There is nothing to install you just copy the files over that's it.

Is it worth grabbing 4k textures for a 1080p screen? I generally expect crisper visuals but can anyone confirm if it's the case here?

Higher res textures and assets for the characters / creatures and the environments. 4k movie files take up most of the space though and it's BIK(v2) in both US and JP versions. Without those the pack would be around 15 GB in total.

From what I've heard the assets themselves makes a nice difference compared to how the game looks without these, movie files seem like they should have been a separate pack though and they'll only really have full effect on a native 3840x2160 resolution display though I am surprised at how many there actually were.
(There's the different chapter videos, general stuff like certain quests and the intro and ending cutscenes but also the DLC's including the multiplayer content and then some videos for summons, 49 GB all in all or 24 I guess depending on localization used.)

I haven't seen it myself yet, but i really doubt it.
There were only a handful games in the past that offered those 4k-packs. One was Shadow of War.
Personally i saw nothing that would indicate they were 4k resolution. Laughing

Kept using them, because why not. But i also added Reshade Sharpening and that was indeed a noticeable difference.

It does make a noticeable difference here, base are just the same as console textures/models so pretty low res in some areas. Btw if you don't want to download the whole 65GB pack the 15GB of data are actually enough just exclude the 50GB movie folder with the 4K movie files there is no noticeable difference in video quality if you don't play in 4k anyway.

Care to share some comparison screenshots with 4k textures enabled if possible?

I can't, i copied the files over and i guess they overwrite the smaller ones from what i can see there is no option to toggle them, i just briefly tested it without them because the game download was way faster then the 4k pack.

There's a in-game option for the high res assets, it's just a checkbox and the files don't overwrite anything. Smile

Checking the config file and such I wonder if the data would be compatible with the full game since this still looks to be the demo so I just had a quick test up until the bay area, running pretty well though lowering the texture cache from 4000 to 3000 works better unless you have a 6 GB or above GPU.

Good to know, btw has anyone tried unlocking the dlcs with a different steam emu?

Isn't the high res pack release in compressed parts? Cause I sure wish I wouldn't have to download all 66 gigs of that

Framerate I think, 30 FPS would probably eliminate it and then 60 works if you can maintain it with 120 being the max but it's even more pronounced if framerate drops lower.

Guessing they did something to work around the game probably running at 30 FPS and having several systems tied to this so you get this jitter effect if the framerate isn't stable when targeting a higher value.

Even with solid 60 (according to steam overlay anyway...) there's still flickering, even in the tutorial with the guy's jacket and carbuncle's tail.

Yeah this port was designed from the ground up for PC, sure Laughing

Nope but from what i saw it's fixed in the 3DM frankenstein version for some reason so it should be fixed in the full version as well.

The config file is GraphicsConfig.ini and it can be found in:

C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XV DEMO\Steam\*STEAMID*\savestorage

Then the section and the settings names would be these:

[RenderingSettings]

HighSpecAsset=1

Should have a similar name in the in-game options if you're using custom, for the presets I guess it's on if the assets are available though I didn't check.

EDIT: And yeah due to using the exe from the demo (I think that was how this was done though it's also using a small launcher.) that's why the folder path name also has demo in it. Smile

Not sure if the progress can be carried over into the final game but it doeesn't seem like anything is preventing players from finishing the story content even with this build.

EDIT: File in it's entirety looks like this:
So I assume tweaking shadow and LOD distance and the individual GameWorks settings still works.

Quote:

[BasicSettings]
DisplayResolutionWH=2560x1440
GraphicsPreset=4
MaxFramerate=60
RenderingResolutionRatio=100
ShowFPS=0

[DisplaySettings]
CurrentDisplay=0
FullScreenModeOnStartup=0
HDRLuminanceScale=600
HardwareFullScreenMode=1
VSync=0

[NVIDIAGameWorksSettings]
NvidiaHairWorks=0
NvidiaShadowLibs=0
NvidiaTurf=0
NvidiaVXAO=0

[RenderingSettings]
AmbientOcclusion=2
Antialias=2
HighSpecAsset=1
LightingQuality=3
ModelLODScaling=200
MotionBlur=1
ScreenFilterDetail=3
ShadowResolution=400
TerrainTesselation=1
TextureAnisotropicFilter=8
TextureStreamingMemory=4000

TRAM or texture RAM appears to just be a cache value, lowering it down a bit shouldn't affect things too much although VRAM doesn't just hold texture data so leaving some amount to other stuff can be helpful if you opt to increase it instead IE it's a 8 GB GPU or higher. Smile

It's a separate 65GB download so if you only downloaded the 86GB you don't have it, and the flashing is probably a bug with the global illumination maybe try playing around with the lightning option or other settings but this often happens with games using it, make sure your drivers are up to date though.

Thanks tet666, I reduced the fps to 30 and that seems to have fixed it? What a fucking weird game. Between the background music and strange ass dialogue plus my wife calls them the Asian hot guys its a real freak show!

It is a very calming game to play...passive, stupid....wondering around taking your time....WEIRD!

Hi,

quick question: since the 3dm frankenbuild does not contain any DLCs, how much is one missing without the DLCs? Do they add extra quests, dungeons, bosses and the like? Basically, are they "content DLCs" or just items/cosmetics?
