Total garbage.
At least the other episodes seem to be a lot better according to someone on the internet who reported from reviewers who watched rest of it.

"Science. Alien science."
The mythology isn't that interesting in the first place, but they really are making it hard to endure it with the cheesy editing, forced acting and fanfiction-like goofy CC writing. On the bright side, I reckon it's nearly impossible to do worse than this (never say never though), here's hoping the next episodes/various monsters of the day will be watchable without making the whole thing feel like a tangible literal my struggle: extended edition.
@Keit: I really hope so

Good thing Gillian doesn't wanna do it anymore, so this show can die like it was supposed to 15 years ago.

Quote: | Creator Chris Carter previously said that he wouldn't make more X-Files without Anderson, but the question was posed to Fox executives at the Television Critics Association winter press tour during the Fox executive panel on Thursday, and the network pretty much put its foot down on the idea of more X-Files without Anderson. |

Indeed, the off-putting tone of the first and quite embarrassing episode thankfully was not replicated. The writing still has its own problems, but it's been watchable so far (Episodes 3 and 4 were fairly entertaining in a lighthearted way, with amusing bits and even some of the old charm). At least it is reminiscent of X-Files now (well, sort of ), let's hope it stays this way till the end without any returning Struggles.

Once again, the final My Struggle (IV) lived up to its name
It was a very cheap, quick and awkwardly nonsensical way to cut ties with the past, one of those cases where the creator goes mental and completely loses the plot whilst having absolutely no clue whatsoever about his work.
It's a shame about this bipolarism because episodes 2-9 (the usual self-contained stories/MotW) were actually quite pleasant and creative in my opinion (with the obvious ups and downs), an improvement over the previous season. The problem is, the core of the show and the mythology (or what's left of it, not much really) is rotten and I doubt there's alien duct tape capable of fixing it. Hold my beer, time for a reboot! - A̶l̶i̶e̶n̶ ̶i̶m̶p̶e̶r̶s̶o̶n̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g Chris Carter

When asked about the possibility of a twelfth season, Carter says there are still more files to be uncovered "in those drawers in Mulder’s office." Carter says, "the truth is always out there, and it's open to be being explored."

Well I'm hoping Gillian Anderson nails that drawer shut and starts working on a new project (or new case in the fall).

Damn, completely forgot about this. From the comments I guess it's like that last season, first and last eps with derp carter's hijinks are crap, stand-alone eps are worth a try?

I'm a bit puzzled how some of you find this good, I find it rather cheap random nonsense. The first season wasn't good but fuck I have a hard time finishing these cringy episodes.
Also the acting is rather shitty, Gillian feels like most of the time she doesn't care and wants to be somewhere else (and I agree she should be in something else ) and David is just clowning around for the most part.
Just another 'franchise' that's dead to me tbh.
