The more i play the demo, the more i get into it. Sure its not the good old Final Fantasy but it isnt that bad either like some people are saying (atleast for me). Tho its definetly different and the world feels kinda empty as of now.

It's a bit lacking from my understanding, stuff had to be patched in post launch (You can drive the car now, another patch made it drivable off-road. And then stuff like switching companions in another update, bounties and other side activities and more.) but the PC version is at least somewhat more complete though combat still looks a bit simplistic though eh I suppose Final Fantasy has usually had pretty easy combat systems (Not lacking in complexity or anything though.) though this realtime system feels pretty shallow although later on you probably get more abilities and such. Smile

EDIT: Currently doing FF XII at the moment, if Square ever "ports" FF1 and FF2 to PC I can do the entire series finally ha ha.

Oh depending on what they port some of them is going to range from self punishment and frustration to genuine fun if a bit dated technically and then more punishment taking on the ever growing list of extra stuff and post-game "Fuck the player over in the worst way imaginable." content. Razz

Oh yay for the XIII trilogy again ha ha. Eh it's mainly the first game that's the slog getting through that but XIII-2 has it's moments (And quirks, 100% completion is quite a mess to get although not as bad as X-2 ha ha.) and then there's VIII and it's draw system and don't level up too much because level scaling here will break you and empower the enemies. Very Happy

And 2...I actually like FF-2 but the start is basically three dudes flagellating themselves over and over to achieve enlightenment and mastery of the body. Very Happy
(Seriously you pretty much beat yourself up as the goblin trash mob looks on as this levels up health, stats, hand to hand which dominates in the early parts of the game and then shield and other skills so yeah welcome to FF-2)

There was a thread on ResetEra with a good overview of the content added from each of the major updates but it got buried when the Royal Edition hit and thread after thread popped up for that announcement and then console and PC specific threads and the demo and benchmark and more.

So far since the console version launch there's been several enhancements and there's going to be more until 2019 including at least three additional story episodes since the game had such a lengthy development period spanning since back in 2009 somewhere with multiple redesigns and changes and a ton of cut content. Smile

But yeah initially the game was pretty rough from what I've understood and many features were patched in over time even reworking some of the existing content and fleshing out the story a bit since that too saw several cuts and changes.
(Certain characters were removed entirely and others who had major roles were reduced to more minor or brief moments during the game.)

The car itself has had two or three major updates just for that and then there's the players party, optional content and fleshing out the overall world and now launching alongside the Royal and Windows edition is the online multiplayer update adding another mode to the game.

Followed by I think there's another update some months later and then the first of the remaining DLC packs for season 2 though I don't know how accurate the earlier leak was though if it was correct there should be one or two character episodes and then two areas being fleshed out from having limited or no presence in the current version of the game to at least having some content though not on the scale originally envisioned.
(There's a ton of stuff out of bounds on the map itself but it can't be reached outside of glitches hinting at what the games original scope was but then time constraints and changes saw several cuts particularly from the second half and on.)

I played the demo for an hour and really not into it, is that long enough?

My main issue with the game is combat, even if I use the wait system it seems to just be a hack and slash?

well tried the demo and was better than expected but not enough to Day1 purchase and with the anouncement of 2nd season pass that means my playthrough will be postponet to early 2019 anyway (even if it was drmfree) ... so i can wait

Origin preload files + demo exe and you get a working game, but how working?
(It's playable but the demo exe could differ from the full version unless it's more of a launcher for some .dll having the core data.)

Asset pack leaked too as another 60 GB download.
