EDIT: I'LL BE LIVE THIS SUNDAY AT 17:30, GMT+1! HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE Smile

Waddup ladies?
Let's make it short and sweet:
Since hardly a day goes by without me learning thing about global History, I'd like to talk about it, and present a period in time to you guys (on the discord vocal chat channel).

It would go down like this:

People that are interested in this would vote for a particular subjet, or just tell me to pick one and go with it.
I would then procede to explain the whole thing, while trying to talk about all the peripheral subjects too (political, societal, economical, etc... changes that X event(s) brought with them).
I won't, however, recite dates and fact like some kind of automaton. I have a kind of "gonzo" approach to it all, making it, I hope, more like a bit of a show than a lecture.

Also, the idea/state of "permanent Q&A" is, also, in place, since it would be not only a moment of learning, but also of questioning and mutual enrichment.

So there you go!
I'd like to make those happen on, let's say, sunday afternoons.

Tell me what you think about it, and if you're interested!
Cheers! :>

If it turns into a discussion is probably entirely up to the "audience", so you could make it happen!

It would still be History-centered, and the goal still would be to get the whole subject across. Sidetracking the whole affair is ok for a bit, but I'll still make sure the whole things stays on track as a whole.
But every peripheral aspects, and the "main course" as well, would always be up for discussion, assuredly.

I'm more inclined to have thourough discussions happen after the whole thing, since, like aformentionned, the goal would pretty much be to cover a subject from "A to Z" first. Smile

I'm pretty flexible on the moment itself.
Along with the subject, we all could vote for and pick a moment that best suits everybody, and if I'm OK with it, then let's rock and roll Cool

That could very well be a fine subject to talk about!
If this gains some traction, I'll be sure to put that subject up for grabs Razz

I'd be interested in it, personally. I have vague memories from my studies but they're pretty hazy at this point Razz And I'm sure you're well-versed into this particular topic !

I'm not, really. I do have "de beaux restes Wink " on the topic.
But whether the subject is A or B, I'll research it further for the occasion, and, of course, have a "cheat sheet" on hand Wink

That's why I'd be glad to explore topics I'm not familiar with, on one hand, since, it would enrich me, but then, it would "betray" the format I'm trying to set up, since, it would rather be a discussion rather than an "exposé".

I'd rather start this whole thing on familiar grounds, then, sometimes, "expand" it to something different, sure. But not at first, if that makes sense.

Well, because I've not been invited into the "Kool Kids Klub" yet.
Earlier this week, Ixi PM'ed me saying something like "You seem like a nice dude, but you know, "this"?, never gonna happen. Arrivederci."

But no, seriously, I'd love to talk via IRC to you guys, so just send me a link Smile
It's just that, as far as this is concerned, it's gonna be a "vocal" thing.

Lovely idea Mastro HubU!
With dem chores, tight schedules and free time that I spend on mindless entertainment only (plus me not using anything besides this board, like a grumpy cat), I don't know if I'll be able to participate, but hell yeah, it is a nice thing to have and am sure people will appreciate it. Smile Best of luck!!

Belgian independence is a nice topic to discuss, really, as everything that lead up to it is also very interesting (French revolution, wars between English-French-Spanish, and so on). It pretty much tells the history of Western-Europe in the Napoleonitic era.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

You know, you could go with the less popular topics like the history of Central, Southern and Eastern Europe, the rise and fall of the african kingdoms and empires, the early populations in South-America, australian history (i've heard that they actually have one), Middle East, India, China.

Why this is always about the cool kids of the history?! Whistle me elmo

Dude, don't make rant about, let's say, Kanga Moussa. That dude spent so much gold on his may to Mecca that he actually fucked Cairo's economy up for decades Laughing

No I'll get to all that (...in the fullness of time).
I'd rather, as I said, start with "safe" topics that everybody knows and grasps to some extent, then build from there, rather than going for the more "exotic" topics straight ahead Smile
