Pretty good, no cringe spotted either and a nice suspense. Despite everything (yes season ten, I'm especially looking at you) I want to believe! Razz

Gillian Anderson also confirmed that this will be the last time for her as Scully, let's hope the season will be one to remember, and not for bad reasons.

As long as they include Einstein and that other guy who'll keep up that tired one believes and the other don't dynamic Scully and Mulder had going on for 10+/- seasons, it's going to be cringe, annoying and somewhat boring. If it evolves a bit past that, then it might just be good.

That's indeed one of the big question marks. We know that (alas Sad Laughing) the nextgen discount Mulder and Scully 0.2 will be back but their relevance is unknown. As far as I remember Carter had in mind to use them for a full reboot which fortunately never happened, though they still stuck around with the idea to be the full replacements someday. eew

@Waargh: haha yup, he really does:

"Remember Scully when I promised to kill you last?"
"I lied!"

Total garbage.

At least the other episodes seem to be a lot better according to someone on the internet who reported from reviewers who watched rest of it.

"Science. Alien science." Laughing

The mythology isn't that interesting in the first place, but they really are making it hard to endure it with the cheesy editing, forced acting and fanfiction-like goofy CC writing. On the bright side, I reckon it's nearly impossible to do worse than this (never say never though), here's hoping the next episodes/various monsters of the day will be watchable without making the whole thing feel like a tangible literal my struggle: extended edition.

I had hopes for this... Shame on me for daring to hope I spose. I loved the original The X-Files seasons. The conspiracy/mythology episodes are some of my favourites, but the last season and this new one just feels forced, almost cringe worthy. And how much Botox have David and Gillian had Confused Their faces just don't seem to move naturally lol.

It's a shame really. Maybe Chris Carter should step down along with the other directors/writers and let some fresh blood have a go ?

Laughing im only 10mins in and this is god awful..

I hate to say it, but this show really would have been better as full on reboot. They fucked this series up big time in season 5+ with crazy garbage story line and Fox not giving duchovny what he wanted. It was great in the beginning when they used some subtlety and you felt being FBI they had some swing when investigating. The could have combined monster of the week episodes with a longer overarching story in reboot, have Mulder and Scully as supporting characters etc.

This is fucking terrible, morse code brain scans, smoking man.. jesus h. christ. Mind Is Full Of Fuck

nup fuck this, stupid car chase and retarded dialog im out.

Quote:
Creator Chris Carter previously said that he wouldn't make more X-Files without Anderson, but the question was posed to Fox executives at the Television Critics Association winter press tour during the Fox executive panel on Thursday, and the network pretty much put its foot down on the idea of more X-Files without Anderson.

Indeed, the off-putting tone of the first and quite embarrassing episode thankfully was not replicated. The writing still has its own problems, but it's been watchable so far (Episodes 3 and 4 were fairly entertaining in a lighthearted way, with amusing bits and even some of the old charm). At least it is reminiscent of X-Files now (well, sort of Razz), let's hope it stays this way till the end without any returning Struggles.

Once again, the final My Struggle (IV) lived up to its name
It was a very cheap, quick and awkwardly nonsensical way to cut ties with the past, one of those cases where the creator goes mental and completely loses the plot whilst having absolutely no clue whatsoever about his work.

It's a shame about this bipolarism because episodes 2-9 (the usual self-contained stories/MotW) were actually quite pleasant and creative in my opinion (with the obvious ups and downs), an improvement over the previous season. The problem is, the core of the show and the mythology (or what's left of it, not much really) is rotten and I doubt there's alien duct tape capable of fixing it. Hold my beer, time for a reboot! - A̶l̶i̶e̶n̶ ̶i̶m̶p̶e̶r̶s̶o̶n̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g Chris Carter

When asked about the possibility of a twelfth season, Carter says there are still more files to be uncovered "in those drawers in Mulder’s office." Carter says, "the truth is always out there, and it's open to be being explored."

Damn, completely forgot about this. From the comments I guess it's like that last season, first and last eps with derp carter's hijinks are crap, stand-alone eps are worth a try?

I'm a bit puzzled how some of you find this good, I find it rather cheap random nonsense. The first season wasn't good but fuck I have a hard time finishing these cringy episodes.

Also the acting is rather shitty, Gillian feels like most of the time she doesn't care and wants to be somewhere else (and I agree she should be in something else ) and David is just clowning around for the most part.

Just another 'franchise' that's dead to me tbh.
