256mb GTX. Plus you don't know what brand it is etc. plus you'll find that one company favours another so again it's pretty unreliable.

Meh, I'll wait for the DX10 line. Though the price might touch the skyline :/

Exactly! The 512mb gtx cards also has faster cpus and memory speeds so until they are tested against eachother i still bet on nvidia!

It's not the size that counts it's how you use it

Actually the X1800 series was supposed to be the competitor to the 7800 series but since that got thrashed totally ATI moved their next gen card's launch up. It is so bad that most places never even got any 1800 shipped. Those people that did manage to buy them are trying to offload them desperately.
The fact that the 1900 narrowly beats 7800 cards actually in favor of Nvidia but it is up to them to launch their new series and take back the lead.

that means that the shader units are three times more than in the 1800...
pixel shader = Arithmetic Logical Units - responsible for shader computation... just as the name says.
in the actual ati hardware you have 3 times more shader units than texture units - the ratio have been 1:1 in the past genarations of graphic chips.
Ati says theres a need for more shader power - texture computation is stagnating.
edit:
the g70 has a 2:1 ratio - that means that Nvidia has as many ALUs in its 7800GTX as ATI has in its 1900
24 pipes/ 48 ALUs...
what an ALU exactly does is a BIT more complicated... if you are interested in this topic - google is your friend.
I doubt my english is good enough to explain it...
