Knightfall is an upcoming historical fiction drama television series on History. It recounts the fall, persecution, and burning at the stake of the Knights Templar, as orchestrated by Pope Clement V and Philip IV of France on Friday, October 13, 1307. The series focuses on Templar leader Sir Landry, a brave warrior discouraged by the Templars' failures in the Holy Land who is reinvigorated by news that the Holy Grail has resurfaced.
Knightfall was picked up for a 10-episode straight-to-series in January 2016, with Jeremy Renner as executive producer and likely guest star
Joining previously announced Tom Cullen are Bobby Schofield (Black Sea), Sabrina Bartlett (DaVinci’s Demons), Julian Ovenden (Downton Abbey), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (The Bridge), Padraic Delaney (The Wind That Shakes the Barley), Simon Merrells (Dominion) and Olivia Ross (War and Peace).
Created by Don Handfield and Richard Rayner, Knightfall chronicles the mysterious but true accounts of the Knights Templar, the elite warriors of the Crusades. It delves into the great secrets protected by the Templars and tells the story of faith, loyalty and brotherhood that help sustain these warriors on the battlefield, and the dark events that would forever sear the infamous date of Friday the 13th into the world’s psyche.
Bobby Schofield will play Parsifal, a young man of ordinary birth who will join the Knights Templar seeking revenge, but ultimately finds a higher purpose; Sabrina Bartlett is Princess Isabella, Queen Joan and King Philip’s daughter, her upcoming wedding stands to forge a powerful political alliance for France; Julian Ovenden is De Nogaret, King Philip’s Machiavellian lawyer and right hand man; Sarah-Sofie Boussnina plays Adelina, as a child she was rescued in the Holy Land by the Templar Knights, but now in her early 20s, she lives on the streets of Paris as a thief; Padraic Delaney is Gawain, once the greatest swordsman of the Templar Order whose role with them is at a crossroads; Simon Merrells plays Tancrede, a veteran sergeant fanatically devoted to the Templar Knight cause and Olivia Ross is Queen Joan of Navarre, Queen of France and Queen Regnant of Navarre, a devoted mother, warrior, and a formidable diplomat and strategist.
Tom Cullen stars as Landry, a veteran warrior of the Crusades, who becomes the leader of the Templars and serves as the driving force behind their quest to retrieve Christianity’s most prized relic: The Holy Grail. Renner is expected to guest star on a recurring basis. Production on Knightfall begins this summer in the Czech Republic and Croatia.
Schofield is repped by Lou Coulson Associates; Bartlett is repped by Independent Talent, UK; Ovenden is repped by Affirmative Entertainment, Independent Talent and Hertz Lichtenstein & Young; Boussnina is repped by UTA & Lindberg Management; Delaney is repped by Lisa Richards Agency; Merrells is repped by D2 Management and Conway van Gelder Grant; Ross is repped by Sophie Holden at Curtis Brown Group Ltd and Dominic Minghella is repped by Greg Slewett at Bloom Hergott, WME, Grandview, and 42 (UK rep).
Knightfall hails from A+E Studios, Jeremy Renner’s and Handfield’s banner The Combine and Midnight Radio (Jeff Pinkner, Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg).

I'm still patiently waiting for a proper TV adaptation of The Accursed Kings novels by Maurice Druon. It's a fantastic source material that should be made into a TV series . Preferably by HBO coz, well,if you read it, you know..
1972 mini series version was pretty outdated, and 2005 version was just bad..
..I shit you not, someone took an arrow to the knee and I almost stopped watching. And not like a simple arrow hit during a battle, this was a slow motion featured hit where the arrow practically curved just for the sake of a fucking shitty meme. How can I possibly take this show seriously if they've given me this after only 8 minutes
Was hoping it would blow me away, but it did not. It feels too predictable, a bit too cheesy, and with too much manufactured drama
Spoiler:
plot twwiisstt, our main Templar dude is forsaking his vows and fucking his friends wife.. And did I mention that friend is THE KING OMGBBQWTF!!!111
But as we know most shows are pretty rough in the first season... I almost gave up on Vikings after the first few eps and that show turned out great, so I WILL try to give the show a full season to sort it's shit out... Unless it gets significantly worse, of course... But if it stays like this, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets canned.
another thing i thought about.. the most interesting thing about the fall of the templars, is their arrests, torture, forced confessions, executions... which, of course, is what happens at the end of their story... and we probably wont get to see that. In order to see that, theyd have to voluntarily END to the show... or, more likely, the show gets cancelled in which case they wont be allowed to make another season to show us the really good stuff.

They should have just made a TV series based on the Maurice Druon novels "The accursed kings"
If made properly it would shit on GoT and emerge victorious story and politics-wise
I remember the first book did have some chapters about the fall of the templars order and why the king wanted to destroy them and how it affected his fate and the fate of the kingdom in the next books. After all it was the old grand master of the templars order who cursed the whole dynasty lol
thank god for that. i was legitimately angry that it was 9.8 when it first came out.. 6.5 is a much better reflection of the shows quality based on the first ep.
only melodrama, angst, and characters weilding magic powers can save this show now!! just go full comic-book fantasy style bullshit, and it might just survive.. fuck knows all the other shitty shows of that type somehow manage it..
I'll be honest, I know I said id give the show a full season to find its groove, but I haven't been interested or motivated enough to even download episode 2 let alone watch it
So, it's over, didn't turn out THAT bad.
Takes until around S01E07 for it to finally pick up and then all the plotlines actually come together nicely. The finale was pretty good and had a big battle as well and solid production values.
Also the bad guys are more interesting than the good guys in this, especially Landry is a bit of a dunce And Philip is pissed, lol
