a full physical based material shading with changes to lighting and such although it doesn't match Anvil Next for Assassin's Creed but it runs extremely well even if Easy Anti Cheat and Denuvo drag things down a little bit.
(EAC was recently bypassed though, possibly giving a minor performance boost though it also compromises online play completely.)
Water shader in particular uses FP16 precision and there's a lot of tricks and tweaks to enhance shader performance and overall keep the game running well though not without some compromises such as view distance and pop-in being a bit more noticeable and the texture quality is a bit lower as the game tries to keep to 4 GB or less VRAM usage instead of 6 to 8 GB though a high-res texture pack might be planned and the photogrammatry tech also aids with environmental texture detail.
(For console the water system while not as detailed as on PC also uses async compute.)
EDIT: Also marketing terms will have Vega as 2x faster but it's important to distinguish that it can handle 2x 16bit shader calculations together so while those are 2x fast that doesn't translate to double the performance overall although this pops up a lot from what I've read so far.
(5 - 10% performance gain or such depending on scene perhaps, hard to say and test exactly how this works but it keeps Vega in a pretty good position though it won't outclass the 1080Ti which is simply faster.)
I kind of dislike the way the new quests work. ie via random NPCs.
It kind of makes sense -> you meet someone who has heard about a cache somewhere / cultist shrine etc.
But due to the fact that the npcs spawn really... randomly, it can cause weird situations.
Like at the very beginning, just after getting off the tutorial island. I found an npc somewhere who mentioned told me of a cult shrine. I ran some 100 meters to a near by road, fragged some cultists and ran back to the place where I found the npc -> there was now a different npc who told me of a different shrine (you can find the shrines via exploration also of course)
Otherwise it's a nice game. Probably better in Co-Op but none of my friends have bought the game.

Yeah, Ubisoft was a major developer for NVIDIA's tech often being the first with showcasing new effects and implemented many of the GameWorks libraries in their bigger franchises.
Then Assassin's Creed Origins comes out and has none of their tech and now Far Cry 5 is supported by AMD although they went with DX11 over a mixed DX11/DX12 implementation though it might have been better as using DX12 only would have limited the title to Windows 10 only and I don't know how Ubisoft feels about Vulkan.
Could be something internal between Ubisoft and NVIDIA but I can't think of anything, NVIDIA is often praised for their level of support and involvement with developers.
We'll probably never know, could be nothing so it will be interesting to see if the next big release from Ubisoft will have GameWorks, OpenAMD or neither.
EDIT: Wonder if it's something related to the often very closed nature of GameWorks, NVIDIA being the ones doing the code in the actual libraries and the developers implement it in their games and have a couple of parameters they can tweak for functionality. Probably not since this hasn't changed in years AFAIK and some of these are now found on Github.
Can't be monetary either, NVIDIA could probably pay more than AMD could although whether they'd want to or not is a different factor, NVIDIA's business practices have angered a few former partners over the years too although I don't know if this is all that severe anymore.
(The Intel satirical cartoons from years back for one thing.)
Thanks for the replies men. Not as bad as I heard which is good. Still unsure about plonking money down tho...
The fucking cultists spawn everywhere which is fun the first hour or so, the other 24 - 29 hours though it gets tiresome.
Biggest complaint about the game so far, they went pretty extreme with spawns this time.
Second complaint? Forced scripted story progression so if you're geared for hunting and just happen to progress the rebellion meter past a certain threshold the game will force a situation where you have to do a story mission which could be anything from mostly cinematic to all out assault which really break pacing and immersion when you have no choice but to do this sequence now.
Third would be the AI, friendly NPC's and the fangs (animal companions.) are often reacting to NPC spawns up to a hundred meters out and can be oblivious to danger or if you're downed and trying to wait for them to pick up up again.
(Side note, someone being burned or shot you just lift them right up and they'll be good as new. Morphine and medication is overrated it seems and the American healing factor rivals that of Wolverine in X-Man.)
Yeah, I have to say that spawning rate is atrocious, seen a few reviews and it really stands out as awful. One example: In 30 seconds on one stretch of road: A car, a van, a truck and a pick-up... All of these reviews had something like this.
I get that you need to 'gamify' the world somewhat but they really went overboard with it.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
