Buffon on-pitch interview after the end of the match was heartbreaking I think he's the best goalkeeper I've ever seen since I started watching football.
its very sad for gigi, he deserved a better ending. but if you dont score a fucking single goal in 180 min against sweden you dont deserve to be at the world cup. simple as that. not so simple are the reasons why it had to end this way. the progession in italy the last years was bad, a lot of things went wrong. same goes for the netherlands. its not just that the team failed now, its a build up pile of shit from the last years
maybe they should play a losers world cup with italy, netherlands, usa, turkey etc
Congrats Monkey, well deserved! Things went exactly as many of us Italians expected, it's been an awful campaign all along with a technically limited team and an absolutely abysmal manager, there was simply no future (nor present) for this current project.
The match was awkward to watch, with the few gifted players resting on the bench and the entire teamplay being based on complete randomness. "The Swedish defenders are good in the air and physically strong, let's spend 95 minutes trying to score with random long passes and high crosses!" - Ventura, master tactician
It's a shame that Gigi, Barzagli and De Rossi had to end their international careers like this, but it's not that this team had real hopes of winning anything, so in the end it doesn't matter. Hopefully the situation will get better, I mean this is rock bottom so it has to xD *hugs the Dutchmen*
Juv - Bar what a worthless match, should have watched Sporting CP - Olympiakos.
Should have a watched a proper multimatch, like the one from BT Sport. Was very fun today everytime they went "aaand there's another goal in Paris" and all the laughing from 5-1 onward
As soon as I saw Messi on the bench I imagined that Barca weren't particularly interested in creating entertainment, unfortunately Juve did exactly the same by not even trying to win it. You know that the mentality has changed when the manager and the players are happy for not having conceded any goals, a rarity this year.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
group f the most open one? cmon, sweden just went to the world cup cause italy was not even a shadow of itself. i doubt they can survive against better teams (i.e. germany). and mexico? i see them on the second place tbh, but far behind germany. and south korea wont play any role
