|
 |
With unlimited money it seems every single high end laptop is flawed in some disappointing way.. so far im thinking razor blade is the closest (and I have no intention of gaming). If Apple didn't fuck up the keyboard and remove the escape key I would have got that and installed linux... but no apple have to be apple.
All i want, decent spec for a laptop (not necessarily a Nvidia GPU as they suck up battery and emit heat. 1920x1080 display, 6-10 hours of battery, not a fucking eyesore / plasticey piece of shit, connectivity that makes sense if they force me to be Mr.Dongle galore i could probably bare it.
Macbook Pro = Worst keyboard in history of keyboards, no escape key, limited connectivity & dongle madness.
Surface = I dont like the weird cardboard material and keyboard, limited connectivity / dongle's galore. tbh don't really want to buy microsoft products on principle either.
Hauwei Matebook X = Limited connectivity & availability, uncertain on its battery life as well.
Dell XPS 15 2018 = 2-in-1, no no no no no.. will there be a non 2-in-1 version??
Dell XPS 13 = Almost perfect, unnecessary touch screen, unusual key locations and ultimately want a 15".
Razer Blade = weird 14" bezel / display, I don't need 4K or touch support, silly lights, questionable linux support.
MSI,ASUS, Lenovo, HP = I dont trust products from these companies.

I don't want a "gaming" laptop, I want something serious for work. Yeah I don't trust those companies because of my time selling laptops of those brands to customers.. I'd say 50% would wind up warranty job esp. Asus.
So you think the hpspectre is the best laptop on the the market? Anyone own high end laptop care to express an opinion of it?

Well the 1000$ dell's we have in work are fucking crap. They work well enough for office work and look good but the keyboard is shit, they have almost no usb ports and dell rely on You buying their usb C adapter usb hub which fucking sucks, so they took apple route.
Even if that's fine, I see my cooworkers laptops bsod like 3 times a day. mine is still ok though

There might be a new XPS15 version later in 2018. Just like you said it's almost perfect but the USB ports are a problem.

I have the 9560 for work and love it. The only gripe from me is the lack of Ethernet port. |
Also it's only 2 "pure" usb ports but u can convert the usb-c to regular one...
By extend, you can add external Ethernet port but u need to convert one of the USB's connections(both USB-C and the normal ones).

Its from RoTR thread.. but I decided to move the discussion here about the laptop.
It's about the dell xps 15, 9560 model.

for 400 eur u can get a ryzen 3500u and ssd and a 17 or 15 inch screen, the problem is a dedicated gfx card, if u want a 1050ti or up, the price almost doubles immediatly to 699 eur, which is ridicoulous considering how old the 1050ti is already. At least the amd has a better gaming capabilities then intels onboard shit that hasnt evolved in like 4-5 years.
best price ive seen for somethign higher end was a 17 inch 144hrz with a 1060 6 gigs, for 899, but that was an amazon fluke, right now those specs are 1100+ euro

im seriously considering getting that 17inch for 400 eur. even though its not full hd, more worried about the 220 nits, prefer 300+ for outdoor well lit places . even if its shit i can still get 350 for it second hand while waiting for the 7nm amd mobile gen

I bought i5-8265U with 16 GB DDR4 and 2GB GDDR5 MX130 (940MX rebranded). It gets hot even with a fan-cooled pad. Can't imagine how it gets on actual gaming laptops with non-U processors and 75+ watt graphics.

This thread is wrong. Saying there is no good high end laptop is wrong. What you want to say is that the perfect high end laptop doesn't exist.

^^^
I only buy Clevo/Sager laptops when I need something for mobile gaming. I got my beefcake at home but tearing down everything and hauling it is a no go.
I've had 2-3 Sager/Clevos and never once died on me or had any issues. Easy to work on, easy to get to what I need to and they typically perform great. My current one has an i7 6700 and a GTX 970 in it and still plays everything on medium to high at full speed.

Zen 2 laptops will be amazing, unless its some plasticky Asus ROG shit, what goes for trackpads for windows laptop, Macbook trackpad is so good since its basically "touch screen" in MacOS, that is why its so accurate and smooth, not sure why Windows laptops still doesnt have anything as good.
