A new X-Files game is in the works
It'll be narrative-driven, according to series creator Chris Carter.

"I made a joke the other day about The X-Files, the musical, but in reality, they’re actually making a really interesting narrative video game, different from the one that’s been launched already," he said in the interview with X-Files News.
I presume the already-launched game he's referring to is The X-Files: Deep State, a hidden object game that released on mobiles last month (to generally poor reviews). It's been a full 20 years since we had a proper X-Files game on PC—Richard returned to it in 2013 and found it to be "surprisingly okay". Read his take here. |

I loved that game on 7 discs, with FMV ! It was so cinematic

cause it was crap, crap like gabriel knight 2 was awesome cause it was that crappy that it was just hilarious good again. but this xfiles game? just crap

It was like an interactive X-files episode. For the time it was pretty dope.

My Virtual Struggle with Chris Carter's blessing, this could go so wrong in so many ways 
Perhaps it could work if it's made as an investigative game with actual gameplay in it and interactivity (a la X..Noire), but when they say 'Narrative title' the sensation is that they likely mean the modern 3D Tellauto-movie type of flabby thing.

I still remember the last scene of the 7 CDs game, you had to make some kind of click real fast else it was game over...
Still it was a great game for xfiles fanboy like me, it was like playing an actual episode.
The only bad thing is that you couldn't play with mulder & scully, they were just characters.

I also really loved the FMV game. I love FMV games in general but that one was really well made and indeed pretty much felt like an X-Files episode.
