Chronicle was ok.

But then he wrote American Ultra and Victor Frankenstein. And apparently the new Dirk Gently, some people on hump liked it.

Lex Luthor from BVS suppose to be inspired by his persona - fun fact.

Hopefully this is the Ayer who directed Street Kings, End of Watch and Fury.

Landis also wrote Mr. Right which was nothing great but better than his trash - American Ultra and Frankenstein. Laughing

Haven't watched Dirk Gently but his comic, Superman: American Alien was surprisingly good. Something I'd recommend to even non-comic readers.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

American ultra is pretty much his only good thing.
Dirk gently has the same characters throughout.
Hopefully this'll be different.

Film wasn't all bad, but not a great film, even by Netflix standards. Visually it's good, but the writing was so woefully low-effort it's actually really disappointing, because the world has so much potential. It's literally like the modern day world a couple thousand years after lord of the rings, and orcs are having to deal with having backed the wrong side.

I liked the setting, felt kind of like shadowrun light which is quite different. It wasn't a great movie but it was good enough.

I'd give it 6.5/10 it wasn't great but not terrible either. Creative setting but ending felt rushed, maybe there will be a sequel.

There won't be a sequel.
Landis is falling down the metoo movement.

No problem if Landis can't write it. David Ayer already rewrote a portion of the script so he can take it further on his own now that the world has been established.

But really, it's a modern day version of Shadowrun without the sci-fi and cyberpunk elements.

1 and 2 are still amazing.
