Enjoy the story and the game, no need to rush until level 30. And don't do Dark Zone until WT5, that's when it really starts and opens up, with the good loot and crazy skirmishes etc. Very Happy

Guys, I tried this game at launch and I remember leveling to 16 or so. I was wondering if I should gime this game another go ? I'm a purely pve gamer and like single player & story content. Is the storyline any good for an mmo ?

One post up should be a good indicator/response for you.

Looks like Ubisoft has major plans for The Division
Quote:
If Ubisoft’s job listings are anything to go by, there are big things in store for The Division. The company is seeking a raft of new hires to work on the two-year-old game in their Malmö, Sweden studio Massive Entertainment.

After a rocky launch in 2016, The Division found its footing later that year, and players continued to trickle in. Seemingly surprised by the game’s eventual success, Massive added free updates and DLC to snow-covered shooter, but said they didn’t have plans for more narrative content as the game went into its second year.

Heading into year three after 20 million sales across platforms, it appears as though The Division will be expanding again. Ubisoft has advertised 25 job openings associated with the game on their careers page, and these include a narrative designer, a technical game designer, senior level artist, senior concept artist, and an associate producer.

The job descriptions mention the roles will involve “expanding the world of The Division,” and helping “create the best open world RPG experience ever.”

Between the sheer number of jobs posted for the game and the types of positions advertised, it sure sounds as though Ubisoft have major plans in store for The Division - although it’s not clear whether that’s in the form of expansions to the existing game or a full sequel.

For now, The Division is running a month-long celebration event marking two years and 20 million players. It’ll run through March 29 and feature weekly global events, where players can take on limited-time challenges and earn special gear. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.

I hope it's for a sequel, and not another DLC.

Probably a sequel, all those people plus the existing development team for another add-on plus this late into the games life cycle seems a bit unlikely but if the amount of players has surged up again perhaps they're having some plans for the game too.
(Yo Massive, what about that bridge sequence in the early media, or Central Park.)

We'll see I guess, from how I see it Ubisoft would expand the team in hopes of a successful sequel but that could be wrong and it will be a DLC instead though that's a lot of people to bring in for a add-on.

Perhaps both continued support and starting up development on a sequel?

Division 2. Very Happy

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

I've got it cheap dirt (about 8 bucks) during a sale and I must say that I'm impressed with what they done to improve the game in those years. Played about 50 hours and enjoyed it very much, soloed it mostly. I'm yet to try the pvp and dark zone, maybe the latter will be worth of another couple of hours, pvp not so much I reckon.

I think that Ubi is getting to be one of the best key players in gaming industry, at least looking at how they support their titles post launch versus EA, Activision and Sqaure-Enix and that sort of fuckers...

BTW the Underground DLC is free to play till 25th, it's nothing special so the better everyone can try it out.

Definitely would grab Division 2 on a similar sale Wink

The dark zone is interesting though the enemy encounters and the "bosses" can be really hard to bring down, don't really see too many other players but I might have been playing during low activity hours so it's mostly people standing around in the safe house zones, forever.
(No idea what they're doing, see this a lot in other online games too but I assume they're trading or idling or doing something. Razz )

What with the loot crate drops as long as you get one with a decent vantage point and cover you can clear up the spawned in mobs pretty effectively and grab most of the higher-end equipment without dark zone runs now but it's still interesting to explore the place but yeah prepare for a fight and particularly if you run into the named boss type mobs.

I think the pier area when that was opened up also plays a bit differently but gives a chance of some really strong gear but by that point I wasn't actively playing the game anymore. Smile

One of those earlier DX12 titles isn't it? Probably has something to do with it, actually started replaying the game earlier today seeing how it held up but I'm using D3D11 for compatibility with for one example ReShade. Smile

For these earlier titles using the API the full effect and performance benefit isn't that great though if the drivers don't make a mess of things and the game isn't completely shot with how it as implemented it can be somewhat useful but so far results have been pretty varied though as Win10 itself improves and devs get better with the API this should change eventually. (But for now you're not really missing anything too important performance wise or graphics quality wise by going with D3D11 and that's from someone who's actually quit a fan of low-level API's but thus far Vulkan seems to be doing a better job. For now.)

