I don't remember if it was that guy, but one of the early target was in the same area as caged rebels. If you opened their cages (or accidentally broke them down in a fight or with fire), they might have engaged him for you. Alternatively, if you spent point in the Seer tree, he could have died fighting one of your pets or encountering a poisoned corpse you left behind.

Yeah, same here, especially if you have fun poisoning corpses here and there as you stroll around |
Yea, careful with that, otherwise you'll wipe out entire town

It might indeed have been one of the guys I freed. I think it's a great mechanic, but the execution is poor. If a target dies, you should at least not know it untill you find the body or something. Getting a random cutscenes out of nowhere while you're crouching in some bush is just stupid.

Usually it'll nearly always require you to confirm the kill by "looting" the body which will also be marked with a quest icon if those are enabled.
Not always though, hidden blade attacks trigger a confirmation on kill and some of the targets aren't all that distinguished from other civilians or soldiers especially mid combat.
(Or knockout using hand-to-hand which happens before you get said blade, funnily enough it's considered non-lethal but works the same even if the target is now sprawling around on the ground.)

I'm really liking the game, I didn't have this much fun with AC since AC2. The map seems huge, I didn't expect that. The one thing that really bothers me is the story telling, it seems like it's done by a group of amateurs. Ezio's story (telling) was miles ahead of this one. Some things feel really out of place and sometimes you get a couple of short cutscenes after another which makes it weird. The character is also pretty boring, the snippets of Aya I got made her seem like a much more interesting character. Maybe she should have been the main character, or they should've used two characters. I guess the team that lead Ezio's story through the games is gone or something.
Great game though, they finally introduced some fresh wind into a stale formula.

The fact you can reload a quest from the beginning of the objective is nice. I had to do that a couple of times. Once when a NPC got stuck and wouldn't move and the other was when I was escorting a character out using a chariot and got stuck behind a couple of cages and couldn't back up. I don't remember this being an option in previous games though.

So, how's this compared to Black Flag?

I think it's better, as besides the ship combat, Black Flag wasn't all that interesting, I thought. And the map of BF was mostly just ocean with (almost) no historical references and exploration (granted, the desert isn't that much better, but there's more variety at least).
For me, Origins is the first AC since AC2 that I enjoyed enough to have actually finished it.

Does this game have random encounters, like in for example RDR? I kind of enjoy that. Does it have any huge dungeon type of areas?
I think i'll have fun with it, the previous games has almost been there for me, but not quite.. i think this one will hit the spot for me + love the era / theme here..
Bought it on black friday, but for PS4 Pro (which i still didn't get) i bet it's almost on pair with my computer these days (980ti, super old i7)..

No random encounters, no very large dungeons (temples to explore aren't that big).

Google seems to disagree about no random encounters, including "elite skills that can only be unlocked by random encounters" and "The map is filled with random events" (question on steam forum)
Are you 100% sure?
