Just picked up an honor 8 myself. Their interface is meh but the hardware in it is great and hasn't lagged in the two weeks I've had it.
Just waiting for Xda to finish a Rom.
For the price it's better than buying a piece of shit Samsung at double the price.

I received my OnePlus 3T two weeks ago upgrading from a Nexus 4, couldn't be happier. The Honor 8 would have been my other choice.
OnePlus is not as cheap as it used to, but considering the insane prices the Nexus/Pixel devices now go for the 440€s for the OnePlus 3T (470€ for the 128gb version) are still peanuts.
Same Snapdragon 821 processor as the Pixel, 6GB RAM, FullHD AmoLED display (would have prefered FullHD anyways, who needs 4K when it drains more battery driving all those additional pixels), 3400mah battery. On a workday with wifi at home and work, not using my phone too much it lasts me for 3 days without charging. And with much use it still lasts me almost 1.5 days. And I am completely amazed by the new usb-c quick-/dash-charging, it really charges the phone to 80% in 30 minutes.
The camera is getting flack, but that's just comparing it to the iPhone or Pixel camera. Compared to my previous Nexus 4 it's brilliant
I even still run the stock OS, it's fairly bloat free and snappy, just rooted it for Adblock. And when the CyanogenMod/LinageOS transition is over I'll switch to that.

One plus has some bodacious hardware for what you pay. I was hoping the mini was going to be a thing by the time I upgraded but it wasn't. Only thing bad I've heard about one plus phones is their user interface but, they got a nice community you can get stock Android on.
I doubt it'll get anything official for cyan, they just closed down

I assume the One plus 3T will piss all over my old LG G3? I was eye balling the S7 Edge, but the 3T seems to offer almost the same for a lot less money. I'm just wondering when the S8 will be introduced and if it'll do anything new. There doesn't seem to be any info about it.

I've found the "perfect" smartphone phone!
Pros:
-Super Amoled 1080p 5,5 gorilla glass3 so great quality, good ppi, no stupid 2k
-4gb of ram and snapdragon 625 (like moto z play).
-Near stock android
-Great sounding bottom speaker. Seriously... I am surprised it sounds this rich. Most "bass" I've heard on a smartphone... my lg g3 sounds like 50s radio audition compared to this It's stupid to explain but the speaker does sound good.
-Fingerprint scanner combined with button samsung style on the bottom.
-Good, two tone flashlight like my lg g3 (I use flashlight in smartphone a lot)
-32gb internal. But supports sd card too. Even supports dual sim for whatever reason.
-And the show stopper - 5100 battery !
Not pros but not cons:
-Full aluminium body and sides. It feels nice and heavy in the hand but I don't like those metal phones too much. I bet metal back scratches easily.
-Snapdragon 625 is probably weak compared to high end smartphones but it's not showing any slowdowns in normal usage, browsing, youtube etc. Switching apps is quick and everything is responsive. Not played any 3d games yet.
Cons:
-Average camera at best. It does the job and is very fast to take pictures but its not samsung. Not even close. the sensor is Sony...
The thing is called Lenovo P2 and its a budget/mid range smartphone. Somewhat comparable to moto z play but with more ram and better battery. Seriously... the amount of stuff You get for 300$ with this is crazy. Even the screen is curved slightly on the sides.
I bought this for my fiancee 2 days ago. It looks and feels like premium phone. Screen is fantastic, speaker is fantastic, no lag at all.
Now to the point - the battery. It is the king of battery life for a reason. We unpacked it 2 days ago. It had 80% out of the box. We ran through all the settings, updates of all apps, downloading apps, android security update and then 2gb nugat update.
After this, it resetted all counters of screen on time but now there is 40% battery left and 8 hours of screen on time on the counter AFTER that nugat update. She did not connected the charger yet
Reviews say it can achieve even 16 hours of on-screen time. I am super curious to check this. I will probably be getting the same phone for myself. It's definitely a hidden gem.
My lg g3 does only 3hours of SOT. IF this does 16 while being faster, having better screen and speaker... dude. 3 years since Lg g3 surely did changed midrange market

Eh, most of those features are pretty common for most phones around the 300€ range.
At least for the "smaller" brands like Huawei and Honor.
In addition they have a much better camera than the Lenovo crap.

