Cool Face

Quote:
Nier: Automata brings back the corpse run, a time-honoured MMO tradition. When you die, some equipment and experience is left with the body you leave behind. To get that stuff back, you’ve got to get your corpse.

Once at the discarded husk, you’ve got two options. Either retrieve it, which gives you back your equipment and experience immediately, or attempt to revive it, getting back your gear while creating a truly gruesome combat buddy to fight alongside you. There’s a slight chance reanimation will fail and the zombie 2B will attack, but what’s death without a little risk?

That sounds awesome Very Happy

Anyone got it yet? Review seem good.

Seems to be a niche market title. And not stocked in my usual retail outlets so I don't have it :/

Ahh, glorious 2Butt.
Quite nice to have a sexy main character like that :-)
Yoko Taro has good taste!

We need more people like him in the industry.

played for ~15 hours so far.
I like the unique style and charm of it all, and the music is very nice and familiar for me as a fan of the original nier.
story so far is intriguing and mysterious and weird in that Nier way, could go a lot of ways from here and I'm looking forward to see what's gonna happen.

combat works but I feel like I'm missing something as it's kinda floaty, lacking impact, and I often have no clue wtf is happening when I'm in the middle of a bunch of enemies.

Metal Gear Rising combat felt quite a bit better to me but maybe I'll figure something out that changes this.

Other than that, it's typical Nier stuff with going bullet hell mode, sidescrolling mode, top down mode at any time :P
It's good stuff overall.

I'm 45 hours in now, completed most of the main story I think? And god damn this game just got better and better since the last time I posted about it.

I wasn't super thrilled about it at that time but the story kept escalating and it kept surprising me in new ways. I absolutely love it now.

I love a great story more than anything and after being so disappointed by FFXV and Nioh's stories, Nier Automata delivered big time.

Not only does Nier: Automata’s upcoming DLC let you battle Square Enix exec Yosuke Matsuda, but also Platinum Games honcho Kenichi Sato.

The downloadable content, dubbed “3C3C1D119440927,” comes with three different costumes as well as arena battles with rewards to the winners.

Skimpy costumes FTW Very Happy

New sidequests and odd coliseum battles reward players with music, costumes and other cosmetic items, as long as you’ve got that game’s Chapter Select feature unlocked.

Nier: Automata’s DLC allows players to battle powerful machine enemies like Square Enix exec Yosuke Matsuda and Platinum Games head Kenichi Sato for fabulous prizes, but they’ve got to make in there first. In order to access the areas containing the coliseum battles, players must have completed the game’s C or D ending and unlocked the Chapter Select function.

WOW! Such an amazing soundtrack. It's on par with the first game.

Fuck I need to play this already... for the soundtrack that is.

I've never played original Nier (have 360 isodemo somewhere and tried it once but I just didn't feel it) but the soundtrack I listen to all the time. One of best in gaming

Well, the first game is superior in everything but the combat. Automata is amazing as well though.

definitely way too early lol, the first playthrough doesn't even begin to show the true game

make sure you do all 3 playthroughs

Precisely. You need to go through those endings to get the complete experience.

I did miss Kaine & Weiss though. They were the true highlights in the first game.

Finished all 3 playthroughs, took me 60 hours. I didn't enjoy the game and story.
To me Automata doesn't hold a candle to Nier, shit i even enjoyed the combat more in the first game. A big letdown for me.

well kudos for giving it a proper chance

i do enjoy the game but i also agree it doesn't hold a candle to NieR. it was one of my biggest worries when i heard platinum were on board. very streamlined.

none the less it's a great game
