I would play Promods, but it's impossible in VR due to the shitty ETS engine being pushed too hard. (I could reduce draw distance in the Promods option file though... hmmm... )

I wonder what they plan to do about the 2010 graphics, since they made it clear they intend to keep milking ATS and ETS2 for 5+ years
or revamp the vanilla+going east areas, the map design is trash compared to the late dlcs
The graphics are not particularly bad as such, but the engine is just .. poor.
It would be interesting if another company decided to bring out a similar game. In fact, assuming they used RL companies and truck manufacturers, and they made the graphics a lot more realistic etc, I wouldn't be surprised many ETS vets would jump ship (or truck) to it. SCS are clearly in a unique position as their main product is quite popular, so why would they need to update the engine.

They should fix that big clusterfuck known as scandinavia dlc before doing anything else
Exactly why I play promods. They have parts of northern Norway and svalbard already
promods is the reason the dlc is shit.
They took one of the promods devs on their team and used the same stupid road setup as promods had. It just makes no sense at all, and its completely unrealistic.
Roads which are 3m wide in real life are 10-15m wide in this game.
They use "backroads" as main roads.
Probably nice and good for those who didnt drive all these roads irl..
Annoys the shit out of someone who spent half his life on all these roads.
I think they're running out of things to add to the game.. I mean, seriously, cables? Something you will never see while driving, has no impact on the game and is just... well, pointless?
BTW I was trying this with a car mod, and it's hella good as a car driving game.

Well since they are running out of ideas, how about they make a feature where you can be a truck driver/serial killer and you have to manage answering the call of the demons, or just passing through town without any victims so Interpol doesn't notice you.
ProMods 2.30 is now available!
Our five year anniversary release will bring you loads of new content.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
We have decided to release version 2.30 for ETS 2 build 1.31 as that is the current and official version. ProMods 2.30 has been in development for quite a while now and we did not want to withhold release any longer. It may take up to a month for SCS to release build 1.32, which will render this version INCOMPATIBLE.
It is your personal decision whether you want to access the new 2.30 content now, or if you wish to spare your $1 and wait until the next ProMods update will be released, which will support 1.32. This is likely to be at least six weeks away, if not longer.
You can always roll back your game version in the Steam Library properties selecting "temporary_1_31 - 1.31.x for incompatible mods" - when 1.32 is out.
A new map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator will include the three Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, and also south of Finland and parts of Russia including Russia's second largest city Saint Petersburg.
Out on 29.11.2018
Coming to Euro Truck Simulator 2 later this year, drivers will be able to expand their company and deliver to the countries of Romania, known for the forested region of Transylvania and the surrounding Carpathian Mountain range, Bulgaria with its diverse terrain and Black Sea coastline, and the Trakya region of Turkey which is the gateway to Europe's largest city, Istanbul.
From large cities to small humble villages in the countrysides, truckers will also be able to drive on roads which lead to scenic coastlines alongside the Black Sea.
These regions also offer a large variety of industries for players to deliver to and from; including farms, logging companies, and the mining industry.