Well most dont have amoled and battery this huge. Actually this is the longest lasting smartphone today... so no. Those competitors dont have that.
Huwaei and honor have mostly crap. None of their smartpgone have all this features. And camera is better only in their top models.
I would say - if a person dont mind average camera, then its probably objectively best smartphone around. As for power - it plays all games smoothly today but I guess high end smartphones indeed do it better and will do it better next year. But my fiancee or I dont play mobile games at all aside from 2d crap so it seems like a perfect phone for us.
If it had a plastic removable cover it would be even better. This aluminium stuff is overrated... But feels cold and sturdy for whatever its worth.

Well I am a little late to the party but I've finally replaced my lg g3 with g6 (titanium color to avoid fingerprints).
Really like the phone. it's big and sleek. Feels very sturdy and sold. it's very fast with no noticeable lag at all.
The biggest surprise is the wide angle camera. it is one thing I've never knew I needed until now. You can fit so much more in 1 picture. And taking shots of objects up close is now much easier to to. And the camera is very snappy and takes nice pictures although I've not tested it yet almost at all.

Why would people even consider anything but OnePlus these days?

Because its apple wannabe so much if even looks the same.
Phones like g6 are actually less expensive and have more features like waterproofing or wide angle lens.
And oneplus has metal back and I just do not like metal back smartphones... and I do not like ordering it from manufacturer site.
It's still a good phone. What I don't udnerstand is why people buy 1000$ smartphones lieke apple or samsung with the same shit over and over.
Oneplus was an "flagship killer" when it was cheaper and offered otehr things. now it's as expensive as other flagships (G6, honor9, mi6) and offers less.

@KillerCrocker
I had the LG G6 for testing some time ago: http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3074315#3074315
Didn't really like the video and picture quality.
Now i'm waiting for the LG V30, which seems to be very good. Especially the battery life with up to 10h screen time if you use a black theme.

v30 should be great but g6 is good enough for me. I am not a heavy picture taker recently anyway and I am satisfied with the quality

i was thinking about finally changing the os, but there is no fucking android (or crapple) device which offers what i want (and what i used to have). glance screen, aka some always on stuff but not wasting battery with that or killing the display. iris scanner for unlock, i dont want any silly and useless, not secure fail and not proper working face recognition, quick charge and qi charging
on the other hand i dont really need a new device, mine is working properly, 32gb internal storage + 64gb sd card, still (2+ years after release) outstanding camera, battery lasts almost two full days (with listening to bt music ~1 hr per day, whatsapp, some browsing) and i have all apps i need (or i think i need ). and one year ago i only paid the price of a lower midrange android device for it

uh always on display on samsung phones?
uses not more battery then glance screen, also no screen burnin since it moves a little bit.
also iris/face and fingerprint scanners for unlocking.
quick charge and qi charging also supported.
so why not just buy one?

tbh i dont like the always on implementation of samsung (nokia already did better almost 10 years ago and i would rather not buy any samsung device at all, feels like cheap shit, is cheap overpriced shit). fingerprint sucks for unlocking and their "iris" scanner is scam. its not real ir-scanner, just a cheap cam module which can be fooled without much knowledge and doesnt work convenient at all. and no way im paying 500 bucks for a fucking mobile phone
sadly the last hope is the maybe upcoming nokia 9 by hmd global (and im still not happy with them using the old glory name), a proper glance implementation is rumored to come and maybe they put a fuctional iris scanner into it. again the problem is it wont be below ~500 euros when it hits the market (we might hear more from the 9 at the upcoming mwc). the design they use is still top notch, the 8 is designed like they glory 920 and the 6 for example is more rough on the edges like the 830

Why didn't you buy it from like Amazon though?
Price decision? |
Price wise it doesn't make much of a difference. I wanted the red edition as it looks very sexy. Actually I paid almost as much as the 128GB version for the 6GB 64GB edition, just because of import taxes and stuff.

no 9 from hmd global, but instead the rumored 8 sirocco. price tag of 749 euros... they should have gone for a 32/64gb with sd slot instead of 128gb and no slot. 32gb version for ~500 bucks would be more decent price (but still overpriced). the 7 plus looks neat for 399, but still doenst offer what i need (for example lacks wireless charging)