As for held up well the bullet sponges are less of a thing though the armor system is still hilarious though not as extreme either as I recall.
And the clunky movement and cover system can still be a issue, assist or something to that effect so you get nailed stuck into cover and having to wiggle out of it as some sort of struggle (Leave cover or turn corner? 50/50 really.) and you will be dead over and over as the character dives into cover...on the wrong side of it.

Other than that though it's still really atmospheric and I love the game engine, been a few years so it's aged a bit but the gameplay is the bigger issue even if they've removed bullet sponge bad-ass and his gang. Very Happy

I have to admit: the AI actions are cool. The enemies, hide, use abilities, flank quite well.

My only beef is the sheer number of bullets that it takes to bring them down if you use anything than a sniper rifle. With a sniper rifle you will take them in 1-2 shots.

If they are elites or named enemies, you will shell 10-20 bullets with the sniper rifle. Ideally, you should have someone with you to lay suppressive fire, while you snipe.

As for DirectX 12, i don't think that the game had native support for DirectX 12 out of the box and the support was implemented later, poorly.

I do get some fun of it. Get in, run around a bit, get out.

Because this is more like a Hack N Slash than a Shooter game. It wouldn't work if you could kill a Boss with a single Headshot.

Yeah it's a Tom Clancy branded title and focuses on realistic setting and some serious threat but the gameplay system is indeed based around something like a DPS output and damage numbers in the hundreds of thousands.

Player as some fast and agile glass cannon type build and most enemies are quite tanky plus the AI isn't bad as noted with each faction usually having similar enemy types but acting slightly differently from the disorganized and poorly co-ordinated raiders to the tougher often short to mid range cleaners and then the rykers as a sort of step up covering mid to long range but also not being afraid to just rush you and even work to flank and rush.

And then LMB as a organized military group bringing in more of everything and frequently using the higher end types such as the dakka-dakka-dakka HMG dudes when your own HMG wishes it could perform that well. Razz
(Throwing grenades like pro Call of Duty players too though most of the AI opponents are very fond of that little thing.)

Fumbling with cover and the clash between the realistic presentation and the actual gameplay is a thing but it works though it can get a bit tedious and drags on mid to late game though it will be interesting to see what the sequel builds on.
(Besides the obvious, meaning the micro transaction and loot crate foundations implemented and since then also overhauled a bit further in the first game.)

You'd have to do a couple of high level missions first cause you can only trade items found while being in a group and only with the 3 people from that group.
But yeah, earlier this week I felt like launching Div for the first time in a couple of months and running a mission or two, so why not do that while babysitting a lvl15 Very Happy

What puzzles me though is why you need cash so much - at the beginning there's not much use for it anyway and in the endgame you get WAYYYY more than you can ever spend Laughing

edit: also,i seem to be made of paper as even lvl 14 enemies pumpaction my angus from time to time

I could take you through some WT5 missions, just not the one you haven't done yet - one of the best parts of this game is levelling through 1-30 and following the story.
Farming gear and ignoring the whole lore comes AFTER lvl 30 Very Happy

olright, since not much can be done before lvl 30 i´ll just bite the pillow and take it (lots of stuff locked behind the magical lvl 30 anyways and i didn´t know that its such a hassle to just trade some junk gear. still, thank you and i´ll harass you for some dragging after i´m 31,in case it doesn´t bore you out of your mind and i´m still in need of cash or whatever

Don't worry, I've done my share of sprint-carrying my buddies to lvl 30 on their alts and it's fun to watch them "grow" from something that dies from a light breeze to a one man army in just a couple of hours, so farming gear with someone already at lvl30 should be a bit more exciting Very Happy
Oh, and you can only get to lvl 30 ;] Once you reach that, you start increasing your "Gear Score", which sounds like it's something different and it matters, but it doesn't really Very Happy
You just need better gear (with a higher GS) to unlock higher World Tiers, which let you receive... gear with a higher GS Very Happy
