They added things that should have been in the game from the beginning. Need I remind you this is a multiplayer-only game that launched with a price tag of 60$ yet it didn't have a proper anti-cheating system and had plenty of elements on the client side?
Ubisoft has made a habit of releasing online only games without taking any risks. They keep improving on these games with features and mechanics that should be there from the get-go, then somehow players come and defend them for that!

whats better, buying multiplayer games like the two battlefront games, overwatch, bf1, titanfall 2 with a total value for all of them at lets say 150e with a total of 300h of gameplay before you get bored, or buy siege for 15e and get easly over 500h of gameplay and still having fun, they also give you an option to buy a cheaper version in case you wont like the game so how is that forcing cosmetics on you?
|
The time spent playing isn't really a measurement of a game's quality but rather of ones enjoyment. While you have spent 500h in Siege, other players have done the same with different games, some mentioned by you here. You are taking your experience and use it as generalized standard.
The option to buy the game cheaper was introduced to revitalized Siege when it was in a rather rough spot. It's not coming out of the kindness of their hearts.
StEFaN7 wrote: | i dont give two fucks about anything, as long as there are no gameplay mechanics locked behind real money i dont care but you are making it sound worse than it actually is
|
So you'll rather ignore shitty practices because you are not affected by them? How about you or any other gamers who act like this, try to think about the long term consequences of your actions...
StEFaN7 wrote: |
the fact that they didnt abandoned the game to this day it justifies plenty when you look at other developers, if it was made by ea there would be siege 2 by now and the current state of the game would had been like it was on launch, with some season pass locked maps bullshit of course and not at all the playerbase it has now.
|
The fact that Ubisoft didn't abandon the game doesn't justify anything. It stands as proof that the game is making enough money for them to keep investing in it.
You are singling out a publisher to strengthen your "argument". There are plenty of publishers/developers which we could use as example that contradicts what your are saying here.
StEFaN7 wrote: |
the 15e standard version is not a scam, the scam are the other editions. the game has a big learning curve, you cant play and learn all operators at once so there is no point on having them all unlocked. by the time you play and learn an operator you will have plenty of renew for the next operator to unlock. |
Considering the fact that in the original version of the game you can unlock all the operators much faster, it seems like the developers disagree with you on this one. There is always the other argument: operators are unique in a team composition so the lower your operator's pool the worse. Then you should consider operator's efficiency based on the situation at hand which makes choices even more necessary.
The 15e edition is not a gift. It looks more like an enticing scheme to make players reach for the wallet to avoid going through an insufferable grind. Sure, it's something for those who can't afford to pay much, but like I said, don't think this is a gift from Ubisoft.
StEFaN7 wrote: |
but these days people want all their shit unlocked for nothing, this is one of the reason many games out there are so boring |
Gameplay is what should make a game captivating. If a game is boring, maybe it's not for your or its gameplay is just not good enough. Relying on unlocks to get players hooked is a cheap feature which pretty much abuses the psychology of the human brain.

many developers release unfinished games with 60 $ price tag but not many improve it and then some after that so you have to give credit where its due
you cant really say people spent over 500h in any of the games i mentioned, maybe overwatch comes close but that is very far reaching
as long as shity practices dosent affect my gameplay i dont really care, right now you can buy almost everything with the in game currency and after the changes they announced yesterday they will probably make outbreak purchasable with in game too. why nobody says anything about valve? everyone just wants to copy them
game is making money because ubisoft didnt abandon it in the first place, it wasnt making any money at first so if it was EA then it would have been abandoned in the first months
its not grind if youre having fun, youre having fun and make some renew along the way, what is the problem? its basicaly playing the game, youre not playing the game to unlock operators, youre playing the game because you like it and unlock operators along the way
almost all of the operators can be played whenever, its only situational when you play high ranked which you should not do until you have like 100h in and know the game, which is enough if you buy the starter edition. if you buy the more expensive version with all the operators youll learn nothing and play ranked with no knowledge and annoy the crap of every other player
nobody is relying on unlocks, you can basicaly play with only the private operators and still win easily and in some situations they are even overpowered because they move faster. this game is not only about gadgets.
I can see your soul at the edges of your eyes..

Hail Ubisoft for adding anti-cheating system to an online competitive game. What about that netcode?

You say this based on what?

They didn't abandon the game because:
1. They sold an AAA priced game that people bought and abandoning it would be extremely bad PR.
2. They sold a Season Pass from the beginning which meant a certain level of commitment.
Then the game started to catch one and they didn't have to abandon the ship anymore.

The operators are essential to the game. This is not some sort of MOBA where you have a huge pool of free champions/heroes and you can choose from them. This is a game where certain operators play pivotal roles and you can't be competitive or even properly enjoy aspects of the game without having those operators.

It's not situational when you play high ranked matches (and how would you know anyway? ). Certain operators are mandatory for a good composition and others are quite useful for certain objectives on specific maps.
You can buy the 15euro version and annoying the crap out of your teammates twice, once because you don't have enough experience and second because your operator's roster is incredibly limited.

That's quite some bullshit. Maybe you can win easily with private operators in copper-bronze league, but the team composition can make all the difference.
You are right, but this game is also about the gadgets.
According to you we should congratulate Ubisoft for returning to their business model that has 5-10 purchasable editions of a single fuckin' game.

Siege is my MOST played online game in many years. And while it is a great idea it is mediocre implemented at its best .Raising its price no matter the reason its bullshit .The netcode is still shit ,the new operators from season 2 are...i guess you could call them copy and improve ,the only ones that are good additions are Mira and Dokkaebi. Another thing that hugely annoys me is the fact that they come up with all sorts of new maps and remove from ranked classic maps like Airplane,House,SAS training base just for the sake of giving the impression that the game is growing or the fact that season pass is important

They only said they're keeping the standard edition pricing as-is though, they can still push up prices for the other editions and implement the lessened earnings in the starter edition which from the sounds of things that might still happen.
"We have further details to share, later."
(Well not a exact quote but once things settle a bit basically.)

They did changed their minds after the reaction of community. I'm not saying they are perfect or even good but this is still better than nothing.

well at least the exclusive skins don't look like they give an advantage
looks like bright painted shoot me outfits that make you easier to spot like those cash only sets for operators

The full game is $40. The $99 edition includes the year 1 and year 2 operators already unlocked, and the year 3 pass. Unsure if it already has the base operators unlocked.
