Attraction 3D with professional spanish dubbing (some tiny bits Confused with subs and russian audio) 7.5/10

I did watch this back in august in native russian and some dreadful but serviceable subs. Movie is okayish, kinda Twilight with Independence Day, but maybe it's because the spanish dub and the added 3D (which was stellar, no pop outs but great depth and rotoscoping, no sickening edits) that I felt it better this time. Got the point of it (masses can be indoctrinated against aliens of any kind - read, immigration - thanks to television and also Putin got some backlash served) in a better way. I even did feel emotional at some bits Very Happy

Recommended for sci-fi buffs and post-teenager suckers with a tender rebellious heart.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I really liked the first one. 1.2h in here i had to take a break, im not sure i'm gonna watch the rest, i feel bored out of my mind.. the constant fighting (between main characters) and name-calling gets tedious (some of it is fun, but its too much of it), the father-son thing feels lame as hell. It's silly but most of the time not in a fun enough way. It's easy to compare it to the latest Thor movie, which is miles ahead of this, especially the much better pacing. -/10

Edit: watched it in 3D on 124" (which is phenomenal here, very immersive in the action scenes and both beyond and before-screen 3D is done well), that's probably the only good thing i can say about the movie.

Exactly my biggest gripe with the movie.

Tried to watch it after recommendations here, but could not understand their language (English with a very heavy accent)... Deleted within minutes.

The Ritual. This was great! Perfect length and pacing! Very atmospheric. I appreciated that all the main characters came off as humans and not like cartoon characters with the douche, the good one etc. One of the better horror movies i've seen in recent years. 8/10

..about subtitles, i use them for all movies including Swedish... extremely annoying when you miss a word because of accent or someone is mumbling. I also hate not knowing what the hell they are saying when they pronounce names of places or people, if i've never heard it before there's no way i can make it out.

Attraction (2017)

6.5-/10

A mix of Twilight+Contact

Good acting, nice CGI.

If it had a better script it could have been a great film.

Darkest Hour 8.5/10
The Florida Project 8/10

Both very nice solid dramas. Darkest Hour was more exciting than Dunkirk, despite being only about the politics behind the event.

Murder on the Orient Express - 5/10. What a snoozefest.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Justice League thefuck/10

I admit, I enjoyed the previous Supes and Bats movies, for all their worth. Even BvS was enjoyable (I watched only the DC) when the expectations are low.
But JL plays in another league (pun intended) when it comes to crappyness. Avoid at all costs.

Oh well... I see the care they gave to the Carpenter's movie, but it's not engaging nor terrifying. A shame to see Kai Proctor wasted in such ways.

Thor: Ragnarok - 7/10

One of the better MCU films as of late, although far from perfect. At least the director tried, even when he was failing.

Detroit - 8/10

Intense and highly unsettling, goddammit Carl. Bigelow's signature visceral (in a positive way) direction makes you feel part of the events, there is no sweetening and the solid acting from pretty much everyone involved here does the rest. It's difficult to remain impassible, a heavy but recommended experience, with the bonus of Will Poulter's surprisingly good performance as an unlikable grade A cocksucker (which suited him like a glove).

This was not so good. Though I don't know what I expected when it's 'Frasier' vs killer spiders.
