|
 |
WARNING: I'm completely ignorant to the wires and all the paraphenalias jargon. I've just found cables, clicked them into place and seen what works
I have an old camcorder (Sony) it doesn't have stereo outputs, just those two connectors (yellow and black) which you can attach to a scart convertor or straight into some VCR/TVs to view it there.
Anyway I've managed to get this video through my ATI 850xt using the supplied S-Video convertor cables (I THINK) - it has a slight greenish tint on the far right hand side of the screen but nothing that I'm going to complain about. I set it as PAL D or something in Windows Movie Maker.
Problem is I get no audio.
I have an Audigy 2 zs platinum pro if that helps but I'm lost as to what I'm supposed to do here.
I have only one S-Video connection on the back of my card (I think it is s-video) and I have the yellow and black connectors to hook up.
What do I do?

The camcorder should have an earphone jack somewhere.. Connect that to the audio in on your sound card.
When you capture video, make sure the program is set to capture your sound card.. You should be good to go then.

Thanks Derwood, but It doesn't have an earphone jack only a microphone slot. I know now that it isn't s-video either that I'm using, it is in fact composite or something. Is there anyway around this or should I concede defeat?

I don't want one, I just wanted to see if I could transfer my existing archive of home movies onto DVD. A newer model isn't going to help me do that is it?

the black wire is the audio. the yellow is video. connect the black one withthe audio in of your soundcard. you might want to get an adaptor fr that.
