Attempt at fucking over those who backed them early on backfires in spectacular fashion.
The only downside I suppose is those who didn't refund will likely lose the money they put in,and of course, this isn't a criminal matter as Croberts et al will hide behind company names.
The sad legacy of an average man.
While I realize you and others enjoy crapping all over Roberts/CIG ( I agree on the
going all SHAMWOW with the selling of ships etc) on this (Cryteks desperate $ grab
and prayer for a nuisance settlement) you're wrong
you have to admit, it makes a pleasant change though. its nice when two parties who are utterly unlikeable shitbags, go to war against each other. you have no dog in this fight, you dont care who wins or loses, you just enjoy seeing them attempt to tear strips out of each other and enjoy the destruction that comes at the end. its the best type of fight.

Well, as much as I'd like not to care, I never got that KS refund, so I'd hate to see Crytek winning the lawsuit and thus making the already rather slim chances for the release of Sq42 even slimmer.
As we march into a new year, the Squadron 42 teams are deep in the trenches. Your first briefing for 2018 is a feature on the Coil in today's Around the Verse - check it out.
We thank you for enlisting and applaud your unyielding service to the UEE. Your continuing dedication to preserving its safety and sovereignty are invaluable. Remember to spread the word, tell your friends to report to the Squadron 42 web page and enlist. The Navy can always use a few more good men and women.

Eeh, announcement? Just another boring newsletter. Meh!

What, you expected them to be announcing the release of a non-existent product that'd be ready to play?

I don't think they will release any meaningful update on development anymore. They will just say something like "Hey everyone, we hear you want some update and we are excited to inform you that SQ42 is 90% done and you are going to blast Vanduul ships side by side with Mark Hamill soon!", which judging by their progress so far can mean anything from 1 to 10 years.
And for the PU they will just update what's going on the roadmap which you can check out right here if you didn't by now.
Wow.. so I bought an optane 900p a few weeks ago and they currently have a promotion going on with it, just checked it out as I almost forgot about it and you get this ship via a coupon. Doesn't sound bad at all, certainly worth a few quid. I haven't touched SC for 3 good couple of years now and just had the basic aurora crappy looking starter ship package (Arena and squadron pack) have no idea whats been up with that game and how far it's come along, downloading it again to see whats changed.

just on the site now looking at the extortionate priced ships, but what i wouldn't mind is that redeemer gunship. seems its not for sale yet. This Sabres flyable in ALpha 3
edit 2: feck im watching some tube clips and vids on the best ships, people are sending in their comments and purchases, most of tthese fuckers have like 3, 4 + ships already.. thats like a few hundred quid and the damn game isn't even out yet.
edit 3: Okayyou actually get 2 Sabre ships, a vanilla and the raven variant.. if you were to actually buy these ships on their own your pretty much getting the optane drive for free. Not bad when it's promoted that way...and they are not for sale still for the public I think.
The optimisation is utter pants for SC still though, probably worse in fact then when I tried it a few years back, although a lot more content has been added since then.. but £197 million pounds later... they should hire some more damn staff.. a movie production is positively speedy compared to the progress of this game..
I'd admit I had fun ~20 hours with 3.0 after understanding how things work in the first 2 hours. Couldn't finish a single mission though, they were all broken and I doubt 3.1 has any fixes for them.
Also from looking at the roadmap there isn't anything new worthy in this patch (module). That "performance optimization" is probably giving like a 0.00001 framerate increse anyway.
For 3.2, planned to come in 3 more months, there should be the mining and salvaging implementations.
IMO the biggest performance improvements will be in the 3.4 though I am not sure if that server meshing will actually help or make things worse.
This 'game' is 100% pointless in absolutely every possible way until they 'fix' the framerate being tieds to the network crap - and I am almost entirely convinced this cannot be done.
It doesn't matter if they somehow (magically) complete a reasonable facsimile of the game they originally promised if it runs at less than 30fps, let alone 60. It's been many years since the original version of the PU was released and it has not improved one iota since then.
I honestly don't see the point in the continual hope that this 'game' will somehow become one.

Kaltern i absolutely agree. I loaded up 3.1 and quit before i left the first corridor.
The moment you wake up and stand the framerate is exactly the same old shit. Not acceptable sub 30fps. It hurts to try and play this right now.
What exactly are they doing? I'd be too embarrassed to raise my head if i was in charge of this shower of shit. Fix the fucking framerate issue, put all possible resources into that issue until it is resolved. Then move forward.

I'm not sure why you think this, of course it can be done
We already know the game runs really well in offline mode.
What facts do you have that makes fixing performance in multiplayer not possible?
The issue is pretty clearly mentioned and scheduled for being fixed.
If you are going to troll in this thread at least keep it to the plausible things like how the game will never be finished etc.

I'll try again in another 3 months..
It was never meant to be fixed in 3.1 so I'm not sure why you are disappointed.
If you want to play the game with this fixed, I'm going to estimate late December 2018.
Anything before then will likely be minor performance improvments which will probably not be worth booting up.
I don't think they should have released 3.0 in this state but you need to understand that this is what development is up to and they are clearly happy to give us their current development build, even if it barely works.
