tbh with the flash and daily deals you did get that little taste that you'd get while gambling or getting a rare drop in an hack and slay.
At least it was like that for me.

I prefer how it is now, if the discounts would be as good as a few years ago. It does cost me less money now because i buy much less and use isodemos more than before.

I've got a steam gift (game) and it says it can be redeemed only in India. Will logging into steam via VPN be enough or I'll have to change my country to activate this gift?

VPN will be enough (if they didn't change anything in the last months).

Publishers didn't like it because they were limited sales that were more heavily discounted. Valve got way more traffic to Steam and more sales in general but it was a lot harder on the servers for obvious reasons. I think they mainly did it because of pressure from publishers. Most people I know preferred the old system because it meant you had a chance for better discounts and it also made the whole sale a little more active.
Now it has become this passive thing where everyone checks the site once during the week and that's it. Before, way more of my friends were active, chatting about which games they were hoping would be sold on flash and it made it a bit more fun.

I thought they stopped it when they "introduced" refunding of games, so people wouldn't request refunds when their recent bought games are in a flash sale for a bigger discount.

Nah they basically have their marketing dudes figure out that they can maximise profits by not offering excessive deals. They did in the early days to build up its user base and create a psychological trigger in its users around "sale events" and now they can just sit back and watch people desperate to spend cash purely because SALE TIMEEEE!!!

heya guys
long-time lurker first time poster here.
i got a quick question on the whole cheap keys via vpn endeavor...
problem: my orig location is GER and i managed to change steamstore to RU (couldn't find a free vpn for India). Now, i get as far as the check out but once im redirected to paypal steam gives the error message that the billing adress (paypal GER) doesn't match the steamstore adress (RU).
i tried transferring EURs to my steam wallet but they wouldn't convert to RUB
creating a paypal account in RU doesn't work either as they ask for a Russian ID
soo.. can anybody help me find a way around this? pretty please?

buy a wallet top up card. cdkeys.com does instant delivery for example.
then you can put the code onto steam and it will instantly convert.
Thats what I have done since changing to India anyway.

be friend with your main accout(w8 3days)
buy steam gift card via paypal on your second steam account ,gift it to your main account

Well the games have consistently been on the top list of monthly sales charts though then again so has GTA V (Anyone out there who doesn't own it by now? Apparently.) and a couple of other games that have been out for quite some time already.
And that's just the physical sales, overall Ubisoft is probably doing pretty well even with their reputation.
(Though so has EA, most gamers just up up a copy and play the game, discussion boards like these are a small but loud minority overall I'd imagine.)

Wtf is going on with steam. WAs there a database leak or something?
I get few hostile login attempts per week. I just receive authentication codes emails and delete them because my gmail is protected with mobile phone. Maybe they want me to change password? How do I check for keylogger on my pc ?
